This update broke mine. Now I get an error that my sitemap_index.xml.gz is pointing to a sitemap that doesn't exist. I it worked before the upgrade, other than the loc tag issue.

Now it's adding my forum root to the link to the sitemap when it should just be the site root. Where is this set at?

Upgrade Instructions (Version 1.x to 1.6.1)
============================

(1) Upload all new PHP files for version 1.6.1 to the vbseo_sitemap folder, overwriting the existing ones.

(2) Re-import product xml file in vB admincp (make sure to set "Overwrite" option to "Yes")

(3) Change the .htaccess directives to the 1.6.1 version provided.

(4) IF you are using the cron, update the cron command to the 1.6.1 version provided.
To upgrade 1.6=>1.6.1, you can just upload new vbseo_sitemap_functions.php file.

vissa,

ah, thank you for pointing to this :)

JumpD,

sitemap files are referred to forums root (not site root), so this is fine. Please make sure that you have .htaccess in forums root folder as described in instllation instructions.

The new major release 1.7 with many new features will be available soon! :)

Thanks I was hoping you would do that for us. :D

That's odd, you told me before, and I believe the instructions state, that if your forumroot is below your site root then it should be in site root, if you want to include your front page in the sitemap. Like I said, it worked before this update.

Thank you very much

I'm having the same problem,,

this is my site map link, plus i see 3 files,, what one should I submit ?

http://www.locoforum.com/vbseo_sitem...sitemap.txt.gz
http://www.locoforum.com/vbseo_sitem...temap_1.xml.gz
http://www.locoforum.com/vbseo_sitem...p_index.xml.gz - I'm guessing not this, seeing how it's the smallest ??

I don't think I've been submitting site maps this whole time :(

Jon_Simmonds 03-18-2006 07:22 PM

is there any negative impact from having your threads, posts and archives all in the sitemap, from the "dual content" thing or is this nowt to worry about?

iojam 03-18-2006 07:32 PM

JumpD,

as it is specified in instructions, "B. Open your 'vbroot/.htaccess' file and enter the following code..". It should be moved to the site root only if you include into sitemap URLs that point *above* forums folder. And in this case you should submit individual sitemap files instead of sitemap index.

Loco.M,

you should NOT submit "vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap.*" files. As it was mentioned in this thread, the files to submit are:
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap.txt.gz
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_1.xml.gz
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_2.xml.gz
etc.

Which, as stated, is what I am doing. Like I said, it worked fine before the upgrade. I fixed it by changing some urls in the code. Ones that would probably be better as admin options and not hard coded.

hmm,, for 1, I don't have any files like that ? do I have to transfer the files from data/sitemap/ to my forums root ?
and 2, they are still "gz" formate,, isn't that why I got the message b4 ?

thx for the quick response
