yeah nevermind that it was an error with my ffeed info :P works perfect as usual Clicks install

Hello,

What kind of problem causes the error above?
I am getting the same error from my first feed.

Also, does this plugin have a history?
I would like to avoid duplicate thread postings.
(I had major troubles with 3.0.x and the "Article Bot")

Here is the first RSS I'm trying to use with this plugin and vb3.5

http://www.pokergazette.com/trak/fclick.php?fid=rss
[
{XML[title]}

{XML[description]}

{XML[link]Read more... (this is wrapped by URL tags... can't post that for some reason...)

Thank you,

-Raymond @ WNYPoker.com

(You can see my feed posts in the Poker Articles and News forum)

Is it possible to make it so the Thread Post RSS Construct allows HTML?

subnet_rx 10-04-2005 02:07 PM

I think I figured out the error. Try setting your flood post option to 0 seconds, meaning users do not have to wait to post again. I don't know why, but these automatic posts have to obey the same rules as a regular user.

NxTek 10-04-2005 02:11 PM

How does Inferno handle Podcasts (enclosure tags) and also images?

popowich 10-04-2005 02:26 PM

Great, thank worked, thanks!

Hopefully there is a history and it won't post another 80 threads in 15mins.

BTW, my time for all those threads is stuck at updated 1 minute ago.

Is that becuase there were too many for my forums to process correctly / fast enough?

I think that's a cron job, so you may have to wait till it runs.

About the history, yes, it's working correctly.

jluerken 10-04-2005 03:14 PM

I don't want to change the flood option to make this working.
The flood option is a good way to prevent spam bots or stupid users from spamming the board.

Zero Tolerance, couldn't you update this hack?
I think its really useful but with the actual bugs I removed it. :-(

Has anyone compared this against Article Bot? Have a preference for one over the other?

Vizionz 10-04-2005 04:55 PM

Make the user who posts the messages into the forum a moderator of the forum. Like for my site, I created a special user who posts these threads, and made that user a moderator for the forum that the RSS feeds go into, and they don't have flood prevention.

Example: I have a movie review feed forum that gets its feeds from Roger Ebert's website. I created a user named Roger Ebert and made him moderator of the Movie Review Forum. He can override any flood prevention, thus making the RSS feeds work. Thanks for finding this!

Between this and this it works. Good job!

You are the man!!! Works like a champ now, made my user a moderator and no problems! Thanks for the info.

Any time table on this being upgraded to vB 3.5.0 Gold?

Works OK for me.

Did you try it / are you getting any errors?

-Raymond

imported_-Sidekick- 10-04-2005 11:32 PM

I installed it and added a Top Stories Feed from CNN.com. It was posting the same story 4 or 5 times in a row. I was also getting the following error when manually trying to update a feed:

Fatal error: Unable to proceed with save while $errors array is not empty in class vb_datamanager_thread_firstpost in /includes/class_dm.php on line 758

I got the understanding from someone else's reply that I wasn't the only one having problems on 3.5.0 Gold. ???

popowich 10-04-2005 11:36 PM

That's the same problem I had yesterday, check out this page and the page before for clues ;) Disable your post flood checking (make the value 0, default seems to be 30) and someone else recommended making your RSS member a moderator for the forum is posts to, but I have not tried that msyelf. Good luck!

-Raymond

imported_-Sidekick- 10-04-2005 11:43 PM

If that's the case I'd rather wait for a update. I'd rather not jeopardise potential more spam on my board by disabling flood protection, for the sake of having a feed.

The fact that you can't use HTML in the Thread Post RSS Construct area also keeps me away. Most Feeds I run into post a description of the story with a link to the full story. The links won't dynamically convert to links and stay as just text because vB picks it up as a possible malicious link.

I'd rather decompress the Link to a Click Here phrase anyway to clean up things a bit. Though HTML is not allowed and ruins the feed settings.

I believe that's what the make your RSS member a moderator is for,
so that you do not have to disable the flood protection.

Works forme, surround the suggested XML code with | url= | | /uril |
(the line sare open and close square brackets)

Perhaps if you'd read the thread before posting. I posted a link earlier to a plugin that gives you the ability to allow specific Usergroups to post HTML in any forum, without having to enable HTML in that forum.

I did read the thread. Though like everyone else that runs into a 15+ Page thread, you tend to skim through it rather quickly. Forgive me for being human. If the best you can do is be a smart ass, then please keep your replies to yourself. Your help is not needed, nor wanted.

Blah. I never tried BBCode. Stupid me. Thank you for your help Ray.

TundraSoul 10-05-2005 02:59 AM

I agree, good job! I'm also looking for a way to specify the icon with the feed. This makes feeds easier to identify from regular posts. The users also appreciate it.

Thanks

What about specifying the thread icon for each feed?

jribz 10-05-2005 06:50 AM

I upgraded to 3.5 Gold a few hours ago and have still had no issues with the product.

I'm still annoyed at:

Fatal error: Unable to proceed with save while $errors array is not empty in class vb_datamanager_thread_firstpost in /includes/class_dm.php on line 758

Red Fox UK 10-05-2005 09:20 AM

Why is the version of this mod v1.6, but installed from the download is v1.5?

Did I miss a file?

Perhaps ZT would link to that plugin in the first post of this thread...given that this brilliant hack was the sole inspiration for my coding it. :)

ZT I think you have to update the .zip file here.

product-inferno_rss.xml is still showing version 1.5

bloodwrath 10-05-2005 01:48 PM

mine is also showing 1.5?

curriertech 10-05-2005 02:02 PM

The file date of the .xml file is 8/18, he may have forgotten to upload the new zip. :o

SkyShadow 10-05-2005 02:45 PM

Same here:

possible bug found:

The plugin does not update itself.
When I start the cron I get the following message:

Code:

Warning: main(): Unable to access /home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/./includes/cron/ffrss.php in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

Warning: main(/home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/./includes/cron/ffrss.php): failed to open stream: Success in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

Warning: main(): Failed opening '/home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/./includes/cron/ffrss.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

Chmod is 777

Looking forward to hearing from you soon

ManagerJosh 10-05-2005 02:55 PM

Check what you added into your cron; you entered the pathto incorrectly.

'/home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/./includes/cron/ffrss.php'

dieselpowered 10-05-2005 03:40 PM

So are we awaiting the uploading of the correct .zip?

SkyShadow 10-05-2005 04:20 PM

I've checked the url. There was a "." too much

Now I get:

Code:

Warning: main(): Unable to access /home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/includes/cron/ffrss.php in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

Warning: main(/home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/includes/cron/ffrss.php): failed to open stream: Success in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

Warning: main(): Failed opening '/home/www/web1/html/politikpla.net/forum/includes/cron/ffrss.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /admincp/cronadmin.php on line 64

dieselpowered 10-05-2005 04:41 PM

I appears the new files have not been uploaded yet.

Come on dude, we told you how to fix that problem.

Either:

1. Disable flood protection in the VBOptions
or
2. Make the user who posts your feeds a moderator of the forum he's posting to.
