So I have this working in the generic vBulletin skin, but it's not working in my forum's default skin (which is a older version of a 3rd party one I bought from Aqua-Soft.) What are the tempate edits and where are they intended so that I may try to edit them in myself, manually? Thanks for a great add-on...

How to Install?
Step1: Download this attachment and upload it from your admincp > Plugins & Products> Manage Products > [Add/Import Product] Page.. Step2: Go to vBulletin Options> Message Posting and Editing Options http://wumuw.com/i/20080628102336PMadmin1.JPG Now Scroll it down and select the options at the bottom of that page.. http://wumuw.com/i/20080628102623PMadmin.JPG |

This would be helpful, as this isn't working in my default (3rd party) skin. But it's working fine in the generic vBulletin skin, so I know it's installed properly. If you could share the manual template edits, I could force it to work in our preferred forum skin. Please and thanks. |

I was having the same issue as most people here... I installed it and it says some text under the title saying that it will search for similar threads... but when I type something into the title box nothing happens.
The reason seems to be that you need the SPECIFIC version of jquery that the author uses because he probably hardcoded the call to it. SOLUTION: DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION OF THE JS FILE AND PUT IT IN YOUR CLIENTSCRIPTS FOLDER http://code.google.com/p/jqueryjs/do....1.3.1.pack.js Should work now :) Also, you need to CLICK INSIDE THE MESSAGE BODY AREA to trigger the ajax check |
Nvm...

Doesn't Work For me !
I enabled modification on vBulletin Options & writed forumid(s) But doesn't work |
Ok, got it working on 3.7.2 PL1, only thing is you MUST use that old jquery file 1.1.3 and works fine, try and use the newest jquery and it will not work....
|
MrNase, you could use Google AJAX libs api also and then users of the mod do not need to handle the jQuery installation and versions etc, just install the mod and no file uploads. I've attached my edits for your consideration.

Any specific errors or browser? Have you had this mod installed before with edited templates, did you try reverting?
It works fine on 3.7.2 for me in IE7. I don' t know that there should be any version issues, I didn't see anything that would be volitile with vBulletin versions. |
I am using firefox.

It does not work here, neither with the old 1.1.3.1 or the new version of jquery. (3.7.1 Patch Level 2.)

hope coder will add this option to it soon :) |
I think that this is one of the best modifications of vbulletin.

Great hack /me installs
However, it took me a while to search for right location to enable the options. Under Vbulletin Options -> Help Message Posting and Editing Options -> Check for similar threads :) |
ok i installed this vb 372 pl1 it's enabled but it does not say if theres is a similar thread it just says "Notice: When you enter a thread title the system will search for similar threads which have already been posted. That should help you to find answers." nvm i fixed it
|
Ok i have modify the script with the last .js and it works on 3.7.2 level2

im install the product
but nothing change when i want post new theard and i add a title he not doing any think |
Works with 3.6.0. Thanks for this it prove to be invaluable on my forum.
I'm somewhat of a novice and the installation was straight forward. Import the 'jquery-1.1.3.1.pack.js' into your clientscript directory. Upload the product via Admin CP --> product manager THEN you can adjust the settings for 'Check for similar threads? - Disable for certain forums' This is located here: vBulletin Options > Message Posting and Editing Options, and then scroll to the bottom of the page. I think some members might be looking for this option before they upload the product, this is what I did and it wasn't there, nor will it be until you upload the product. Thanks again. Great hack! |
is anyone concerned about even more additional over head that will be created with this hack? I love it but I don't want to slow down my forum. What are your experiences?

Is there a way to set a cutoff date for the threads it searches? I don't want users posting in five year old threads.
|
This doesn't seem to work with 3.7.3 p1.
I've tried both jQuery files, rebuilding the search index, nothing works. Any ideas? |
same thing happened to me. Doesn't work with vb3.7.3
