just go into your shout.txt file and clear it out when you want to, thats it! As for delete/edit, this is a very generic shoutbox and you can't do that, as far as I know of, or maybe just go into you shout.txt and change the shout there and save it....Hmmmmm Ill have to give that a try myself. I was hoping when I found this program and posted it here, that someone would step up and make something of it to work better with vB....we are still waiting....

Also, why is it that there are 50 pages of posts and Not One Support Person is trying to fix this problem. In BIG RED BOLD LETTERS its gives you a link for support, yet at that site, they don't offer support either!!!

There is a cron file somewhere, not sure if it's here or vBa that will prune shouts for you. Search for shoutbox and you'll find it, that's how I did.

I want to relate some info I found, the hard way. With newer versions of MySQL the queries for the install of this hack fail. I have attached a file to correct this. If you already ran the install and got to the failure, which says something like "Invalid Default Value '0'," you should comment out the first two queries before running it again. The settings and phrases will not give you problems. Replace the existing file in /install/hacks/shoutbox/14 or something similar.

This only solves the one problem, and I don't purport to know how to fix any others. But I did miss this info somewhere around post 500 in this ridiculously long thread. And I agree, most of these posts wouldn't be here if the people who wrote this fixed it and or it's instructions.

when uploading files, index.php would be your forum home right (not a portal)? So I could call it: forums.php if that's what my forums were located at? Or would I want to edit it to have all our modifications in?

EDIT: It's not forum home. May I ask what it is as I've uploaded everything in the 14 folder except for it. And does it need to be named that?

If you read the directions, the uploads go to /install/. . . with the exception of shoutbox.php AFAIK.

As I posted earlier, there is a cron hack to do it for you.

Search here and/or vba.com for shoutbox and you'll see one about "Auto Prune"

Ok my support issue, it seems that when someone presses enter or clicks Shout Now, it sends that user to /shoutbox.php which is just a white screen, any reason why that is?
