It is, however, quite sad to see developers run off like this, for whatever reason, especially people who've backed vB with their code for years

Ugh say it isnt so.. Another one bites the Dust.. But with that said i do totally understand... Just wrote a long post about these things on my own forum.. My reasons to stick with vB are diminishing by the day...

Im going to guess that the reason he stopped is because vbulletin's new video system pretty much does exactly what AME does.

What vB needs to do now is make it easy to add additional definitions like AME does.

Is that true? I've never thought to turn off AME to see. If someone pastes in a youtube url vb405 actually embeds it automatically?

No, vb405 definitely does not do automatic embedding.

no.. the link doesn't turn into a video, but if you click the video button and put the link in it does... essentially the same thing.. and it provides service to the same seven or so services too.

I think they both have their place, but if AME is going to wither up and die hopefully vBulletin can expand on their's to include everything AME does.

One embeds automatically and one doesn't. How can you define that as "essentially the same thing"? The whole point of AME has always been that it embeds automatically, with no user input required.

As for making it easy to add new definitions, AME has never been known for that. One guy seemed to have figured it out before, and he made his list available for download, but there was never any easy way to make your own.

I installed 4.0.5 yesterday and it stopped embedding new videos. I was hoping there would be a new update but it looks like thats not happening. :(
