Question,

My friend has this script installed and I am considering installing it as well. My question is, that since it is all editable via the control panel, what if you want to have multiple pages with different information. Say you wanted have 2 different pages, one for music and one for movies. I know in the pervious versions of vbhome you were able to edit the index.php file to include articles from a certain forum and to include or not include certain threads for the lastest thread part. With the control panel options, it sets up to use the same artilces and same lastest threads on all the pages with this script.

So my question is how can I customize, if it is possible, what appears on my different index pages? Can I make it to where different content appears on all of them? I hope this makes sense :)

Thanks for your time,
Emma

If you mean can you have multiple portal pages attached to one forum with different news and polls then i have the same question. I'm trying to do the same thing currently.

DPoole 03-28-2003 12:54 PM

Anyone help - it may already ov been posted here but 185 posts is a lot to search though in anyones books.

Ok i have installed this twice now

and i can get most of it to work - i get everything down the left hand side as it should be but nothing appears in the middle no matter what - is just a big blank space also take a look at this small gif - i cant see the posts that should be there so any help on this would be apprec.

I have gone over this many times and no matter what end up with same results..

I mean its one of the easiest hacks to do so unsure why im getting these probs.

DPoole 03-28-2003 03:15 PM

Suzzed out my probs :)

Now one final one

Is it possible to move the recent posts to the far right and leave the news in the middle and if so can someone tell me how as at moment my Vblite page takes some scrolling down at moment

WoodiE 03-29-2003 01:24 PM

I just tried to upgrade for 3.5 to 4.2 and I receive this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare archive_nopermission() (previously declared in /home/rcnitro/public_html/global.php:378) in /home/rcnitro/public_html/forum/admin/functions.php on line 2529

I do have TECK's archive hack also installed, is this the problem?

-WoodiE

TECK 03-29-2003 02:23 PM

Yes, there is an add-on made for vbHL related to archive, better then the VB one.

WoodiE 03-30-2003 09:12 PM

Ok I've managed to fix the above problem, how this is what I have:

I used to have the vbArchive 1.3 for vBulletin installed, I have recently upgraded to vbHL 4.2 and have completely uninstalled vbArchive 1.3 and have installed vbArchive 1.4 for vbhl 4.2.

Since I have upgraded to vbHL 4.2 I have had MANY problems. (I should have stayed with 3.5)

As of right now, the Archive link on the main page (www.rcnitrotalk.com) will take you to the archive page, click on a forum and that also works, but click on a THREAD and I receive "The page cannot be displayed"

Also

How can I make the "Friendly URL Link" to work again. I once had the "LINK EACH FORUM/THREAD DIRECTLY TO ARCHIVE FILES" mod/hack for 1.3 installed, but this link no longer works with 1.4, what do i have to do to make it work again?

I also with vbhl 4.2 my bbcode works in the forum, but not on the front page. Example, I insert an image in a thread...it works fine in the forum, but the main page (vbhl) only shows the link.

Whats up?

I got this error when Installed this. This is when I tried to goto www.allhiphop.com/community

Fatal error: Failed opening required './community/admin/config.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in D:\WebPublic\allhiphop\community\global.php on line 743

SpankMe 03-31-2003 02:14 AM

I've had several users complaining that the welcome panel is sometimes coming up with someone else’s name. I have never seen this myself.

2root4u 04-05-2003 12:11 PM

Just a note on another neat way that vbHome can be used. Before even seeing logician's WEBTEMPLATES hack, I wanted the ability to show static-looking pages based on threads. Having already installed vbHome, I figured it would be nice to use its functionality for each static page. You can see what I did at:

Yes, but I don't want a php file for EVERY static page I want. I had been using that tutorial prior to make my setup more flexible.

Another thought...If we added another field to the thread row (articleview), then there could be a flag set in the edit forum and setting up article views would be even easier.

I have no clue how to change the look of this thing, could someone heklp me out please? Do I edit the index.php file to make it look different? I thought it was template driven but there is no new templates created by this hack.

grace819 04-08-2003 05:41 AM

Does anyone know how to make vb lite look like this: http://www.badassuniverse.com/

Imprezer 04-08-2003 05:54 AM

Big J,

You have 2 diff header templetes. One for forums and one for home. They are located in their own templete groups. Just edit them accordingly.

Ok Here is what Is going on with a recent issue of mine.

I have two licensed forums running on my domain with vbhome tied into one. I wanted to resolve the cookie to path issue so I put the /forums and /buzzchamber in the Path to Cookie section under VBulletin options.
This made it so you could sign into both forums at the same time and not lose either setting. Unfortunately, what it did do is it wouldnt allow you to retain your settings on the home page on my site..so now I am back to the issue of two forums and losing the settings when I sign into one or the other.

It seems to me though that I cant seem to retain path to cookies on vbHome when I also am retaining them on VBulletin.

deepdark 04-08-2003 07:49 PM

yes i olso want to know why the added pictures are not showing on the home page??

deepdark 04-08-2003 07:56 PM

I had this same problem at one time. Change your code from [IMG] [/IMG] to [IMAGE][/IMAGE]

Here is a quick question. I have not updated to the new VB home Lite yet. In the version I have you can choose whom you want to have post votes on the index page buy putting there ID number in the Admin control panel. But the question I have is. I want everyone to post votes to be viewed on the index page. If I leave it blank I get an error when the index page tries to load. Is there something I can put in that field so everyone can post to have votes on the index page?

seangworld 04-09-2003 05:50 AM

im uninstalling this crap, i mean hack.
