I used to use infern vbshout with vb3.8 but yesterday upped everything to vb4, and could not get that to work, after messing about I installed this vbshout - and even though its not enabled to work on my vbadvanced homepage, the old inferno vbshout has started working again ? is as if ones feeding of the other somehow?

Im confused.

oh - vbshout on a vbadvanced homepage seems to kill the online users module.

It will not work in the sidebar because the amount of editor controls are too large for it to be used in the sidebar.

You can move it anywhere you want, if the automatic deployment doesn't suit your needs, by editing the instance and following the instructions on the screen :)


They are completely unrelated, though I don't discount there may be some conflict. Did you remember to import the proper XML file for vB4?

That's a bug in vBAdvanced they have thus far refused to fix, there's sadly nothing I can do about this :(

I've got a problem with the timestamp. I wanna use a detailed date/time format in the forums, but a simple {vb:var time H:i:s} stamp in the vbshout... but it won't work with this timestamp. Any ideas?

Am back running vbshout.
Tried a number of the others. Some did some things better, others worse.
All in all - vbshout seems to work better for us.

2 issues with 5.3.1 though...
1. When I add to the Homepage for vbadvanced there seems to be a javascript bug between vbshout and the online users module. I've some free time coming up, so will see if I can narrow it down.

2. When a user creates a chatroom, invites aren't working. Have tried /chatinvite and /invite to no avail. However if I (as admin) get invited it works. Clearly a permission setting, but I can't figure out which one.. Any ideas?

Looked for a changelog between 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 but can't find one.. Maybe (fingers crossed) these are fixed?
Will be updating over coming days (along with vB itself) so will see.

The Lite version does not support stand-alone shoutbox.

The method of timestamps is hard-coded, that cannot be changed at this point in time :(

This is a bug in vBAdvanced that they've thus far been unwilling to fix.

.2 did contain some bugfixes regarding chat rooms, maybe it got solved there :)
