I've got a problem... i've tried to figure this out for hours now :(

I've installed a fresh version of the Jukebox and finally figured out how to work with it - but the songs do not play... i know they're in the right place and everything is set up - but they're just NOT playing????

also i've never installed the older version but in the footer it says version 1.2 ...

am i missing something here?

el diablo 02-01-2005 10:00 PM

also i've tried to uninstall and reinstall and now i get this:

Quote:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.6:

Invalid SQL: ALTER TABLE language ADD `phrasegroup_jukebox` MEDIUMTEXT NOT NULL
mysql error: Duplicate column name 'phrasegroup_jukebox'

mysql error number: 1060
how can i drop that info so i can reinstall?

also:

hmmm... I forgot I was upgrading, and goofed. I uploaded all the files, didn't delete folder #1, and did steps 1 - 4, by the time I realized it, hmmm... its too late.

How can I undo this stupidity? lol

el diablo 02-02-2005 04:15 AM

i just need to know how to undo this DB situation :(

umm, i dont think you have a db situation .... the quiries are run last so you should be safe, does everything work ok?

el diablo 02-02-2005 06:53 AM

no it wouldn't play the songs at all... i checked over everything a million times... i read all of the posts in here and everything. I'm not sure what the problem is... i uninstalled and reinstalled...

but when i try to reinstall it gives me the DB error saying "duplicate field" or whatever - which is expected... i just can't remember how to drop those specific fields...

anyways, yeah everything is there - it shows up... and the songs as well - but nobody can hear the songs =\

trafix 02-02-2005 07:00 AM

can you pm or post a link to you instilation

el diablo 02-02-2005 07:22 AM

Yep, but the thing is, everything seems to be working fine, however, no music is coming up on the jukebox page. And its not playing @ all.

same thing i got.. ^^^

spence2 02-04-2005 07:09 AM

NOTE: Issue resolved in post #280 of this thread. :)

I'm getting this error in user upload:

Warning: copy(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/tmp/phpVgCnlX) is not within the allowed path(s): (/usr/home/xxx/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /vb_jukebox.php on line 144

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: print_stop_message() in /usr/home/xxx/public_html/forum/vb_jukebox.php on line 148

I have created a folder for uploads, entered in name the Jukebox Admin & chmod'ed folder permissions to 777

My vB configuration is running in Safe Upload mode
with this path to my temp uploads file:
/usr/home/xxx/public_html/forum/tmp

BTW, manual entry works fine.

Any ideas how to fix so that my users can upload successfully?

Thanks for your support.

trafix 02-04-2005 09:02 PM

Ok have you created your music folder and made sure the options reflect the folders name ... i tried to upload a song and got an error.

I fixed the navigation so the phrases show (just edit one of the phrases and save without changing any of the text :))

Also have you uploaded the v2.1 php files?

trafix 02-04-2005 09:43 PM

I have updated the vb_jukebox.php file to stop the media player opening as a tall narrow strip

Thank you for your reply.

Are you re-confirming my problem?

OR are you stating that there is no way around this problem to allow user uploads?

trafix 02-05-2005 10:28 AM

hmmm, im trying to assertain more information ;)

Have you tried just putting "tmp" in the media folder field in the admin options?

As the script will use this in the relative path

spence2 02-05-2005 10:34 AM

Yes, I tried "tmp" and "/tmp" and "./tmp".
No go, I'm afraid.

trafix 02-05-2005 10:40 AM

have you done a test out of safe mode?

Okay, now here is where we hit a brick wall because of my ignorance!

I installed Jukebox and noticed that I was getting the restriction error. Because my board is not yet ready for prime time, I had never tried to upload an avatar either. I tried to do so and discovered I received the restriction error there as well.

So, I inquired at vB.com and was told I needed to set Safe Mode in vB and set the path to my "tmp" directory as stated above.

When I did so, I found I could upload avatars, but still not a file via the Jukebox.

So, originally, when I discovered the restriction in Jukebox I was not running in Safe Mode ... and now that I am, I still receive the error. If there is something that you would like for me to ammend now in order to check my installation, you will have to tell me "Hey, do this..." with instructions on precisely how to do it ...

Obviously, I only "know enough to be dangerous". :ermm:

trafix 02-05-2005 07:30 PM

OK im confused ...... the jukebox uses the same uploader as the avatars etc.

To comfirm: ... your whole instilation is working except you cant upload songs from the user end.

Talking out loud:... Why does it restrict browser uploading in the user end but not in the admincp?

spence2 02-06-2005 01:08 AM

Yes. My install works fine if I do manual entries. Only the user upload results in the restriction error.

I double-checked my user permissions and they are set to allow uploads.

On a whim of desperation, I even tried entering the name of my avatar upload folder "customavatars" but still got the restriction error.

I dunno, Trafix. I thank you for your support. I'd hate to uninstall because it's a great hack, but I'm stumped!

trafix 02-06-2005 01:16 AM

before we do anything rash ;)

can you PM a test login and link to your forum

PM sent. Thanks, again.

trafix 02-06-2005 02:58 AM

ok im grasping at straws ... "tmp" is used in server configuration ...... try creating a new folder with a different name and see if that makes a difference

trafix 02-06-2005 03:11 AM

hmmm, maybe it has something to do with the server settings cos i get the same error

maybe shoot off an email to your host tech

Created new folder. Chmod'ed to 777. Changed folder name in JB admin.

Tried upload, but still same restriction error.

Will do. Thanks again for your help.

trafix 02-06-2005 09:49 AM

is anybody else getting upload errors?

Zaeolos 02-06-2005 04:07 PM

Can you explain the changes from v2.1 to v2.2 or how to quickly upgrade without reinstalling the entire hack?

trafix 02-06-2005 07:07 PM

the only change is some coding in the vb_jukebox.php file. only about 6 lines that stop the media player opening as a tall narrow strip :)

yahoooh 02-07-2005 06:18 AM

i have suggestion for your hack
i look for visual/audio station to my site which like this idea:
upload all media to specific folder
then make live show by your site ,just people go to jukeshow.php then this script will begin with the media but it is be timed by your server
in admen panel , admin put times to begis the show and make the file play file number 1 and then file number 2 and then file number 3 so on
after it finish it will repeat or just stop

it is like tv or radio staion on the net by your site and it be good to make it daily or weekly or monthly changed

i hope this idea be done

Trafix, this was the response from my most excellent hosting company (alphaomegahosting.com):
Quote:

I am going to add /var/tmp to your open_basedir directive to see if that takes care of the problem, though I'm still perplexed and wondering "why?" just like you are. Again, I don't understand what's broken. Like you posted at the forum, you can upload avatars, which the developer said used the same engine (or something like that... it's been a while since I read it) and even he seems to be confused about what is going on here.

Anyway, lets see what happens with this addition.
That fixed it!!! No more restriction errors. :)
Thanks again for your superb support of this hack and I hope this info will be a help to anyone else who might run into the same problem.
