Hi Guys.

I currently use the other arcade program for VB and up until a recent server move it was working absolutely fine but now I get the following error on some of the games:

This score was not submitted from the game. Your score will not be saved.

Transmission Timeout (0 sec)

Can anyone confirm that if I uninstall the old arcade software and install V3 Arcade this error would go away?

Thanks

zelnik 04-21-2009 03:23 PM

Hi guys.

I'm having problems converting a .zip game to a .tar so I can install it?

Any attempts I have made have completely failed :( Any advice would be appreciated!!

zelnik 04-21-2009 06:51 PM

On Certain games on my install i get the following error:

Quote:

<username>, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
The confusing part is this only happens if you play the same game twice in one visit to the site.

and even more confusing it only happens in IE.. works fine in Firefox!!!

Much be a cookie handling issue in IE?

Is this coded to be XHTML compliant?

code707 04-22-2009 02:33 AM

I downloaded.

in the 'forum' folder, I see admincp, images, includes etc...

On my server, I have admincp folder under my forum, I also have images, includes and client scripts.

is the right way to install it like: put all the files of the admincp folder(from the zip) inside the servers 'admincp'? and so on?

the 'arcade' and 'games' folder should have their own folder?

also..in the "admincp" (from the zip) there is a folder called "games". Is the 'game' folder in the 'admincp' (from the zip) to be imprted in the 'admincp' in the server or do i put that in the 'games' folder?

thanks in advance :)

code707 04-22-2009 03:15 AM

got it installed. works so far :) thanks everyone

TMH63 04-22-2009 07:15 PM

I installed it this morn. Thanks!!

Now I just have to search for some more games. :-) If anyone knows of more, shoot me a PM if you would.

Thanks!

Ever have one of those projects at work that, when combined with some real life issues, just had you tied up non-stop? Whew! ;)

If there still any outstanding issues that have not been addressed either in this thread or over at v3A, just let me know.

I would like to know this as well...

Thanks

With different styles calling menu items in different templates, I'm not sure one could cover all available options for an installation routine. However, adding the menu item manually is a fairly easy and straight forward task.

What?! The nerve of your boss! Doesn't he understand that there are certain priorities that take precedent over work? :D

Is there any v3Arcade resolution change add on for vb 3.8.2?

Thank you for that Biker

Don't want to sound noobish but where would I turn off the link that v3Arcade adds to the navbar upon installation to add it back where I want it...say on a second navbar? I am still learning and did look on the navbar for it but didn't see it. I do know how to add it back but I need to get rid of the one that's there first.

I appreciate your help

Biker_GA 04-23-2009 07:20 PM

I've found it in the navbar template as well as the header template. If you're using a custom style, check the header template first. Seems a favorite place for some to stick menu items. ;)

Thank you for that, I appreciate it.

If you don't mind I have another question that I asked over at v3arcade.com but haven't received an answer yet. May be someone here knows...

The question I have has to do with the trophys or crowns, etc showing. Is it possible to have your trophys show on the arcade page if you are the champion of the game but not show in the postbit?

If I turn the postbit option off in the settings then on the arcade page where it says "Want This?" and shows a trophy, it still says "Want this?" but shows a red X.

How would I accomplish the trophys showing in the arcade but not in the postbit? Is it possible?

Biker_GA 04-23-2009 07:55 PM

Yep.. I don't show anything in the postbit. Everything that relates to the the arcade stays in the arcade.

The images not showing is a bug with the newest version when you turn off the award in the postbit. I suppose it will be fixed in the next release. Post 209 confirms the bug.

OK, thanks for that. So, how are you not showing in your postbit? Are you using a previous version? Is there any workaround?

I don't want it in my postbit but I also hate that red X when I turn it off. Wonder when the new version fix will be out...

Biker_GA 04-23-2009 08:31 PM

Disable the arcade awards in postbit option in the General Arcade Settings.

I use Firefox. No red X for me. :D

Yeah, I did that and use Firefox as well. But the questions from IE users will drive me crazy and they think that there's nothing else out there no matter what you tell them.

OK, thanks again. Maybe the new version will be out soon. Hint, hint :D

Just use my method..

"You are using an inferior browser that's only 20% compatible with accepted web standards. If you wish to see things in a manner that they're supposed to be seen in, use a superior browser. Otherwise, shut up." :D

Im getting this on Default User Settings in v3 Arcade ...What to do?

Biker_GA 04-24-2009 01:50 AM

Uninstall completely and then reinstall. See if you get the same error. You're installing this on 3.8.x, yes?

KevinGupta 04-24-2009 08:22 AM

Yes, i'm using 3.8.x :) and it works great ... Thanks a lot Biker_GA :)

I hope I will not have any other problems :)
Cheers

The problem going on is that if the hook name has been moved to the header template instead of the navbar, then the plugins & code that looking for stuff while processing the navbar will never find it. The code is not universal, meaning that the mere act of moving the bit template name text from one template to another does not automatically mean that the hook will continue to work in the new template.

With the 1.x.x series, we are more less set in stone with feature changes. With the upcoming 2.x.x series, the positioning of the automatic link is one of the things that will be changed.

Is the option not working for you with 1.0.9?

Yep, it'll be fixed in 1.1.0 (or rather should I say "It *is* fixed in 1.1.0 but I need to package it together and update the attachment.") The intent with the 1.x.x series is that the option is global... either all trophies/crowns are turned or they are turned off.

Biker_GA 04-24-2009 07:07 PM

ROTFLMAO! I guess that's one way of doing it. Instead of one place or both, it's all or nothing. I love it! :D

Ljusya 04-25-2009 12:31 PM

In Ibproarcade there is special settings for games who scores with decimal value. In v3 arcade this scores are approximated

:D At least for the 1.x.x series it'll be global. With work being done on the 2.x.x series, we did not want to end up in a situation where we were introducing a bunch of new options in 1.x.x while also totally rewriting mass chunks of code in 2.x.x at the same time.

I saw your post over at v3A as well (thanks for posting it there, it makes it easier for me to know what issues are on the "Open/To Do" list yet :) ). The decimal scores should not be behaving differently so this weekend after I get 1.1.0 packaged & posted I will go back and experiment a bit.

zelnik 04-25-2009 03:00 PM

Hi guys.

I have a very popular game before I switched to v3arcade but the install file is a .zip

I've tried converting it to .tar but perhaps i'm being useless but v3arcade refuses to install it.

Is there a proven method of converting .zip to .tar that works with v3arcade or is there a way I can manually install the files?

Thanks

KW802 04-25-2009 03:38 PM

Zelnik, is it a v3A game or a IBP game? What method are you using to install it?

Well... :)

It was installed on my previous install if IBP but according to the .php it's a v3arcade game.

I've just converted a different .zip game to tar so I'm assuming the php is not compatible with this version of v3arcade.

Biker_GA 04-25-2009 05:18 PM

You shouldn't have to convert the file.

Extract the contents of the zip file. Upload the appropriate files to:

forumroot/admincp/games
forumroot/images/arcade
forumroot/games

Then use Game Tools in AdminCP to import the games.

Hi yep have tried that and it refuses to install it must be the php is not compatible :(

Don't suppose anyone have a mahjong connect working that could point me in the direction of?

I have copied this answer by Kevin from a post over at v3arcade.com since I couldn't bother to write it myself. :)

Please go into one of your usersgroups (eg: administrators) by selecting ACP => Usergroup Manager => {Administrators} Edit Usergroup and then scroll down the page a bit and you will see a new "Arcade Permissions" grouping of options. Set the options for the administrators (does not matter what, just change something with their permissions) and then hit the Update button. You should see a message like 'bitfileds rebuilt' or similar.

That should take care of the problem for you.

Finally, v3 Arcade makes a return; exactly what we have been waiting for.
