Find This:
PHP Code:

   $botoutput "[QUOTE={$bbuserinfo["username"]}]\n{$newpost["message"]}\n[/QUOTE]\n$botoutput$botsmilie[smilietext]"

Replace with:
PHP Code:

   $botoutput "$botoutput$botsmilie[smilietext]"

Keep in mind that I have not tested that change but it should work perfectly. :)

--edit-- That worked. :) I've removed the quote tag but then it did'nt work. Your code is ok.

Installed this on my forum but no luck. All I got was the bot saying it was not feeling well :|

NOTE: I made it so the bot will see the posts for the forums hes allowed to post in even if that time he does not post. That way he can keep up with the conversations and learn things.
Mine doesn't seem to learn anything... Are you sure it's learning???

It would be nice to have a teaching forum or thread. Where subject could be the question, and body could be the answer...

I'm still trying to figure out how to make it learn... There was the Teachbot hack for vb2 that made AIML files and you'd have to rerun botloader and stuff but why not just go right into the DB with it... Of course if you do that then you don't have the AIML for later in case you have to reset, or something....

I was able to port most of Teachbot but got stuck around creating the AIML file.... then started to think that there has to be a better way...

I have no doubt this will happen someday, this is an exciting hack and I'm sure lots of things will be done with it.

Check that you set the path to the talk.php file correctly in the _talkerbot.php file.

First off thats only if your using my talkerbot.php file that i posted.

Geographic2 01-14-2004 11:21 PM

I'm using your talkerbot hack.

Does yours learn?

EDIT -* DOH! I wasn't using yours... I seemed to have missed page 4 ;)
Lemme check it out.

eXtremeTim 01-14-2004 11:41 PM

It will learn from each post that it made. It takes the conversation and logs it. It then will build some of its replies from that information. If you check out my site you can see that my users have used some words a few times and now the bot has used them a few times as well. I might look at porting the teachbot hack up latter on tonight.
