I am wrapping up version 1.6.0, because it's pretty much ready for release.
This subversion is based on vBulletin 3.7 and the following features have been added: - Lightbox in News Display - AJAX Title Edit in News Display - AJAX Article Open/Close in News Display - AJAX Quick Edit in News Display (that's right) - Stickies are back The redirect bug has also been addressed. If anyone has any feature requests and bugs to report, do it in the next few days so I can get it into this update. |
awesome let me know thanks bro
|
your product is awesome
|
i stil cant wait for it .. hurry lol
|
Well there you go, blastup. Version 1.6.0. This was updated with new vBulletin 3.7 features, but they should only work if you have 3.7 installed. The redirect bug has been addressed.
New in 1.6.0, on News Display we now have: AJAX title editing, AJAX open/close, AJAX Quick Edit, Sticky Articles. |
I just tried to install 1.6.0 on my vB3.7.x and when I tried to import the xml install file I get this:
Code:
Installing Version 1.0.0... |
Apparently vBulletin doesn't trust trim() in templates by default. You can either add it to your template_safe_functions and try again, or download the product file again. I have removed the trim() calls.
|
awesome you updated it thanks bro
|
ah ok i guess ill just wait for vb 3.7 gold to be stable.. then install this.. awesome thanks

Now to get it to work with vBadvanced and AJAX Tabs heh. Got any tips? :) |
If I copy the news.php file and pass it the "f" variable ( http://www.domain.com/forums/news_copy?f=2) is there a way that I can just show the information between <!-- show threads --> and <!-- end show threads --> and not everything else? I'm trying to put that information in a AJAX tab for my front page in vbAdvanced.
|
Never mind :) I've figured it out ;).
I'll show you what I'm talking about later if you are wondering heh. |
Having trouble with the "Limit News Preview to How Many Words?" option. I've set it to like 50 words but it doesn't cut off the article and display the "Read More" link. Here is what I'm talking about:

Ah, thanks. That actually revealed a couple of bugs in news.php in 1.6.0. Still looking into a couple of things, but a new patch should be available shortly.
|
The fact that vB 3.7.0 is now stable and also includes CSRV protection (as does 3.6.10), and this mod doesn't currently have the appropriate form elements, means that pretty much every user of this mod is experiencing security token errors when attempting to use any of the AJAX features or inline moderation.
I guess this will force me to release a new patch earlier rather than later this week. |
I'm getting a blank screen when visiting my blog.
I have Goldbrick installed and followed this step again I also have this set as filenames: newsces / shownewsces (confirmed they match the file names) I have VBSEO as well (mentioning this in case you needed to know). I did notice that within the blog, although a blank page it shows the actual file extension where usually VBSEO does not do that. http://www.talkjesus.com/ (click on Blog under Info menu) It shows this link: http://www.talkjesus.com/newsces.php?f=72 However, the menu link (and forum link) is: http://www.talkjesus.com/blog/ |
You need to edit your php.ini to show the errors to the browser, otherwise I don't know what is causing this.
|
Actually, the logs show this when I attempt to visit the main blog page (newsces.php as I have it set up)

Okay, sounds like I forgot to put a check there for 3.7
You would wrap line 83 in the following conditional: PHP Code:
|
I'm using 3.6.1.0, not 3.7
|
I also got a few of these email errors this morning:

Well hopefully this bug fix update covers all the backwards compatibility issues...
|
Please see attached, it did not work.

hey i got an idea.. could you make news.php default to a news section? like newsdisplay.php?f=1 but you could just go to newsdisplay.php then it will appear! just by default! then it should also work if it is newsdisplay.php?f=2 or newsdisplay.php?f=3 !!! let me know thanks because i feel that using vbseo to put the file up in the homepage is a bad idea! it will be better if there is something at the index..
let me know thanks also it seems like there is still bugs mentioned from a few people! let me know if its bug free again thanks again awesome hack |
i still have no idea on how to make the urls convert in vbseo! i am thinking of the best way is to use newsdisplay.php only and not shownews.php i think i am going to just going to make newsdisplay.php direct to the real thread! that way you can preserve the urls and have url free conflicts! I think im going to use if conditions to define the showpost.php so it will look like newsdisplays template on certain forum ids.
do you think this is a good idea? do you think this will be hard to do? |
vbulletin.org did the same thing for the mods and styles section so i think it might just work!

For example on my site I have: Code:
RewriteRule ^main.php$ news.php?do=main&f=2 [L,QSA] |

Thanks, but still a few bugs.
See attached. In IE7, it buries the bottom part of the post as you can barely see the icons/buttons. In Firefox and Opera, it shows grey color on the right side for some reason. |
Ah, I think those are related to the fact that you use postbit_legacy on your forum, and the mod doesn't have legacy versions. I will look into this.
|
I even get this error when attempting to post a blog post.

Just curious, did you have 1.6.0 installed before upgrading to 1.6.1? (1.6.0 was released about 3 weeks ago)
|
Honestly do not remember what the version was, but it was the latest at the time.
|
I cannot duplicate the gray color template bug you posted above. You mentioned it occurs in Firefox and Opera... Firefox is my main browser and I haven't found a combination of options to create this effect. What versions by chance are you using?
Regarding the IE7 button cutoff, that I have reproduced and am currently working on... |
Was using Firefox 2 (latest) at the time. Also tried in FF 3 Beta 5. Same results.
|
Ah, I see it in FF 3. Okay, well now that all of that is fixed, I'm uploading 1.6.2. Hopefully those were all the quirks...
|
Thanks, but still one more issue :x
When I submit a new news post, it redirects me to the home page (yet successfully posting the new thread). However, when your on the home page or inside the CES News area and click on the post title, it redirects back to the home page again. VBSEO related or not? Thanks again. |
I would say it's vbSEO, because I have never encountered anything like that. And I just posted a new news item on my live site the other day...
|
Problem persists with vbseo disabled too
|
Please check your server error logs and make sure you don't have an error 404 happening. Every time a link is clicked to read shownew.php on your site, it redirects to the forum home page. Make sure that in the options your Shownews Filename is set to "shownew"
