I don't care about the copyright as long as the highlighting problems are solved!

Jhonnyf 02-08-2010 03:10 PM

"Hacks" in Spanish is like "Modification"

For the Next Version I goint to remove the copyrigth in base64 and change this "vBsoporte Modification" plain Text

*************************************************

In this Days I not have time, please, write the bug or any problem (or suggest) that you have and when I have time I going to do that

Tnx Jhonnyf.
It all works well except the highlighting of the tabs, it doesn't work at all if you're linking to internal sections. All tab are highlighted.

You know I think this is a fundamental issue with vB4's tab navigation code. It doesnt matter what mod you use, or even if you use Lynne's superb manual instructions, THIS_SCRIPT must be unique for each tab and if you are linking to an internal part of vB which is already part of the navbar in some way, it cant be unique and you end up with multiple tabs highlighted, or the wrong tab highlighted. vBulletin really need to include a navbar/menu manager as standard. As it is, the tabs system is stupidly difficult to get to grips with and in fact, doesnt really allow you to add any non-default tabs.

Jhonnyf, glad to see you intend to remove the copyright text in the next update.

mmm I was just thinkin, what about creating a page for example called reviews.php and link the tab there. Maybe there's a way to place the section content in there?

Or using mod rewrite we can do something like "convert content.php?5 to reviews.php
And then use the link for the tabs.

Thoughts?

trilOByte 02-09-2010 01:22 AM

You mean create a wrapper for it with a unique script id? It seems like an awful lot of hassle just to get a tab working in the navbar.

Yep you're right but is the only thing we can do at the moment to solve this issue.

trilOByte 02-09-2010 08:51 PM

Good luck bud. I'm having issues enough at the moment with simple things to go that convoluted. :D

I'm slowing fixing everything and making a new layout. Hope to finish in 2 weeks the complete conversion.

dieKetzer 02-10-2010 07:35 AM

you uploaded the files through ftp?

Anyone have any ideas of what I missed along the way?

And it is a fresh install.

dieKetzer 02-10-2010 07:35 AM

this mod requires the default navbar template.

if the tab is properly configured it will have no default sublinks. if it isnt set up properly it will use the forum defaults.

Does it use the "Forum" tab's sub menu, or is it meant to be blank?

Cadellin 02-10-2010 07:37 AM

@ozpinkpanther: It is possible to use this mod with a custom header template but the navbar part must be unmodified.

Thanks Jhonnyf for removing the copyright from the next version - I've remove it from my installation using the instructions in another reply - if this causes you a problem please let me/us know.

dieKetzer 02-10-2010 07:37 AM

this is indeed a reproduced issue.
thanks.

Edit: I realized that the bug was only occuring with your pre-made tabs so I deleted them and made new ones. Doesn't happen now. Might wanna look into that.

demo16, yes there are problems with url_parameter. it seems it depends upon which page you click the link from and whatnot. this is something jhonnyf is working on. ib seems to have really gone out of their way to make this functionality difficult.
i had considered rewrite workarounds myself, and if my forum depended upon those content tabs i would definitely do that until this issue get worked out.

Dio Bach 02-10-2010 07:52 AM

Though this was a nice mod, but don't like the fact it adds unrelated URLs to your footer (bad for my SEO, bad for your SEO...) so uninstalled it. Now though, the box in the AdminCP left hand nav is still there but reads [evbs_sstab_advanced_menu]* + - any idea how I remove this from the nav too?

Yep same thing I was thinking, but I couldn't find where the tab links are. Just to add the new one directly there.

can you tell me where?

I have 2 calendars on my site, one is public for everyone, and one is for specfic groups. I would like to have two seperate tabs each with equivilant items as sub links, i.e. Add Event, View Week, View Month, View Year. I entered both sets of sub links, however when I click on the second calendar tab, this mod shades the Main Calendar.

Any ideas on configuring these to make it work? What do I set for THIS_SCRIPT for the second calendar? Should I choose a different value such as URL or URL_PARAMETER?

Essentially I'd like 2 distinct tabs both pointing to one calendar and all sub links work for the respective calendar.

This cant be done at the moment. None of the navbar tab mods or even hand coding new tabs will accomplish this. The problem is THIS_SCRIPT needs to be unique for each tab and if you have 2 tabs both using calendar.php then you have 2 tabs using the same THIS_SCRIPT id. This means you get errors with which tab is highlighted. Setting it as a url will not work, because it's still an internal page. I believe the only way round this at the moment is to create a "wrapper" with a unique THIS_SCRIPT id and embedding your customised calendar php code within it - effectively creating a brand new php file for each calendar.

If you find a solution, let me know because I'm trying to accomplish something similar with search.php.

I'd like to know as well.

I have what seems like a pretty unusual problem. On only the Groups page, the tab I've named "Message Boad" appears twice, and it's twice only on this page and only once on all other pages. There's only once instance of it in the tab setup. This is causing the navigation to push so far to the right on that page that it hoses the search box and then hides all of the navigation bar below it--I can see what should be there in the source code. Why on only the Social Groups page this doesn't make sense to me. Perplexed. Any suggestions? Oh, and it's this way in my default style as well if I switch between my custom style and the default.

And by the way, excellent product.

Addendum: If I activate the regular Foum tab (renamed Message Board) and remove my Message Board tab, this replication ceases on all pages, however, the navigation below the tabs is still missing on only the groups page.

Addendum: I'm noticing both tabs on the far right are also highlighted, and this is only on the groups page. The far right is a "Home" button. If I remove that from the tabs then only one tab is highlighted, the Social Groups tab, but the navigation is still missing in the row below.

Final addendum. Problem solve. Appears the URL field did not like my using a full URL for the address of the tab.

Disregard :)

Rob F 02-12-2010 05:13 PM

Afraid I'm now having issues with this mod too.

If I create 1 new tab - everything works fine.
If I then create another new tab to function as a menu - things still work ok.

BUT! If I create a second tab, internally linked, then the 1st tab works fine but when I click the second tab the first additional tab stays highlighted. I've tried all different means of THIS_SCRIPT, URL, URL_PARAMETER etc - just cannot get it to function correctly.

Still have it installed, but it means that if I need to add more tabs in future I may have to uninstall and go with a different mod unless this one gets updated to address the issue :(

CCux 02-13-2010 12:31 PM

Removed plugin because the footer is absolutely inacceptable! Sorry guy.

DeviantFlash 02-14-2010 11:29 AM

Where do you see the footer?
I dont have it on mine.

Pro-eSports.com 02-14-2010 11:37 AM

Does this mod allow sub-links or a dropdown menu?

Log out and check the footer. It's there.

See Post #277 to remove. ;)

choitz 02-14-2010 07:01 PM

Has this mod now stopped being updated? Started off amazing... but then the logged out footer thing, and nothing since - 95% there, about to offer giving some cash and now disappearing act. Anyone got a better version, or explanation of how to write custom tabs without a mod?

I bumped into one that wanted $30 PLUS $15 to remove the link to their page.

I am assuming that is my product that you are talking about, and I hope you were not implying that that my product is an inferior product, as it most certainly is not.

It does everything this hack does (and every other free tab hack here), it does it without any bugs/problems and it has features no free tab hack released here has (such as catering for submenu links, multi-language text support and more).

Yes, I have done this twice now. Still can't get it to show up in ACP to edit the tabs. It is listed as a product, but nothing where I can go to manage/edit tabs.

anestetic 02-15-2010 07:06 PM

thank you very nice hack installed

3rd time was a charm! Yippeee! Have no idea why I couldn't get this to work before. :)

Thanks for the mod

for this Screen

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...4&d=1264645956

If you have a wide screen monitor, you maybe can use 2 or 3 columns, if you have a litle screen maybe only 1 colums.

i have 24 usergroups and if i use 1 colum, It's equal to 48 Lines (alllowed and not allowed)
