It would be better if the detected multiple accounts will written in a log table in the database (Can also add a search function so that later you can search for user who you want to know that they use multiple accounts or not). And you will not flood by threads and Pms each time.

Divokymuz 05-25-2006 11:49 AM

this is realy the most helpful modification, i ever installed.

thanks for this great work.

maroceve 05-26-2006 10:33 PM

Guys is there a way to disable Vb from putting the messages that AE trips ...When u click on the "get new messages button" ...like so it doesn t get annoying for admins when browsing the latest topics ..

thanks :)

You could set up a forum just for these posts and exclude that forum from the search engine.

admincp > forums & moderators > forum manager > select the new forum to edit > Index New Posts in Search Engine - No

A search of new posts will not show this way. You can also hide the forum from other than admin view so it won't show at all to your users.

This is a great hack.

One issue and one request:

Issue. For some reason, every time the AE Detector reports a violation, it also assigns the same IP to my admin account. If I do a search on my IP addresses now, it shows a lot, and each one is the same IP used by someone that was flagged by AE Detector.

Suggestion, if possible: Set it so that it only announces a violation for a given match, just once. If a husband and wife for example share the computer, then I don't want to see the violation each time. I know I can enter the users as exceptions, but that is more time consuming and also means that a potential violation later by one of those same people would not be flagged.

Thanks!

I have this problem as well, my mods may ban me for having multiple sock puppets if I'm not careful!

I use the create a new thread option and what would be ideal for me would be for it merge all reports into the same thread... somehow I suspect that is anything but as simple as it sounds.

MPDev 05-31-2006 12:09 PM

We tried a workaround for the IP issue, but it didn't work. Because of how the posting section works when you try to post as someone else it's adding their IP to your usernames history.

You would only get one report for a husband/wife as long as they weren't clearing out their cookies; once a report has been made as long as the cookie remains there would be no further reports unless they logged into a third account.

EdQ 05-31-2006 03:19 PM

Still cannot get it to post in a forum. Any ideas?

RemiAlone 05-31-2006 03:28 PM

Mine doesn't seem to work either, is this related to the latest release?

Works like a charm here .... clicks install.

Make sure your forum ID is set correctly (and the user has access to post there).

Make sure the ID number of the PM Sender/Alert poster is correct (see above).

Make sure the last item of the config is ENABLED ("Enable New Thread Creation on Multiple Login Detection").

Make sure that the usergroup # and/or usernames that you're using to trigger the post/PM are NOT included in the configuration "Ignore" fields.

EdQ 06-01-2006 03:45 AM

Thats what I did. I only get the PM. The userID is an Admin.

Same for me. I just got a Pm for 1 Time.
And i've tested it a few time (from other Computers) without any messages.

Paul M 06-01-2006 09:09 AM

You probably have other mods installed that intefere with the standard thread creation process.

NeutralizeR 06-02-2006 11:54 PM

Is it possible to auto-ban the users detected by AE Detector?

johnrizz 06-03-2006 10:10 PM

Thanks! ***install***

MetalAges 06-04-2006 10:26 PM

Installed! I have a huge user base and a lot of issues with banned users returning, so this will be quite helpful. Also issues with multiple account creation. Thanks!

chikkoo 06-05-2006 04:48 AM

Hi..

I installed this Mod and working fine in my forum.
But when I send warning for the members whom I found through AE Detector claim they are not having multiple accounts.

DementedMindz 06-05-2006 05:09 AM

check the ips on the accounts and you will see... if they set it off then they did make more then one account

Steve123 06-06-2006 01:12 AM

I had the problem where it was not posting the threads, after much trouble shooting i have found this hack to be the problem..

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=96018

Uninstall this and it works fine.. i didnt have time to find out why it was causing the problem.

Areku 06-06-2006 10:17 AM

Will this hack work on areas where proxy or dynamic IP ISPs would still connect as users to the forums?

DementedMindz 06-06-2006 10:31 AM

i wouldnt see why it wouldnt as it still stores the cookie no matter what...

lolo? 06-06-2006 10:58 AM

very nice hack ^^ thanks a lot

MetalAges 06-06-2006 03:44 PM

Let me just say this plugin is already making my life much easier in weeding out trolls and troublemakers. I highly recommend this hack people!

tommyxv 06-06-2006 06:53 PM

Hi:
I install this because I know for sure that my forum has several multiple accounts .
But I don’t understand where and how I can see results…
Any screen shot examples?
You mentioned to edit “member.php”… what does that mean? Should I put “forums/member.php”? Or "www.mysite/forums/member.php”?
Thank you for your attention.

Hi

I'm not 100% sure on how to install this.

When I click on the xml file, it opens up a webpage with code. Do I copy that code to a text doc somewhere and then import it?

All the other addons I have used had text files, but this is different.

Any help is appreciated.

Reg

1. go to the plugin system in your admincp
2. then manage products and at the bottom [Add/Import Product]
3. click browse and find the xml you downloaded
4. click import
5. Go to vBulletin Options -> AE Multiple Login Detection Settings and set your specific settings.

should be it

When you click on the product xml in the 'download' box in the first post of thread choose to 'save as' not 'open'. Save it where you can find it on your computer so that once in your forum admincp>plugin system>manage products>add/import product you'll know where to browse to to import it.

jellybaby 06-22-2006 10:33 AM

This is working intermittently for me, anyone else having this problem? Also, is there any known conflict with any other mods?

Thanks

MPDev 06-23-2006 05:56 PM

None that I know of - not sure what you mean 'intermetently'; either the cookies exist or they don't, it should work fine as long as there are cookies to process.

pirlinho 06-28-2006 07:33 AM

Is there such a plugin for vB 3.0.x? I couldn't find anything similar in the 3.0.x section and I'm in desperate need for such a plugin.

I guess I'll have to renew my licence and upgrade.

cOuNtErFiET 06-29-2006 01:29 AM

there is no plugin system on 3.0.x to my knowledge, so no there is no plugin, maybe a hack for it but def. not a plugin.

anywayz so this is legit, when AE Multiple Login Detector is tripped that is definately an alter-ego user on 1 computer right? I need to know for sure cause i do not allow multiple accounts on my board and i have a message saying it was tripped and it was on e of my admins :( ...lol

bashy 06-29-2006 05:16 AM

Hi this is cookie based so its based on the usere computer, if its picked up an admin then be carefull, he may have had to login using another members account if the said member had issues of somes ort.....

But yes it does work well :)

Snake 06-29-2006 06:17 PM

Thanks for this. But how do I edit the PM title "[username] tripped AE detector" and the content of the message?

Firestar.chkn 07-04-2006 06:44 AM

Hi MpDev,

I've been using your detector for quite some time and it's an absolute success. Recently, though, we've been targeted by "MMORPG buy gold" spammers and we have had a case last night, where we had to ban the 3rd username from the same guy after he posted 10 different spam posts on the forums.

Now, to curb this, one of my s-mods suggested that we perhaps ask you to include a feature to automatically put a user in a specific group when one of the other detected usernames is a banned user. I would, for example, want to put the user in a group that is moderated and where the posts has to be approved by the Admin. Then, if the poster proves valid and not a spammer/troublemaker, then the admin can move him to the Registered users group manually, otherwise he can be banned as well.

This is just to try and stop the posts that they make before they are clamped down on.

Please would you consider this feature in the next version?

Thanks again for an excellent hack.
Firestar
