im uninstalling this crap, i mean hack.
This is the best portal addon for vB released in my opinion, and is a winner of the most recent Hack of the Month.

If you cannot install it, don't blame the hacker or the hack. Calling this hack crap is unnecessarily rude and does not reflect well on your character.

xtremeathlonxp 04-11-2003 01:22 AM

I have tried to enable more styles in the admin cp but when I do the homepage image links are broken is there a way to fix this.
I would like to have more than the default style

Are others that are having the same problem still using earlier versions? since i first posted it seems that there has been other members installing without a problem, what version of vb are they using. I realy want to go public with this!

Thanks in advance

TECK 04-13-2003 02:25 PM

Read the readme file, properly.

trafix 04-13-2003 02:30 PM

Yeah, Sorry TECK..I worKed it out.....Great Hack

deepdark 04-13-2003 04:08 PM

TECK the img code is not working is whowing a link not the picture?

TECK 04-13-2003 08:09 PM

We have support forums, do you use them?

deepdark 04-13-2003 08:37 PM

nope where ? is that support forum?

TECK 04-14-2003 11:44 AM

Please, read the first post properly.

Floris 04-14-2003 11:54 AM

It seems it is required for you to proof you have a license, and you need to register on his web site to make his community grow. Before you can get support.
Even though he posts his hacks here.

And the first post is just too big to quickly find what you have to do
there are 500 ++++ing rules to apply to before you are allowed to even blink your eyes.

As usual, your quick judgements are wrong.
You are the type of person who knows only to complain with no base on his(her) affirmations.

You only know how to criticise some and kiss other's asses.
I feel sorry for you and your life...

Floris 04-14-2003 12:20 PM

`Can I get support in this thread teck' ?

TECK 04-14-2003 12:35 PM

"The hacker cannot guarantee to provide support for this hack."
Rule no. 6:
Quote:

You must offer a way to contact you if the installers have questions or problems. If you don't want to provide support for your hack - then you must state in the first post that your hack comes with no support.
My way to provide support is through my forums. Is my right, as stated on the vBulletin.org rules...
Funny, even with this, this script is the 2nd most installed for vBulletin. Something is wrong, since I have such crappy rules and since my post is to long to read, right xiphoid?

If is so complicated for you vbHome (lite), you want to tell me why you installed the script on several web sites, charging money for it?

Floris 04-14-2003 12:50 PM

The hack is great,
the first 100 lines are cluthered and I don't think it is fun to have to register on other forums just to get support on a community where I already registered (here).

I even charge money to install lesane's hacks.

TECK 04-14-2003 01:22 PM

Then you should post those comments to all hackers who post hacks with no support.
Is not you who make the rules at vBulletin.org site. Those rules aply to all of us but you are the only one who is never happy with something. It has to be something in every hack that bothers you.
Instead of posting constructive positive comments, you take a hammer and start hammering everything, like you are the father of PHP or vBulletin.

At least make sure your comments are acurate.

Floris 04-14-2003 01:35 PM

The thing with ranting and flaming is, you don't have to be accurate.

deepdark 04-14-2003 03:20 PM

if the hacker can't support why than is posting this f*** hack .

The hacker IS providing support for this hack.......cant you read, about 4 posts before yours.

Please reframe from offencive posts, it is just not called for.

P.S. I beleave this is one of the best hacks available for VB. If you dont like it....dont use it!

Logician 04-14-2003 04:40 PM

Friends,

According to the vbulletin.org rules, hacker has right NOT to give support for released hacks. So if Teck has chosen to do so (or not giving his support here), this is ok.

Please understand that the hacks released here are all FREE and we are just grateful to all hack authors who are sharing their work with all fellow vbulletin users without commercial intentions. It would be really very unfair to expect the hack authors force to commit more time to give support for their released hacks. It would also lead many hack authors choose not to release their hacks if they are forced to give support here.

So whether a hack has support of its author or not, it is welcomed here in vbulletin.org provided that it complies with board rules (Teck's hack does). If you don't like to install such a hack, that is your call, then do not install it. But please refrain from comments what will offence hack authors who are helping us having a great hacking community here.

Also please do not clutter hack threads with discussions not related to the hack itself and share your thoughts about vbulletin rules or policies or eachother in site feedback forum or via private messages, if you have further comments.

Thank you!

PS. I don't have a subscription in this thread, so please do not address me here, if you feel urge to reply me. Thx!

using v4.2 . . got a few quick questions. .

should i be seeing the vbHome section in the forum admin after running the vbhlinstall script?

the vbhome options need to be set in this section before it will work right?

cant seem to figure out what i missed. . been through the readme line by line many times. . verified/uploaded the relavant files . . ran the uninstall/install script a bunch too. . read through this thread and it doesnt seem to be a known issue. . (so its probably me) . . seems straight forward enough and all the new templates are there but the vbhome admin isnt in there in vbulletin options

thanks for the help. .

I just installed the hack and everything works except i am getting an error:Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',', expecting ']' in /home/gambler/public_html/forums/newthread.php on line 280
can anyone suggest a solution to this, nobody in my forum can post a new thread.

gmarik 04-20-2003 08:03 AM

Does anybody of you have custmoized it? Need it for my board webmaxtor.com, if you got an idea, e-mail me or ICQ, I'll help you with design, in case you need a custom style for vB.
Code like on vbulletinstyles.com? If so, can you give some links or just good instructions? Need to do it, don't know how. :ermm:

212rikanmofo 04-20-2003 05:16 PM

You know what to do from there. ;)
