  2. This isn't possible at the moment and isn't very easy to create quickly. Although it isn't very difficult also (add a new field to the user table and check for it, so that's an easy thing). I will look into this to create a plugin for it ;)
  3. This is one of the top requests: custom file fields. I can't promise anything, but ofcourse we will try to get this in the next big release.
  4. Adding a search box to the left column isn't very difficult, just an easy template edit:
    Open the downloads_wrapper_site template
    Find:
    Code:

    <br />$dl->downloadsmessage
    Above add:
    Code:

    <div align="left">
            <form action="./downloads.php?do=search" method="post">
            <input type="text" name="query" maxlength="75" size="20" />
            <br /><input type="submit" name="submit" value="{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_search']}" />
          </form>
    </div>

  5. The same as point 5, just another code to add, your advertising code (img or something else).
  6. This requires file edits when you want a field for this in the category admin. If there aren't a lot of categories, you can use template conditionals.
    Place them below $navbar in the DOWNLOADS template.
    For example:
    Code:

    <if condition="$cleancatid == '5'">
    <img src="http://www.yoursite.com/images/banner.gif" alt="banner" />
    </if>

    Ofcourse you just change the number 5 to the correct category id.

To become default: I really want a search field placed on each page in a next big release, so that will become default normally. We are also considering the custom file fields like I said. I don't think the custom category fields for advertisements are going to make it to become a default feature, not that many people would use this.

1. I meant posting comments not files sorry. eg. close the thread. I want to close the file, so they can still download but not post comments.

2. Okay cool and to help out, this site is using DownloadsII it appears and they have implemented pretty much everything im looking for, so maybe if you take a look at this site, it will help you to implement some of the features.
Code:

http://www.mpcdownloads.com/forums/downloads/Age-of-empires/HODXP.zip/3957.html
This link above will show you the disclaimer they have integrated somehow.

**I also was wondering if you could possibly make the links either like they are and vbseo compliant as well. If you need to know more on this let me know, as a lot more people are using vbseo it would be great to have it default.** (The above link has been made like that because of vbseo)

3. That would be great. It would really help out, and when you do it, it may be wise to have it usergroup permissioned as well. eg. only mods can change the status.

4. I was trying to get a search box like the one I showed you in the pic with the drop down menu with those extra options. The one in the above link works. on my site www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/files.html the search works, but the drop down menus do not work. here is the code I used.
Code:

<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: searchbox -->

<table cellspacing="3" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="tborder"><table class="tborder" align="center" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
 <tbody><tr>
  <td class="thead" colspan="2" align="center"><span class="smallfont">Search Downloads</span></td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
  <td style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); background-position: right center; background-repeat: repeat-y;" align="center" background="images/newskin/misc/rowbg3.jpg">
<form action="./downloads.php?do=search" method="post">
        <input type="text" name="query" maxlength="75" size="20" />
        <br />
        <p><select name="where"><option value="1">Title</option><option value="2">Description</option><option value="3">Author</option><option value="4" selected="selected">Search All</option></select>&nbsp;
        <input type="submit" name="submit" value="{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_search']}" /></p></form>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>

<!-- END TEMPLATE: searchbox -->

Also What is the code you have used to create the boxes around things eg. latest files. As that is the box I would like to get around the search box.

5. Thanks

6. Thanks, although that may be a possibility for now. Once I start adding around 50 categories I think it will be a bit messy maybe.
Is there any easier way? or a possibility of it being easier in the next version?

Thanks for your reply and hope im not being to much trouble.

Can it protect link? prevent ppl hotlink?
Thanks

I have this rather strange issue on a new install on vb 3.60 where no template files was altered. Logo image does not display in any style, when in page downloads.php?do=add&cat=

it displays fine in other pages. A view source shows the logo as being there.

Unless someone has ftp access to your site (where he can see the actual file name in the downloads folder), hotlinking is very unlikely. The file that is actually delivered to the user is copied from it's true location, renamed, delivered to the user, then deleted.

Can you attach some pics of what you mean? Are you talking about the vbulletin image in the upper left hand corner? If yes, it should be there.

hi, i just PM you a link with username and passwd.

the problem appears to be in the downloads_wrapper_top template

Lionel 11-03-2006 11:59 AM

The problem appears to be with IE only.

Right, IE only and only on your site when the "Add" option is selected. I'll look into it some more.

One problem is that the page itself has a lot of errors. Please note that DownloadsII is valid xhtml 1.0. Used with the standard vbulletin style, the problem you are having doesn't occur. So ... somewhere there is a funky html code in a template you've modified that is causing the problem.

For example, here is a site that uses DownloadsII ver 5.0.4. Check out the validation: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...%3Fstyleid%3D1

Compare that to your site: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...doctype=Inline

There's probably something really minor that needs tweaked. I'll keep looking too. In the meantime, it would be good if you tried to clean up some of the errors.

BTW - I'd encourage everyone to run your site through: http://validator.w3.org/

Here's a site that doesn't validate yet works fine: http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/d...o=file&id=1292 ODD!!!

I did find an oddity in the template downloads_file.

Look for this:
PHP Code:

    <tr
     <
td class="alt1" width="25%">{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_file_name']}:</td>
     <
td class="alt2" colspan="2" valign="middle" align="left" width="90%">{$file['name']} ($size)</td>
     <
td class="alt1" rowspan="2" valign="middle" align="center" width="28%"><a href="downloads.php?do=file&amp;id={$file['id']}&amp;act=down" {$target}><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/download.gif" alt="{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_download']}title="{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_download']} {$file['name']}border="0" /></a></td>
    </
tr

Remove the width="90%" and see if that makes a difference when you are viewing the details for a file.
