Hmm, thanks found it but though I changed it in the Stylevars, it won't change.
I tried to do it manually in the FTP with the .css file but I couldn't save the changes. Permission denied for those files. Tried to change the chmod settings, that wasn't permitted either.

Why is vB not letting me change those ?

WhiskeyOSS 05-10-2010 04:34 PM

I had to disable this hack between the sql errors and its interfeance with the main nav bar so its undone for now.. we will test the new version as they come out to see if there are any improvements Sorry !

I have no idea, sorry :(
Doesn't seem to be related to vBShout specifically, but something gone wrong with your vB install...

I think you posted in the wrong thread mate, this mod does not (to my knowledge) in any way interfere with the nav bar, and it also doesn't have any SQL errors.

If you would be so kind as to post more details regarding your problems, I'll be able to tell you if it IS this mod and if so, how to fix it.

Nothing more is known on the bugs in vBAdvanced yet as far as I'm aware.

Yep, that's entirely possible in Pro :)

how to enable the new thread new replies feature cant find it on individual forums
need help

DragonByte Tech 05-10-2010 08:03 PM

Click "Notifications" in the admincp nav menu.
You can't configure notifications for individual forums, that's a Pro feature :)

You can, however, configure it on a Category basis, which'll enable it for all sub-forums.

The_____KinG 05-10-2010 09:00 PM

thanks that was great help and very nice mods

tlwwolfseye 05-12-2010 01:31 PM

Do I understand it right that you can't delete single shouts in the Free Version, a feature you have in any other shoutbox ?

Thats too bad. :( I really liked this Shoutbox but this is a basic function for me so I think I have to go back to some other Shoutbox Mod.

Too bad. :(

That is incorrect, you can delete shouts by double-clicking on them and clicking the Delete button.

Alisa Lindsay 05-12-2010 02:54 PM

First...Let me state my apologies for posting this in the incorrect thread previously. Hopefully, VB or someone can delete it.

Secondly...thank you, Fillip, for such a quick response.

The items in Italics were transferred from the incorrect thread post to this one. I have also put my Updates to each item here.

I do have a two-fold final question for now (since I don't think there is an easy/no-cost fix to my notices not displaying issue)... Will user avatars ever be available?

[S]Originally Posted by Alisa Lindsay in the 3.8 version thread in error...

Notices: The option to set Notices does not appear in the Forum Manager section of my Admin CP or within the table for actually editing each forum either. Am I misreading that this might be a feature for PRO only?

This is in the new "Notifications" menu entry in the vBShout entry in the AdminCP nav

Update from Alisa: I found that and also found that it is not working due to a custom mod I have installed that I cannot give up. :( So, we will have to live without the notices in the Shoutbox.
[/S] RESOLVED.

To do that, you'd need to customise the HTML of the shoutbox quite a lot.
As such, it's nothing we can help with unless you actually hire us to do so

Update from Alisa: I will consider that if our membership grows once we go live.

What do you mean, user avatars?
A miniature display of the avatar next to a person's username?

Alisa Lindsay 05-12-2010 03:46 PM

That would be it precisely! Itty Bitty User Avatars....preferably the one they have on their profile.

Final Newbie Village Idiot Question: For vb 3.8.4/5 - I upload the same files to the server for both versions, chg mod, etc., but for 3.8 I import the 3.8 xml ?

Thanks.

It's something to consider for a future version for sure :)

The Itty Bitty User Avatars would definitely make my sites DragonByte Tech worshipers for life.

Not a bad idea at all!

I like the sound of it, will definetely look into the viability of making it an option.

Thanks!

Change the deployment settings in Instance Management.
The script name you need to use to put it on vbcms is "vbcms" (without the quotes).

Have you installed the quicktime plugin & Enabled shout sounds in the ACP?

Are other users on your site able to hear it? If they are it is likely a browser/Plugin issue. If not, it's likely a settings issue =)

Will stick with this free version

Has anyone actually seen the price of the pro version ? Way too expensive

Alisa Lindsay 05-14-2010 07:21 PM

Just wanted to drop a note and state the support for this mod is excellent.

Keep up the good works!

blue6995 05-14-2010 07:38 PM

When using the command /chatinvite username (I am using the name of a member), I get an error message: Error: Invalid Chatroom

Are you trying to invite someone to the main shoutbox, or to a room created via the ACP? If so, thats the reason. You can only invite people to personal chatrooms created via the shoutbox. (This is because ACP created chatrooms are intended for specific usergroups - not specific users)

Hope that clears things up for you!

Yes, I was trying to invite someone to a room created through the ACP. Thanks for clearing that one up, appreciated

Not a problem at all. It's not the clearest thing in the world to be honest, I'll be looking to make it more obvious in the next version =)

Thanks for asking about it - Questions let us know what we should be focusing on and what needs to be clearerk, too many people just go "This doesn't work. uninstalled" Which drives us mad haha.

Hope the shoutbox helps to improve your community!

How would i add a custom PHP code to this ?

I have a slider show and want this to show below the shotbox, Any idea where i would put this code so it shows under the chatbox within this code

many thanks and a few of our members are now considering updating to your pro version very soon, so please ignore my last reply]
cheers

DragonByte Tech 05-15-2010 06:02 PM

I really couldn't tell you without knowing what slide-show script you're running :(

betts02 05-15-2010 06:08 PM

Its Joomla

<?php
// START of "Frontpage Slideshow" settings
$nameOfSlideshowToDisplay = "myslideshow"; // Enter the name of your slideshow. Slideshows are in folders inside /fpss/slideshows/.
$URLofyoursite = "http://www.mysite.com"; // Enter your site's URL.
$AbsoluteServerPathofyoursite = "/home/user/public_html"; // Enter the root path of your site on the server.
// do not edit below this line
include_once($AbsoluteServerPathofyoursite."/fpss/mod_fpslideshow.php");
// END of "Frontpage Slideshow" settings
?>

I need to add this code, i have the files uploaded that are needed

DragonByte Tech 05-15-2010 06:11 PM

Oh, well I'm not sure how to work that then, sorry :(

mokonzi 05-16-2010 07:05 AM

I'm getting issues with smilies in the latest version. A lot of the custom smilies aren't being properly parsed. Any quick fix to sort it DB? Loving the shoutbox though, it's got a number of my users hooked :D

DragonByte Tech 05-17-2010 09:26 PM

vBShout v5.2.2 has been released, which fixes some additional bugs and also adds compatibility with the DBTech's latest mod release, Advanced @User Tagging

betts02 05-17-2010 10:04 PM

How can i display shoutbox below notices .. i want to display shoutbox below notices .. is that possible .. or we have to buy a pro version for that ?

DragonByte Tech 05-18-2010 10:09 PM

To position the Shoutbox differently from the pre-defined positions, you need to use the Manual Deployment feature.

Set the Auto Display to Disabled for the instance you want to manually display, then follow the other instructions on the explanatory text :)
