where do i go to put code/stuff in the column?

is there a place that would tell me how to put it down the right column? i saw you say just edit the html, but i wouldn't know what to edit exactly

and is there also a chance that I could make the column only viewable on the index.php page and not ALL the forum pages?

I wish Amy could come up with a product update for this. A Forumhome option only would be nice, as well as compatibility with both Firefox & IE with placement options. There are some good code updates by users in this thread which do work, but in the end I still can't get Firefox to display correctly. I think this product has some potential left.

I've got this installed and working but how do I change the code so that it's only displayed on the forum home page and also so that it is beneath my navbar rather than beside it? Thanks in advance :)

Just make sure you remove your previous left side column code changes before applying the new one (obviously) ;)

I accomplished it by editing the forum home and threadview templates only and no others.

There is one problem with this hack. It seems you can not call another template or phase that is in the hack.

How can I get it so when I call another template through $templatename or a phrase, to get it to show up?

the footer and header are correct . .but the templeate right_column doesn't seem to be picked up.

is the plugin showing as active? It appears to be adjusting the templates correctly, but just not calling the template for the column, which is why I think it is probably the plugin has been deactivated or unintentionally uninstalled. Try reinstalling the plugin ensuring you set it to 'allow overwrite' = yes. Make sure you use the right plugin too as they are different for the two columns.

Do you mean product as opposed to plugin?

Yes, I reinstalled the right plugin with "overwrite" checked, but nothing.
Other templates get pulled in correctly..

I'll try to recreate the template with a new name.

Sorry, yes the product for overwriting, but installing the product will have produced a couple of plugins in the plugin manager.

Creating a replacement template won't work without going through the plugins and changing all the references to the new template name.

K I think I found 1 prob. the instructions says to add the code in the header at the end of the template but I move the '$spacer_open' above the column code and it added the spaces. There is still one more problem, on the right side of the actual forum there is an extra block running down.

you will need to reduce the width of the column in the header and footer template edits. This only happens when the site is using a fixed width style.

I don't see how this mod can cause that, as that is in the forumhome template which this mod doesn't touch.

I did a search of the thread, but the only real answer anyone gave was to copy the code from the forumhome template, which didn't work. (None of the actual information showed up).

I want to keep that data I will diplay for the left column in a separate file. That way I can use the same code in other pages on the site and make fewer updates.

I can't get it to display. Here is what I am trying.

I created a plug-in for global_start with this $includedhtml = implode('', file('
D:\inetpub\bloodbanktalk\calls\test.html'));.
Then in my left_clumn template I added $includedhtml where I want it to display. Nothing happens.

Any advice on where I went wrong?

Amy ive got the column on my site with google ads and everything but I saw in your screenshot you're using your vbadvanced modules.. how do you do that? Id love to use that column for my Photopost and latest threads.

I did a bunch of custom coding that didn't use plugins. I'm no longer using it because some of my members hate sidebars.

Well photopost you're supposed to add $photopostfeature or something cant remember now but I have it somewhere and all it needs done is to be added the template. I tried it with the sidebar but it didnt show up. And do you perhaps still have the code or maybe some sort of method to put latest / hot threads there?

It has to be in scope. If it is not declared early in the process, it won't work. The column templates have to be set up before the header template is called. The hook that gets that done is really too early in the file. There needs to be one closer to the display of the header and after some stuff has been calculated in global.php.
