What do you mean exactly? I set just the displayorder to 0.

Which version are you running? If 1.3, just check permissions for his usergroup.

Sorry, then i don?t understand your Descriptions in the AdminCP for the Permissions:

There are only the Options to read or write in public or non-public Forums.
There is no Option to access/show only Socialforums of Groups where the Member is subscribed to.

So what did i have to allow/deny for this?

And at least a Featurerequest:
[*] Option to delete all old Messages of a Group if a Socialforum is created from Database

Phalynx 05-23-2008 09:35 PM

You asked in your first post for "Groups he is not a Member off", now for "where the Member is subscribed to"...

If you are asking for showing the forum, it's included in the read-permission. If the user can read in the forum he can also see the forum.

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 09:46 PM

Awesome!! Now this add-on is perfect!!

Nominating you for mod of the month!

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 09:50 PM

Here is the best way to make this look/feel the best:

1. In the Socialforums settings "Visibility"- Set to NO.

2. Make a Forum Category Called "Social Forums" (Set Active Status- NO) It will be hidden.

3. Make a Forum Called "Social Forums Home" (Set Active Status-NO) It will be hidden. This is the Forum where the Social Forums get "subbed" to. (This is the Forum ID number you will need to set in the Socialforum settings.) They will all be hidden from view from EVERYONE, you included.

This makes Social Groups more private and doesn't clutter up the Forum Home.

Mum 05-23-2008 09:56 PM

Will they show in new posts still with your settings Baldilocks, or only if they have read/write permissions?

Phalynx 05-23-2008 09:59 PM

You can set this behaviour via usergroup permissions. Set to No for all Groups would only members allow to see the forum, it's posts, etc...

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 09:59 PM

They will only show if they have read/write permissions.
For added bonus set the Main Forum (the ID number for socialforums add-on) to not be indexed in searches either.

Even I as Super Admin can't get into the "Ladies Only" social forum--I already tried, nor do their messages show up on a New Posts/Today's Posts search.

How do you do this bit?

Mum 05-23-2008 10:16 PM

Seems to be a problem? I have created a group, moderated. and set the forum member level at 2 (ie 2 members to make a forum) - there are 2 members in teh group, but there is no 'create forum' link - how do you make a forum now?

Phalynx 05-23-2008 10:23 PM

Do the usergroup the user is in have the permission to create a forum?

Mark.B 05-23-2008 10:24 PM

After today's update I have finally installed this, after watching for weeks, as it now does most things it needs to do to work well on my site.

I have thrown caution to the wind and opened it right up to my members, I predict chaos but I'm sure it'll settle down.

I firmly believe the next step for forums is giving users more control. This effectively allows them to create and, up to a point, manage their own forums.

My next addon will be the user smilies hack so that people can then also have their own smilies.

Having everything pre-ordained for you is SOOOO 2005! :D

Have you enabled it in the usergroup permissions?

i appreciate the idea but this makes me a bit nervous. i think the super admin needs to have, at least, viewing permissions if for no other reason but to ensure there is no illegal content. anyway to override this? thanks!! :)

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 11:27 PM

Yes, you can set it up in the Admininstrator Usergroup Permissions under Social Forums.

Set Can View Private Forums: YES

AWS 05-24-2008 01:31 AM

Permissions don't seem to work correctly.

I have unregistered/not logged in set to view public social forums and the rest as no. Unregistered can not view the forum. Even if I enable all permissions they still can't view them. The only way to make them visible is to turn off permissions system. The problem with this is private group forums are also visible. I want public group forums viewable by all and private groups forums viewable by only members that are invited.

Second problem is the write permissions seem to be backwards. If I disable posting to public forums for Users Awaiting Email Confirmation, Banned Users and 2 custom groups they can still post. If I set permission to enable posting they get no permission error. This one can create big problems. If you want to test the posting bug register an account. After you get the message to verify the account, don't verify it, go to the forum home and enter one of the social forums. Create a new thread.

For the record I have the newest version installed.

Baldilocks 05-24-2008 02:27 AM

In the SocialForums settings in vBulletin Options, do you have it set to "Check For Permissions" ??

Just wondering.

SpankMe 05-24-2008 08:44 AM

Excellent mod :)

A suggestion for future release. The ability for social group owners to create their own private calendar. Would be very useful for my NZ biker forums.

Unregistered users are currently disabled to view because of the bug that appeared after the release of 1.3.0

I will check this on monday.

VargTimmen 05-24-2008 10:30 AM

After updating to v1.31 I'm no longer able to create forums.
All settings are correct, als rights where given. Please help me.

hoof 05-24-2008 11:12 AM

Nice work! Very useful mod no issues on installation or creating forums :)

Shill360 05-24-2008 12:35 PM

Thanks for your mini update Phalynx, works great now.

Nominated your mod for MOM :)

crkgb 05-24-2008 01:08 PM

Would be nice to have recent messages displayed in profile. A tab or something of that nature.

irishblue 05-24-2008 01:09 PM

thanks for the latest update! I have it installed now! :D
works great!

is it possible for the forum to appear underneath the Groups page where social messaging is (if now deactivated)?

Rob Hephner 05-24-2008 05:11 PM

Since there does not seem to be any installation directions...

There are two zip, do I use just the latest and then what do I do, just import the one file and upload the other?

Also, does this mod have a control panel section and is it possible to only allow private social groups, not public?

I don't see this as an option anywhere.

It would be helpful if you listed a tree acces.

ADMIN CP> vBulletin Options > ect.

JadedSouls 05-24-2008 06:35 PM

Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > Administrators > SocialForums > Can View Private Forums

Thanks!

Now, where can I set it up so that the forum only shows to a person when they are a member of that group?

(Oh, and Admin)

I set up the system, I can set up a social group and it creates a forum, but I can only get the forums to be unseen by all or seen by all.

I have Admin permissions set to see and search the forum so i can see it, but I have a test user and on that account I can see the social group and join, but cannot see or search the forum....

Seems your settings are not correct, as the link would appear. Please describe what you did so far.

Uhm, maybe you should read the readme again. I'm pretty sure there is a part called "Installation".

Set all permission to no on every usergroup except the Administratorsgroup.

Yes, I see that. I just meant as far as options.

I did that and I have setup a group as invite only and invited my test account, I also setup a forum.

The test account cannot see the forum at all. Are there other settings that should be addressed?

Phalynx 05-24-2008 07:52 PM

Go to AdminCP/Forums and check the display order of the forum. If you know the ForumID, try to visit it manually (forumdisplay.php?f=x)

Rob Hephner 05-24-2008 07:56 PM

OK, the test user gets this.

Phalynx 05-24-2008 08:07 PM

I assume the invitation was accepted by the testuser?

Yes, I am the test user.

I also have another user elsewhere who has accepted and he gets the same message.

(At first I set his usergroup permission as yes to view and search and he could see, but not post.)

I have a parent Which is Clubs (everyone can see) and the private forums get created under a forum titled Private in that area.

redlabour 05-24-2008 08:14 PM

Set all 4 Options to "No" and you get what you want.

I have the same Problem before - nobody understands really what Phalynx really means in the AdminCP.

@Phalynx - please rename the Options. ;)

Phalynx 05-24-2008 08:18 PM

@Rob
Did you changed the permissions of the forums for yourself? Also keep in mind that the permissions for usergroups only affects non-members of a group.

@redlabour
Rename to what?

That still did not work. :(

Phalynx, I understand that my Admin account can see the forum because it is allowed through permissions. The issue is that a user invited to the group and the forum cannot see the forum, nor can they post or access that forum.
