Okay... I've installed it, and I'm having one small problem.

I don't see where to challenge someone on the dropdown menu, on their name.

Did I miss something?

So...you are releasing John's code, charging people for it, and you don't have his permission?

We don't take kindly to piracy round these parts pilgrim.

What about the hack authors? Copyrights? How about previous works? I can see selling styles (original, mind you), but what I saw was trying to sell what is freely available.

Good luck.

RIP. It shall be missed by all! Luckly there's atleast two other places to get the almost 1,000 'copyright free' games!

Don't plan on seeing very many games when the site comes back. Very few people actually got a responce to permission requests!

MissKalunji 02-08-2005 06:45 PM

Ye, i think so too. That`s boring. :speechless: :disappointed:

I know one site with games for v3arcade, but it will cost $20 per month for membership.

To expensive only for downloading games. :tired: :ermm:

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than that for the yearly plan, it works out at less than $7 a month that way.

It is well worth the money in my opinion though, theres normally new games released every single day and there's some great new hacks in the pipeline too.

The owner of that site is responsible for a hell of a lot of the hacks which people have in the first place, thanks to his generosity of releasing them on here or v3arcade.com (before it went offline). He also comes in very handy if any problems aise as he offers superb support and will even go so far as doing custom hacks for people if they are possible and if they are asked for.

Shame to see v3arcade.com vanish so suddenly though, iv'e been waiting for news about the version 3 for ages. :( Kind of puts a big doubt on whether that's going to happen at all now. :(

I hope that anyone who sells games they didn't create without permission gets sued.

Besides, the site isn't down for good. It'll launch with the next version, but with much tighter checks on game releases.

Where can you get at least 1000 copyright free games?

There is no grey area. If they are making a profit off of those games in any way, it is the same thing as selling them. ;)

The people who run the site are making money off other people's work. It doesn't matter how they phrase it, that's wrong.

What really ticks me off is that these a***oles are making money by selling the result of other people's hard work and effort. What have these people contributed to the community? If you asked each of the authors who made the games on these sites if they wanted their work to be sold by someone else, what do you think they'd say?

If you think the games offered on either www.v3arcadegames.com or www.v3arcade.net are 'copyright free' (whatever that means) then you are very gullable

John 02-09-2005 02:27 PM

bitg from the forums has an FTP server where he's hosted a lot of games, here: ftp://63.193.147.196/

He seems to have removed banned games from the server. Although I very much doubt that most of these games are "copyright free" or authorised for use on sites.

So while games are available there, you'll need to check with the authors if you're allowed to use any of their titles on your site.

Harry72 02-09-2005 03:22 PM

Oh thx John - that`s nice. :nervous:

I was simply referring to the legality of it. Even with GPL code you can charge to recoup losses. Another example would be selling a hat for $2,000. The hat just happens to come with Super Bowl tickets as a free gift. All ways to skirt the law. Is it morally wrong? Damn right it is. I think this thread is getting offtrack tho. LOL

Even http://www.v3articles.com/ has copyright issues!!!!! Uggg!!!! You know your cursed when every hack you make has copyright issues!

At this rate it won't be very long before you'll be able to get 1,000 'copyright free' games at v3arcade.org.

eblivion 02-10-2005 01:26 PM

After playing one of the games in IE & Netscape 7.1, it properly redirects me to the arcade.php page.

With Firefox 1.0, the URL itself points to /forum/arcade.php but it says "501Method Not Implemented" in the title bar and the page says:

--------------- BEGINNING OF ERROR ------------------------
Method Not Implemented

to /index.html not supported.Invalid method in request

----------------- END OF ERROR ---------------------------

I reinstalled Firefox and got the same error.

I do use a Mod Rewrite that allows any page my site to be accessed byeither the .html or .php extension. However, I haven't made anyadjustments to the arcade files or templates, so I'm not even sure whythe /forum/arcade.php page would be trying to point to my mainindex.html page when that isnt' even a part of the forum. Plus,it works with all the other browser I've tried and I've had no problemsusing Firefox throughout the rest of the site while access the ModRewrite URLs.

If I need to modify the code, please let me know where the code for the redirect is after a game ends.

Thanks.
