If you have markup code on the group, it's going to show whether you have 0 or not unless you change the code. Remove the markup if you don't want it to show.

Nice mod however there is a feature I would love to see added to this.

Some forums thems are pretty spiced up and so this MOD although great for indicating a members group classification the username color code can get in the way of color scheme under some circumstances.

For example on the WOL section its very practical and can help identify users and even conditions but... say you have a who has visited today MOD underneath the WOL then I found the color map to become somewhat of an overkill.

Don't get me wrong, I love the hack! I just wish there was a way to control weither or not the username color attributes were controlable under the forum display markup. This way we could target which areas would display color coded usernames and not.

Any possibilities this could be added?
Perhaps alaternate tags to either display default or color coded output?

Great hack btw!

amykhar 05-02-2006 11:44 AM

No, it can't be added to this mod. What you do, is use replacement variables in your markup. That way, your colors are different depending on the style. This mod just reads whatever markup you used; so using replacements will work with this as well.

Or use the Extra CCS options for each skin like I did. ;)

amykhar 05-02-2006 12:53 PM

Either works :D

Boofo 05-02-2006 03:44 PM

Yes, but I'm finding out that CSS is a lot more fun and flexible. I have been able to do some things in the last few days I couldn't figure out for over a year now, and it's great! ;)

xlegends 06-02-2006 06:29 AM

anyway to restrict certain usergoups from appearing on it. I have tons of usergroups.

amykhar 06-02-2006 10:01 AM

xlegends, don't color code them if you don't want them to show on the list.

putergirl 06-03-2006 09:44 PM

I just installed this and nothing happened. Do I need to edit the file some more? When I look in the plugin manager it shows up but not in manage products. Have I not installed it correctly?

amykhar 06-04-2006 12:39 AM

From looking at your forums, you don't seem to have colored usergroups. Hence, no legend showing up because there are no colors to identify. This modification is used to let your users know what the colors mean. No colors or font changes - no legend.

putergirl 06-04-2006 03:52 AM

So I need colored user groups.. Ok, off to go look for colored usergroups... thank you!

Londonladadz 06-21-2006 03:02 PM

amykhar 06-21-2006 03:55 PM

First off, very nice plugin.

Can you expand on what you mean by this?

I have my forum setup as follows.

Everyone is in the registered groups by default.

Registered Users have no specified html markup and get the default color of blue.

For members that donated, they are in a group called Sponsors.

Sponsors get brown markup color.

With each user, if the Display Usergroup is set to default, They always get colored the Registered Users color, even though they are in a secondary group with a different coloring.

Is your statement above meaning that if there is no markup for the primary group, if there is in the secondary, they should have that color shown for them? Or your plugin taking whatever markup the Display Usergroup is set to?

I hope this post made sense.

amykhar 07-11-2006 05:47 PM

Whatever the display group is set to.

Canis Firebrand 07-11-2006 05:50 PM

Thats what I thought, but wasn't sure.

Was hoping that it would pick up the markup for the secondary group if the primary had no specified markup.

I'll just have to go in and set everyones display for the secondary group then.

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

This does not work in Firefox, is their a fix?

What do you mean it doesn't work in firefox?

I use firefox to view my forum, and I see this modification working as expected. Did you create the html markup in each usergroup in the usergroup manager?

If you don't you won't see any legend or colors.

This was one of the simplier modifications I've made. Though on its own, it doesn't do anything. It needs the html markup for each user group to work properly.

Maybe post a link to your forum, someone might see something if there is a problem.

forzablues 07-13-2006 05:59 PM

hey i need to hide some of my usergroups because my legend is slightly over crouded

VBUsers 07-16-2006 08:20 PM

i installed this on 3.6 beta 4 and i get double usergroups showing when i add the code in forumhome

PHP Code:

<tr><td class="thead" colspan="2">Legend</td></tr>
<
tr><td class="alt1" colspan="2" ><span class="smallfont">$legend</span></td></tr

YarisTuners.com 07-17-2006 03:34 AM

Without spending forever reading over the pages and pages in this thread, is there any way to NOT display a specific group? I have installed the "Miserable Users" hack and am looking to use it as a secondary group so it remains anonymous..'

Thanks!
Travis

amykhar 07-17-2006 02:27 PM

Don't give it any display markup code.

paul41598 07-17-2006 04:19 PM

So if a user is apart of registered users, as their primary, and they have a secondary group assigned to them too, then their markup will be the primary groups color right? Even if the secondary has markup...
