using it on 3.6.4..and it's not working..unless i'm doing something wrong..I add all the info in the fields..and it never saves.

T_Richardson 03-01-2007 10:32 AM

Works flawlessly on vB 3.6.4 :up:

Clicks Install!Only one minor problem, my forums use a white font and when viewing the mouseover balloon, you can't see the username because the balloon is also white. I don't want to modify my CSS. Is there a way to edit the font color for it to show?

Thanks..

I'm not getting the vBgooglemap ME link in my AdminCP after I upload all the files. I refreshed as instructed and even logged out and back in again but nothing. No link to vBgooglemap ME.

Any ideas?

EDIT - Nevermind. I got it.

I am having the exact same issue. It has been working great since this hack came out and it just stopped working.

Any ideas?

BTW I am up to vb 3.6.5 now, dont know if that matters.

bada_bing 03-15-2007 01:59 AM

This hack is just as dead and the vbgoogle hotspot as the author had not made any changes in a year...Would be nice to see another coder take this over and add geozip feature rather and L&L as some members dont know that expecially younger kids.

diablo76 03-30-2007 06:02 PM

Edit: my fault! ;)

diablo76 03-30-2007 08:44 PM

Is it possible to move the infoboard, right of the map, down - next to the legend?
Width 50:50 for Legend and infoboard.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

second question:

How can I turn off, that poeple have to set an image, before their marker can be seen.

Tralala 03-31-2007 11:09 PM

/installed

Thanks!

Hi,
any News about the buggy Cronjob?
If Usergroups where Changed in ACP, there where not displayed correctly in the Map.

Tralala 04-01-2007 04:18 PM

I see at one point this automatically placed users Avatars in the bubble. And then it got removed. :( Too much incompatibility with various browsers, I presume?

I'd love the option to get avatars back. Any plans for trying again?

I have to agree 100%. It would be nice to see some other coder(s) take on an updated Google Map MOD. This one was probably best in class a year ago but is in need of some enhancements to be more Web 2.0. Just my opinion and I'm not knocking the MOD, just seeing an opportunity for another coder to take over this type of MOD and make some decent money. I know I would pay for an enhanced version of these MODs.

OK, this is working pretty well in test for us on vB 3.6.4 (Apache2/PHP5/MySQL5/Linux). We have these exceptions:
- Picture display comes and goes. Sometimes scrolling the map helps?
- Some members don't see the pins or links above the on map certain computers.

My advice to those having complete problems (no display) is: recapitulate the install and make sure the cron task is working. That advice may be worth nothing. I can't support the add-on for you any further. As always, the more details you post, the more likely you are to get help. If it was me, I'd post: O/S, vB & add-on versions plus file locations uploaded, plus cron task log.

...

To be clear again: You can wreck things playing around at this level. If you do, its YOUR fault. My code is NOT authorized by Stonyarc and frankly, I expect him to delete this post when he/she returns. For those who have the skills to deal with this, I hope this helps you. I've been helped so much be vb.org over the years.

Thanks very much for sharing this; I very much wanted to enable avatars in the GoogleMap ME on my forum, and so I followed these instructions to a "T." Avatars are, in fact, stored in my forum's database.

And so I made a full backup of my database, created the php (making sure to edit it to match my forum's URL ;) ) and then uploaded the file... created the cron job, and manually ran it.

Then I ran that SQL query... but don't see standard avatar URLs. All I see are the URLs to pics folks have "manually" attached to their map entry. Of course I still don't see any avatars in the actual map, either. In fact, it appears that nothing has changed. So now I am just wondering if there's anything else I can try.

I am running vBulletin 3.6.4.
Server Type: Linux
Web Server: Apache v1.3.37 (cgi)
PHPL 4.4.4
MySQL Version: 5.0.24a-standard-log
Not too many add-ons, everything else is running swimmingly, in fact.

Again, thanks for sharing this!

I've got a weird problem.

Before my migration to VB I installed a VB instance with my current database with the googlemap. Then, when you clicked on a users location the default zoom level (8 in my case) worked flawless.

Now I've installed VB again for production forum and installed the same version of the googlemap but the default zoom level for a user marker won't work.

I saw more people got this problem, anybody any idea what the problem might be?

Thnx

Tralala 04-08-2007 06:28 PM

I'd just like it to zoom to a default zoom level when I click on a marker already on the map. It doesn't zoom at all unless I drag the slider.

I noticed this too... regardless of what I set for "Default zoom of the maps when using a link to show the marker" in AdminCP, when I link to the map from a user's postbit (using $findme) it always zooms at zoom level of 10.

bplinson 04-11-2007 02:27 PM

Does this now work in FireFox? I can see themap in IE but not FireFox.

Is this mod no longer supported?

dadu911 04-12-2007 03:10 PM

How can I show all the users whom already have set their locations automatically rather them posting up a mark. They selected location in USERCP can they show automatically on the map ?

bplinson 04-12-2007 04:43 PM

Without a major rewrite it is not possible.

Kahuna900 04-17-2007 05:25 AM

Is this still being supported? It's work good on 3.6.5, but the Moderators only show as registered users. Does anyone else have this problem?

lefthome 04-17-2007 04:01 PM

Like this hack a lot and only one minor issue that I noticed: in the “Your entry” section; location: Link to your location; To link to your location just copy the correct string and use it in your signature, profile or on your website. You can use any other image you want between the links or just use a small text. To return to the map click here the link is wrong and takes you back to a nonexistent file. Can you tell me how or can you correct this please?

*EDIT*

Never mind. I searched in phrases, found it and made the correction myself.

No matter how I do it, when i view the page, it says my key is not working. I signed up on google, I got the long long key. I entered my exact directory in the google url box

http://warriornation.net/Forum/ which is the directory where this file is and it still thinks the key is wrong and saying the key used on this website was registered on a different website. Could the key not be updating in the plugin somewhere??

Kicks 04-26-2007 04:08 AM

i don´t understand it ..
i can´t see the map.
the key is right, the path´s are right ..

Yet another dangerous 'accessory' for your googlemap, from the reckless bulbasnore. If this destroys your map and your forum, its not my fault.

We have a need to let the displaygroupid determine the map pin color for registered members (groupid = 2). Here is the job we cron in order to do that:

PHP Code:

<?php
/*======================================================================*\
|| #################################################################### ||
|| # ---------------------------------------------------------------- # ||
|| # Copyright ?2007 Kim Cary                                         # ||
|| # This file may be redistributed in whole or significant part.     # ||
|| # You could signficantly damage or destroy your board or computer  # ||
|| # with this file. Author will not be liable for any damages.       # ||
|| #################################################################### ||
\*======================================================================*/

// ######################## SET PHP ENVIRONMENT ###########################
error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE);
if (!
is_object($vbulletin->db))
{
        exit;
}
// ######################## END PHP ENVIRONMENT ###########################

$vbulletin->db->query_write("

        UPDATE  `googlemapme`, `user`
        SET  `googlemapme`.usergroupid =  `user`.displaygroupid
        WHERE  `user`.displaygroupid > 0 AND `user`.usergroupid = 2 AND ( `googlemapme`.userid =  `user`.userid )

        "
);

log_cron_action('Set the googlemap userid to the displaygroup for registered users'$nextitem);

/*======================================================================*\
|| ####################################################################
|| # Version: 5:33, Wed May 2, 2007
|| ####################################################################
\*======================================================================*/
?>

If that helps you, by all means feel free to use it! If you don't know what this is, or how to install it, you are safer not to ask!

Regards,
'snore

Mrdby 05-02-2007 12:16 PM

works great for me.lol

djbaxter 05-07-2007 03:30 PM

I've read and re-read the instructions. Installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled foloowing all the instructions per the ste-by-step PDF file. Set all the options correctly and all group permissions.

I've added my own location - I can see that fine (see attachment 1; vbgme1.jpg).

I see absolutely nothing in the main map and neither do other members (see attachment 2; vbgme2.jpg).

This occurs in both IE7 and Firefox2.

Any suggestions?

**Edit**
I've since discovered that it is my zoints seo addon which is causing the problem. Has anyone found a solution to this yet? Is there a way of possibly excluding the googlemap page form the zoints seo?

I'm working on the new version of all the googlemap versions.

Release is still on target for this year.

As for the SEO issue, SEO and special apps like googlemaps can give issues.

Most SEO products allow you to exclude certain pages from SEO so why not use that till I can investigate the matter. I'm sure the SEO people will look into it also.

It's a little workaround for the incompatibility with zoints and the googlemapme.
I did the code edit on my site and all is working fine now.

The issue is caused by Zoints SEO wanting to rewrite "#top" to '"#top" rel="nofollow"' in the global_complete hook. This edits the javascript in the googlemapme templates and get you a javascript error.

My solution, though it may not be the best long term one, was to edit the global_complete Zoint_SEO hook, changing this

PHP Code:

if (strpos($output'"#top"'))
    {

$output str_replace('"#top"''"#top" rel="nofollow"'$output);
    }

to this

PHP Code:

if (strpos($output'"#top"') && THIS_SCRIPT != 'vbgooglemapme'
    {

$output str_replace('"#top"''"#top" rel="nofollow"'$output);
    }

This way it does not perform the change if you are using vbgooglemapme.

Thanks, Calash and corsacant! :)

I am stuck at stage seven, can some one help please?

djbaxter 05-09-2007 12:16 PM

Suggestion:

Can this be modified to exclude the legend for groups not included on the map?

For example, as a privacy measure, I have the following groups with no permission to view the map:

Guests (Unregistered / Not Logged In)
Users Awaiting Email Confirmation
(COPPA) Users Awaiting Moderation
Banned

Having a legend for groups that don't have permission to view the page seems redundant and is confusing to my members, many of whom are not "technologically advanced".

Awesome, works just great for our community. Thank you for the mod.
