Check your email phrases, you might be using an old one.

ah, excellent, thank you! We were using a customised 'pmreceived' template.

Snake 11-02-2005 06:28 AM

Wow truly a great hack! Thanks. :)

PsiNyde 11-02-2005 09:23 PM

*installs*

great job. i likes it.

*edit*
btw, i just upped to 3.5.1 and then ran this. zero problemas.

biggjoe 11-03-2005 06:21 AM

Great Hack! Just installed it on vB 3.5.0 (w/ security patch) and works awesome!

It's so cool how you can edit the 'welcomepm' Varname from within the vB options, instead of having to go screwing around in the Phrase Manager.

Thanks a million!

Joe

Works excellent.

/me installs. :squareeyed:

funinthesun 11-09-2005 10:34 PM

Great mod, thanks :)

RetroDreams 11-11-2005 03:33 PM

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you enter line breaks in the message? I tried <br /> but that doesn't translate.

Much appreciated.

kadafi_alive 11-11-2005 06:18 PM

Hi,

I installed the welcomepm a few weeks ago and it used to work perfectly 'till the last couple of days. When a new user signs up, it doesn't send anything. I have removed the hack and reinstalled, yet the same results.

Regards

Andreas 11-11-2005 06:47 PM

Simply hit return

@kadafi_alive
I got no idea. Most likely you are doing smth. wrong.

PokerKnowledge 11-11-2005 07:10 PM

Hi,
I have no knowledge of doing these things but I have uploaded the file to /includes what do I do next?

Thanks

biggjoe 11-11-2005 07:18 PM

Btw, I can confirm that this mod/hack works great after upgrading to vB 3.5.1!

Thanks again for the excellent hack!

J.

Andreas 11-11-2005 07:56 PM

@PowerKnowledge
I suggest to just exactly follow the installation instructions.

cheech4487 11-11-2005 08:00 PM

Installed and appears to be workin okay.

The german language pack is broken/doesn't install :(

yes, I imported the xml as a PRODUCT.

everything else seems to be working :)

Well, that's the problem then :)
It's just that: A language pack, not a complete product.

Doesn't work. It jumbles it up.

funinthesun 11-12-2005 07:45 PM

Can someone explain what the language pack does please? Btw, I've installed this and it works great. Thanks :D

Andreas 11-12-2005 11:50 PM

My wild guess: It makes the Hack into German.

hydrostatic 11-15-2005 05:18 AM

PMs aren't being sent after upgrading to 3.5.1. Any ideas?

JoergZ 11-15-2005 10:40 PM

Hi Andreas !

One thing concerning your nice hack: I have activated the e-mail verification for new users. When a user register, and confirm his registration via the link in the mail, he gets the welcome PM. Everything fine.

But.. If a registred user changes his e-mail adress, the same process is started. He gets an email, and must confirm his new mail-address. He is doing this and: Yes, he gets again the welcome PM, though it is an "old" member, that only changed his mail-address.

Is there maybe a way, you can recognize, if it is an acacount-activation from a new registration or from an e-mail change ?

It would be nice, if the PM is only send to really new users.

Best regards

Jörg

Andreas 11-15-2005 11:05 PM

This should not happen - except if he hasn't made any posts.

JoergZ 11-15-2005 11:22 PM

Yes, sorry, you are right.

The board is not active yet, and I tested it only with my testuser, who had no postings.

Jörg

Andreas 11-15-2005 11:37 PM

Well, if the user has no postings there is not much criteria that could be used to determine if it is th first activation or one due to an eMail change.
Besides that, vBulletin itself uses the same criteria to decide if a welcome eMail should be sent or not.

ShadowOne 11-19-2005 01:22 PM

slvr ralliart 12-07-2005 11:19 PM

I know in pharses but would someone tell me how and where do I change the welcome pm to my own msg?

Thanks

zendiver 12-07-2005 11:55 PM

It,s in your AdminCP >> vBulletin Options >> User Registration Options

All the way down to the bottom you will see the following:
Quote:

Automatic Welcome PM UserID

Enter the User ID of the User you would like to appear as sender of the Welcome PM.
To edit the PM Content, click here, to edit the Subject click here.
In the two click here, you are able to edit the PM Content and the Subject.

Hope this helps.
