More than 50% of the users are very active every day, supplying content for me to push to front page as news, which gets more in.

I have one forum area that is members only that gets people in and I PM every new user to get them to go and post an "introduction" about them. A number of the current memebers and myself then go and say "hi" on their intro thread and make them feel like a part of the site straight off the bat. Keeps them coming back!

Also, the arcade is a great mod to use too ;)

When you have hundreds of new members a day, the pm welcome mod is a great addition!

Total today, 221.000 ++ registered users in two years online. ;)

I get around 8-10 now.

BTW about that welcome PM, I think it would be better to send them a PM within an hour of registering. It is so blatantly obvious that it is automated when you get it the instant you register. ;)

Would the cron job just be modified, or would something else need to be modified?

prophecydude 01-26-2007 02:21 AM

Yeah how do you change that?

Adrian Schneider 01-26-2007 02:27 AM

I'm pretty sure it is sent out instantly, so you would have to queue them up and send them via cron instead. I won't go into detail how to do it... just an idea :)

I get 5-10 a month and maybe 1 everything 3 months is active... they just come to still my pictures... dirty buggers.

texasf1racer 02-01-2007 06:33 PM

Right now we're getting more than ever, averaging about 5 new members a week. But most are coming over from 3 other forums because of a new game we are starting this season which one of the regular members from the other forums who created this game has decided to bring to our forum. So once they all join it'll probably slow down a bit again. Also it's not F1 racing season so I am expecting a surge of new registrations when the season starts.

I've submitted my URL to Google etc, but haven't really done anything else to optimize the site for the search engines. I still have alot to learn about that. As a few mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm not interested in how many members join a day or how many members I have, I'm most interested in having many active members, providing a community which they don't wanna leave is key. :)

itrends 02-09-2007 08:41 AM

Around 10+ per day.

Been running the site less than a month and about the hit the 1000 member mark :)

Most the users are very active, there are posts every few mins of every day. There are members that do most my news hunting and they produce content that I can push to the front page meaning all I have to do is watch for spam and approve pictures etc every day or so.

Am now looking to get money back out of it to start saving for the impending server costs :)
