Maybe those involved should be talking to Tim's parents; if it was my kid, I'd want to know.

I'm seriously hoping that more people who are potential victims have a look at this thread before they decide to go with him and no money upfront.

I hate to throw more gas on this fire but, I paid Tim a $50.00 deposit a while back to have the original 2.0 talkerbot ported to work on 3.5 and after 30+ days of I will have it for your tomorrow I promise, making another payment per his request that it would help him get it done faster, spending two Saturdays waiting all day after being told he would get it done tomorrow for sure, seeing him online and then nothing all day not even a PM or email, endless PM’s that were never answered. I asked him several times to be honest if you cant do it just tell me, oh no it will be done tomorrow, then nothing over and over, I never did get the code.

I think VB.org should stop handling paid requests... it doesnt seem to be working out and people are getting burned on both ends.

Sorry has nothing to do with this topic but felt I should share :P

What about my $40.00 that you never paid back for wrecking my site? Your just a crook in my book.

i say rather than banning him, keep him on - change his user title to master con-artist and ban him from the service request forums. easy does it

MRGTB 11-28-2006 07:11 PM

Well it might make sense to stop him from using PM and take away his User Rank title. But then he'll probably just create another account with a new name, and use that one instead to dupe people. And to be honest, even though I think he should be banned outright. Even that won't stop him, there are still ways around that if he doesn't have a variable IP address to come back with. Like using a proxy for example. So the truth is there is no easy way to stop him doing what he does.

People just need to adopt the attitude here of not parting with any cash first.

hotwheels 11-28-2006 07:30 PM

yup.......banning isn't the answer, and it's sad if he is really only 18. We have alot of great coder's here that are young and do awesome work. Suck's that one person is causing so many problems.

Hello,

If you want to go after him, you need to press criminal charges. These threads don't do anything when no one is actually following up with actual actions. he is ignoring this thread because at some point, this thread WILL die out. They all do.

I would suggest you call paypal, explain the "theft", and have the paypal transaction details ready. His paypal account was verified through his bank. They have all the required info on this kid for you to go after him criminally.

It may require the police or an attorney to contact paypal to obtain the required contact info, but this is the only real way to nail this kid.

Seeing as there are more than one person that has been scammed, you could all file a joint suit against him as well for fraud.

Take legal recourse.
