Mine is working on Gold, though if a title/comment/entry window is left blank and you try to submit the message, there is a blank error.

You could try vb.org's Smiley Sets section. :)

Not sure if this has been noted here, but I've noticed that entries with quotes appear as quot; , so I'm not sure what's causing that.

Antiblank 10-09-2005 02:58 AM

I'm trying to test out the privacy feature of this hack, with the use of the Journal Buddies.

The problem I'm facing is when I click the link on journal.php to "Show Journal Buddies" it tells me:

You do not have any journal buddies.
Click here to edit your journal buddies.

So I click an it brings me to the Buddy List manager on my profile page for vB. I add in the people I'm testing with, click to update my list, go back to the journal and it still shows me that I have no journal buddies.

Is there something I'm missing here?

However, if you want to fix this yourself - in journal.php find:
Code:

        'journal_top_rated',
        'journal_toppage'

Replace that with:
Code:

        'journal_top_rated',
        'journal_toppage',
        'showthread_quickreply'

Cheers for that!

I am also wondering if there is a way to show in a users postbit, if they have a journal going, a link to the journal?

Cheers!

Maybe even an icon indicating a new journal entry... ;) What I was wondering is if anyone had replicated the Latest Entries table for use on a Portal or on Forumhome?

Schwartz12 10-09-2005 10:52 AM

I'm getting a no permission when I run journal.php

I haven't updated the templates but should that matter?

I just want to play around with it first before releasing to my members.

Any idea why?

Running on 3.5 gold, newly installed.

It's there already in the Popup.

@Schwartz12
Check your permissions

If you mean user permissions i tried accessing the page on my admin account and then on a test account.

Neither worked.

When I typed in domain.com/forum/journal.php I get this error

"username, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Did you goto: Control Panel > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager
Then pick Administrator (to start) and edit the permissions. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and you should see the permissions for the journal. They all default to No.

See attached. I checked the templates and it's supposed to say about not having less than 10 characters in an entry. Talking of blank stuff I'm able to leave blank comments. I don't know if that's by design or what?

I'm getting that too ...

Anyone know what needs to be edited to fix this?

kall 10-11-2005 10:21 AM

Where can I find the option to display Journal links in member list? It doesnt show for me. :(

Andreas 10-11-2005 10:37 AM

Not yet implemented, as pre-final Version of vBulletin 3.5 didn't have the necessary Hook :)

Same problem for me.
When I activate admin to do everything on permissions including: Can administer vbJournal, settings are not saved. I mean I clicked on YES, SAVE (show succesfully saved), but when I come into again it is on NO.
Any help?

Andreas 10-11-2005 03:19 PM

If it says that it is deactivated then it is deactivated. :)

1) Product is activated.
2) Files are correctly updloaded
3) My mySQL version is 3.23
4) my admincp directory has another name: adminya
5) ACP > Permissions admin > admin > Can administer vBjournal. Click on Yes. Click on SAVE. But it doesnt appear any vbjournal options on ACP, and when I got into ACP > Permissions admin > admin > Can administer vBjournal it is OFF again.

at this very moment I'm rebuilding the cache.

Any help?
Thanks in advance!

Andreas 10-11-2005 04:03 PM

5) Is the problem then - you must have permission to administer vBJournal in order to turn it on.

dethfire 10-11-2005 09:25 PM

Any way to show the journal entries desc instead of asc?

Any idea for repairing it?
Maybe an SQL sentence to modify permissions?

dethfire 10-11-2005 10:07 PM

Quotation marks aren't working there.

When I type:

Quote:

"stuff"
I see:

Andreas 10-11-2005 10:11 PM

@smdani
I think it is this Bug

@dethfire
Where exactly?
I've had reports about this before but was not able to reproduce the problem.

smdani 10-11-2005 10:54 PM

Hi KirbyDe,
is not that bug, I think:
1) I did Please check if it works after calling index.php?do=buildbitfields and was fine
2) I modified again permission to yes, no error, but it doesnt change
3) I did alter table administrator add customadminperms int(10) not null default '0' and told me it was a duplicated field

¿Can I change manually permissions on the table?
Which is the field? customadminperms? Which is the correct value?

Maybe is the language? I dont use english default, but spanish.
or maybe is the template? I dont use default vb template but modified one.

Thanks again

Andreas 10-11-2005 11:04 PM

OK, if it is not this Bug - please send me a PM with an ACP Login so I can take a look at it.

smdani 10-11-2005 11:38 PM

I think it's a vb problem because it happens in my links directory hack too. It occurs when you edit a journal post with quote marks or ampersands. I suspect that the parser is escaping the special HTML symbols too many times.

Stupid question alert:

I see that you say sql 4.0.4 is required, I have 4.0.25-standard installed and really don't want to do a sql upgrade unless absolutely neccessary. Do you know for sure it won't work or is it that 4.0.4 is the version you wrote it on?

I'm using 4.0.16 and the journal works fine.

I said at least mySQL 4.0.4 is required (due to the fact that the install code uses multi-table updates).
You are running mySQL 4.0.25, which is newer than 4.0.4 so there won't be a problem.
Even if you were running an older Version, just a few queries upon install would fail, but the script itself would work just fine.

Emil 10-13-2005 08:34 PM

I tried to uninstall vBJournal but I then get the following error right after I click the uninstall button: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: fetch_table_info() in /home/dashadys/public_html/admincp/plugin.php(1025) : eval()'d code on line 10

Any way to fix this so I can uninstall it? Thanks

Andreas 10-13-2005 08:35 PM

@Emil
Please report it as a Bug so I can take care of it in the next Version.
Thank you.
