Thanks for this, finally got it working :)

sydude 07-07-2006 04:13 PM

Kall, great hack, thanks. I have a couple of questions please, which I would be most appreciative if you could help me with.

1. If I disable the hack and turn on HTML on the Forums level, I can copy and paste web pages or content right into the message field of a new post, and vBulletin will perfectly parse the HTML. But this doesn't work if I use the hack - if I copy and paste, it will just turn it into BB code and that will not preserve the formatting. And if I open the source HTML and then copy and paste the raw html with the hack enabled, then the formatting is usually totally messed up, probably because of all of the javascript, etc. Is there a way to enable the hack and still be able to copy and paste pre-parsed HTML in from a browser window, instead of having to enter in only simple HTML?

2. I installed this hack last year, and my version number in the product manager was 3.50. I just downloaded and installed (with overwrite) 3.51, but the version number in the product manager is still 3.50. Is that ok?

3. In the plug-in system, for 'Hook Location:bbcode_parse_start' I have two 'Allow Usergroups to post HTML' entries, one disabled and one enabled. I assume that's from the upgrade process. Should I delete the disable one?

Thank you again.

Sy

Hi Sy,

1. Ummm... it doesn't change it into bbcode for me. It doesn't make the page look perfect, as you say..but not turn into bbcode. I am stumped.

2. Yup, perfectly ok.

3. Yes please, as with '2.', it was probably a typo on my part. :)

Doesn't matter what I type, come sup as text, and so I have to manually enable HTML, add my post, then disbale it (for security reasons obvioulsy), which defeats the purpose of the mod doesn't it.

I can tell from everyone else's post that this mod works, so know it must be something on my board, would appreciate any help, anyone can offer...

I'm having the same problem (3.5.2 with updates).. Did you ever figure this out?

I'll uninstall if there's no fix.

What are your PHP and mySQL versions?

What flavour of Linux (or Windows) server?

What version of Apache?

I ask because 296 other people have had no problems with this.

Thanks for responding.

Linux 2.4.21-40.ELsmp
Apache 1.3.36 (Unix)
PHP Version 4.3.11
MySQL 4.0.27-standard

I'm not so sure that some others aren't having a problem and maybe not know it? I didn't realize it until recently even though it's been installed for a bit. Also, I'm having the exact same problem as others have noted and as described by "majoreyeswater".

It works in that past and present posts containing html, that are made by users who are not in a usergroup that is currently html enabled, are not html parsed and past posts made by persons in a usergroup currently enabled for html posts are html parsed. However, if someone in a usergroup currently approved to post html, makes a post containing html, it will not be html parsed unless html was enabled for the forum being posted in at the time the post was made.

So it would appear that posts are somehow "marked" at post time for html parsing but I can't figure out where or how this occurs.

bada_bing 08-07-2006 03:01 PM

I have installed and reinstalled this hack on vb 3.5.3 and enabled html parse in usergroup admin and it does not work. The html does not get parsed and just shows up as html code... Can someone look at this issue I would like to use this :surprised:

issa 08-11-2006 04:32 PM

I'm currently using this in 3.54 and it's working beautifully. Is this working on 3.6 as well?

Majidm 08-12-2006 08:14 PM

Please Fix Tables. It does NOT parse Tables correctly. There is a giant space above the < Table >

Svenna 08-14-2006 09:06 AM

Does this extension function to 3.6 also in the new version vBulletin?

mgurain 08-19-2006 11:54 AM

Hi Kall,,

Will this work on 3.6 or needs update ? It is very important to me your nice work here.

thanks in advance,,

Svenna 08-19-2006 02:09 PM

works on 3.6

mousi 08-20-2006 04:50 AM

When I try to post a table with html it doesn't parse it. It parses other html code though... The table i'm trying to post is like this:
<table cellspacing="0"><tr><td align="center">something</td><td align="center">something else</td>.....</tr>
<tr><td align="center">something</td><td align="center">something else</td>.....</tr></table>

bada_bing 08-22-2006 01:50 PM

Anyone get this to work on vb 3.5.3 ?

Dumi 08-30-2006 03:36 AM

I'm getting an invalid file spec when trying to import from server and upload.

P.S: People having trouble with TABLE tags, your css is probably interfering with it.. or you are doing something wrong entirely:

Works for me.

Officially? Well.. it's working on vBE, that's running 3.6.1, and NZB running 3.6.0.

If I ever get enough time, there are issues I would like to fix:
  • Not make it parse html in code, php and html blocks
  • Add a 'Parse HTML in this Post?' checkbox (to workaround the above issue)
  • Work out why tables don't quite seem to work for people
  • Remove the <br /> visible in thread previews

And probably a few more.

zafrir 10-03-2006 06:42 PM

3.6.1 - What about TABLES?

Read the bold bit in the First Post and then the post immediately above yours.

PoetJA-1975 10-05-2006 12:26 AM

very nice hack - one question though - possibly a dumb one, but o-well...
example: I want to post html code-only in the news forum - thread title is Represent JpiC On Your Website...

I'm posting as ADMIN and ADMIN is the only usergroup that parses html... Is there a way for me to not have the html code parsed, so that my users will be able to copy the code for their website?

what I don't want parsed:

HTML Code:

<center><a href="http://JPiCForum.info"><img src="http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/1202/jpicad30pa.gif"></a><br />
Read My Poetry<br />
And Post Your Own For Free<br />
<a href="http://JPiCForum.info">JPiC Forum For Writers</a></center></center>

At anyrate - thanx for the hack = very useful ;)

Jacquii.

JohnBee 10-25-2006 02:13 PM

Great idea.

Doens't work with 3.5.5 though. Assuming we post embded video in threads, the admins are they only ones who can do this. (great!)

After I post it, all the other admins can see it, but the moment a regular or unregistered members comes to view the thread, the contents change to unparsed html (not great)

We tried various combinations to ge this to work enable/disable html in forums etc. nothing changes this phenomenon.

Any ideas?

JohnBee 10-25-2006 06:13 PM

Okay - I've gone through the entire thread. Looks like this is a common problem.
I will uninstalled the hack until a solution or update is presented.

It's a great idea, I hope it gets fixed soon...

SloppyGoat 10-31-2006 01:45 AM

I installed it and it seems to be working perfectly in 3.6.2, so far. Nice!
