How do we remove the forumhome_vbshout template that still lingers in vBulletin?

How do you revert it? All my templates are updated when I click on "Find Updated Templates".

Parture 06-12-2007 11:59 PM

The old and new version of forumhome_vbshout are the same. I don't want to revert, but completely get rid of it.

How do you do that?

ohgenki 06-18-2007 01:05 PM

erm...does this work for vb.3.6.7?

GoNz00 06-18-2007 01:38 PM

yes

Yes (with bugs)

GoNz00 06-18-2007 01:43 PM

no bugs for me really, apart from it hammering the database, i did do the edits listed somewere in the mass of pages to do with the ampersand &and= issue though,

Shazz 06-18-2007 01:44 PM

You might not see them, but they are there

GoNz00 06-18-2007 01:45 PM

u fancy telling me?

When the 2.1 was just a improvement out of this one, what didn't you like about it?

Well, if you are looking for a similiar hack that is supported might I suggest one of these three. All three by very good coders, and very well supported, and maintained thus far. The choice in which one is best for you depends on the features you need. Personally, I use the MGC Chatbox and it does everything I need, and more, and very light on resources. But, maybe one of the others works betteer for you, so I suggest you compare each one and try it out.

GoNz00 06-18-2007 04:27 PM

the lads on the forum liked the time stamps and the 1 min ago part, they can live without the how long ago, but a working time stamp per zone is a must, and the use of forum smilies is a bonus i would like to keep, i did download MGC but i have not as of yet installed as it still looks work in progress with all the updates.

about time i took another look, thanks for the links im going to check em out..

da420 06-18-2007 04:41 PM

MGC is a great product. It's not complete, because he's adding functionality. There are very few, if any, bug fixes. I have not had a problem with it as far as from the bug aspect. In my forum it works as it should.

Shazz 06-18-2007 04:49 PM

Inferno Shoutbox is nice ;)

Yep, sure is. I used it until I found the MGC Chatbox, which has all the functionality I want, whereas the Inferno Shoutbox did not have them all. :)

After looking closely at it, it does have pretty neat features

And it doesn't cost. ;)

I prefer good old vBShout 2.0 though. :)

GoNz00 06-19-2007 03:02 PM

i installed MCG shoutbox, spot on :)

shavedaccord 06-21-2007 07:45 PM

Is it possible to add a custom command for admins to chat amongst each other without normal users being able to see it? Or maybe add a separate shout box in a specified forum that only admins/mods have access too?

dastardly 06-25-2007 02:46 AM

Does anybody know how I can disable Quotes and ampersand from being displayed in HTML codes ( < posts as < and whatnot)

give up on this unsupported mod and install MCG shoutbox, you set usergroup permissions for the /team tag, and then admins can chat to each other.

Piccante 06-30-2007 09:28 AM

Has anyone tried MCG on 3.5.4 though?

bigwest 07-05-2007 04:26 PM

Two questions....

1. How do you turn off the timestamp?
2. In my vbadvanced module my vbshout appears to be in essentially 3 columns...
[ timestamp ] [ user who shouted ] [ shout text ]

This makes my shouts really skinny and off to the right. How do I make them all in one column so the wrap under themselves?

I attached an image of my problem.

I would rather the shout appeared like this....

USERNAME:
this is the shout
content that the user shouted
when he shouted
OTHER USER: I like shouting
in this shoutbox.

vitrag24 07-11-2007 10:20 PM

i have only one problem with this shoutbox.

vitrag24 07-17-2007 06:41 PM

Shazz 07-17-2007 06:48 PM

Please take note that the default flat version takes away time stamps and a few other details that this shoutbox has now.
It does fix alot of other problems

Arrogant-One 07-29-2007 09:57 AM

Hi,

I have recently installed a shoutbox on my vb board. Its not complete though. Can someone please tell me how I can:

a.) Have the names of the shouter underlined and bolded; and
b.) Have the time of the shout displayed in the shoutbox itself (without having to click the word shoutbox in order to find this information out)?

Thanks,

Alex

The easier way for these features would be to install ZT's updated version of vBShout.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hlight=inferno

If you feel that you want much more, try his Pro Version ;)

Matt

I think I already have gone basic. My forum is www.ozchess.com.au - Could someone please tell me what I need to do to bold or underline the name of the shouter and have the times of the shouts displayed in the shoutbox? Surely a whole new install isn't required for that, hopefully - :)

jerseyda6 08-02-2007 01:17 AM

got a couple questions...

how can i stop people from editing their own and other peoples shout.

can i set it so only admins can prune and edit shouts only not mods?

thanks

vitrag24 08-02-2007 05:03 PM

just special characters problem..plz solve it only nothing else i want.
