Help. I have racked my brain for hours. Users can't upload. There is no Add Entry Button. Users have permissions, however I still dont get a button to Add an entry. What could it be?

I Use VB 3.8.1

Underlab 02-02-2009 11:50 PM

ok i figured out that for some reason, my users can't upload when i have a synchronization on. I would like users to upload to the synched up directories. Is that possible?

Hi could someone please tell me how to make the links in alphabetical order without having to click on date created: ascending. In one of my catergories i have 100 files and they aren't in order.

Thanks.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me why or if this is an option to change when a PDF is downloaded from the links and downloads manager it actually has the name of the file as the default saving option. Right now its local_links.pdf. It opens in the browser and then if you click on disk to save that is the file name.

Thanks

Any word if this hack works on vb 3.8.1 Patch Level 1 yet?

Thanks,
Sean

jpietrowiak 03-23-2009 11:18 PM

I'm using it now and appears to work.

As far as I recall, this is dependent on the browser and other installed addins on your system. LDM sends the correct headers to tell the browser to give a file its correct name, but the local settings can override them

Ok, I thought that I had the kinks worked out but...

How do I change the forum-based access permissions for the categories? I have set up a paid subscription to access the downloads from the download manager, but it's not giving the subscribers access...

default_forumid = SOTB Club Scrap
default_forumid defines the default forum for the forum-based access permissions system. If set, access to new categories/entries is by default only available to usergroups with can view forum and can view others threads access rights to that forum
Currently no categories/entries are using the forum-based access permissions system

I am only able to turn access on to every registered user or none at all. It won't recognize the permissions set in vbulletin for the paid subscribers...

Thanks in advance,
Dani

Did you set default_forumid *after* creating the entries and categories? Entry and category associated forums are set at the moment you create the entry/category, and do not get changed automatically when you modify default_forumid.

The easiest way to update the forum associations is on the LDM->admin->mass edits page. Select the categories you want to update, select the Parent Forum button, choose the SOTB Club Scrap forum and check the "Also make this forum the parent of all entries currently in the category" box, and submit the form.

Sorry if this is confusing. I am happy to take a look at your site if you want (PM me details, including a username/password with admin rights)

You going to upgrade this for 4.0? I currently use it for map hosting on a Gaming Clan site.

I am in the process of writing the upgrade. It's a lot of work.

viper357 12-15-2009 08:21 AM

Hi Andrew, I have just upgraded from 2.2.7 (which was working perfectly) and now I am getting the following error when I click on any LDM link in the admincp, also the local_links.php link.

Quote:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare cache_styles() (previously declared in /home/*****/public_html/includes/adminfunctions_template.php:2249) in /home/*****/public_html/includes/local_links_include.php on line 1151
I am running 3.6.12

Thanks.

I am running 3.6.12

Thanks.

I'm assuming that you are trying to run LDM 2.2.8-post1 with vb 3.6.12.

I set up a clean installation of these two (you are fortunate - I still had the vb36 code but had to create a new test website to try it out :)), and the error you report does not occur.

I'm sorry - I am not really able to spend much time on vb36 - my free time is fully occupied with vb40:)

viper357 12-16-2009 05:57 AM

Can you give me any indication as to what the problem might be? Is there any way I can roll back to LDM 2.2.7?

Unfortunately, I have not got the time to track this down, but I can't find a release of LDM in which line 1151 of local_links_include.php would trigger this message, so you might want to check that you've got all the correct code installed. There is no problem in re-installing version 2.2.7 - just follow the usual process.

viper357 12-16-2009 07:04 AM

Ok, thanks. one last thing please, where can I download v 2.2.7 again?

Thanks Andrew.

saintsmc 12-16-2009 12:29 PM

From the wiki link in his sig. http://www.eirma.org/wikis/index.php/Installing_LDM

Thanks Andrew.

I have looked some more at the code for ldm 2.2.7 and 2.2.8, and think I know the cause of your problem. It is not specifically related to ldm 2.2.8 - rather, I think it is likely to be an interaction between ldm and another hack that you installed at the same time as upgrading to 2.2.8. This problem was fixed in version 2.2.9, but unfortunately that will not work with vb3.6.

I have no idea which version of ldm 2.2.7 you were using, but I doubt that you will correct the problem by downgrading.

If necessary, I can suggest a fix, but it will require making an edit to one of the code files.

viper357 12-16-2009 03:33 PM

Thanks for taking the time to help me Andrew.

Send your suggestion, I can edit the files no problem.

The following should do the trick.

Edit includes/local_links_include.php.

Find all three occurances of "cache_styles". (In 2.2.8 post 1, these are at lines 1120, 1145 and 1157.) Change cache_styles to ldm_cache_styles. Save.

Let me know if that fixes the problem.

viper357 12-17-2009 06:20 AM

Perfect, working 100%, thank you very much Andrew.:up::up:

I've got a problem....running version 2.2.6
It must be somethng I've done that has somehow affected LDM.
I have a warning message, and the page width/alignment is wrong.

Can someone please look at the link below, and advise what I should do?

http://www.myfavouritecampsite.com/vB/local_links.php

Line 907 reads..... uksort($holdcat, "catcmp");

Many thanks.

Your problem is that your server has a very recent version of php which has different error handling in certain situations. The problem can be resolved by editing the file includes/local_links_include.php and replacing the code for function catcmp (lines 868 to 897 in your version, I think) with the attached.

Take care with the edit, and keep a copy of the original - I haven't supported version 2.2.6 for a long time and hope that the fix does not create new problems.

Is there anything similar to Links and Download manager for vb4?

Alfa1 05-21-2012 01:18 AM

LDM works fine for vb4.12 I have not checked it for vb4.2 yet, but I expect that it will still work fine.
