Catch-22|BL 02-16-2004 02:16 AM

Here, let me give it a shot. BRB

Catch-22|BL 02-16-2004 02:48 AM

I am back. Seems to be working pretty good.

http://www.gamesorceress.com/index.php?

Shoutbox is at the bottom. Here is a direct link:

http://www.gamesorceress.com/shoutbox.php?

Only small glitch was that the FORUMHOME template had to be done manually with HTL.

So it works in RC4.

Dark Jim 02-16-2004 07:36 PM

Installed it using HTL since the manual one didn't work properly (queries). Works fine except the WYSIWYG editor. When I put a message it will say "You cannot make a blank shout!" even when it has text. Normal editor works fine. Other than this great hack! :)

I tryed re hacking init.php user.php usergroup.php and so on with no luck.

Was it a manual install? Did you edit a usergroup in the admincp to update the cache? If you did, it might be a problem in the queries (I wouldn't be suprised) and I'll look into it. I do know that the HTL install is fully functional now, but I can't be sure if the manual install is as I haven't tested it fully.

Gah, I know I fixed the WYSIWYG editor back in Beta 5... bah.

MikeRoweForums 02-17-2004 11:10 PM

I installed using HTL.

My other question still stands - did you try editing a usergroup and saving without modifying? If not, try it and see if it works then.

Hi Link mate, just checking your hack out before I move to vB3. I was just wondering if there is any way to import my old shouts from TWT's vB2 shoutbox hack. Keep up the good work!

There should be a file in the zip to convert, twtcommishvb2shoutbox_conversion.php (heh, long name ;)). After installing, you should upload it to the admincp directory and run it.

FleaBag 02-19-2004 01:59 AM

Kaching! If you got a dollar for every satisfied user, you'd now be one dollar richer. When I convert to vB3 [in about an hour] I'll get this installed.

And thanks for the very fast response!

Hi,

I am running v1.2 of the shoutbox on rc4.
I have just moved servers but since the move, i can no longer see new shouts in the iframe on forums home.

I had to restore the database and didnt get no issues - if i try and shout from the homepage it goes through the motions fine - no errors - just the shouts dont appear.
If you go to the shout history page - they are in there - random as hell !!

Any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!
Alz

That's a very very odd problem that I have never seen before until recently on a site that I admin. The problem I am having is only old shouts are appearing on forumhome, but they all show up in shoutbox.php (they aren't random in my case). I'm not sure exactly is going wrong, but needless to say I am looking into it.

Sorry - that is the exact problem I am having - the "random part I mentioned is just a way of saying "it's strange" - not randomly they will appear ect..

When I rebuilt the database - there were no issues and as I said - it actually works, things being written to the database and also appear in shout.php - just they dont appear in forumhome.

Thanks for looking into this - much appreaciate - my members love this hack !!

Ah, I see. I seriously don't know what the hell is going on - it uses almost the same exact query for both parts. I'll see if I can release an update today.

Fantastic !!
Thanks very much for your help.

Me and the members look forward to a fix :)

Link14716 02-22-2004 01:27 PM

I found out what the problem is. Instead of it storing the 'deleted' column as 0, it started making it NULL. I'll release a fix in a little while.

Link14716 02-22-2004 01:56 PM

1.03 Released!
Quote:

A bug has been discovered in 1.02 and below that may prevent new shouts from being displayed. It is recommended that you upgrade to 1.03 immediately. Thanks.
:)

alzibub 02-22-2004 03:22 PM

Well done !!! :)

Massive thanks - just tested out 1.03 and it fixed it !!!
Oustanding support - amazing :)

All working fine now - my thanks to you !!

Link14716 02-22-2004 06:18 PM

I'm glad it's working for you. :)

FleaBag 02-22-2004 06:20 PM

Hey Link, I got this installed and imported my shouts from TWT's v2 hack - but when I go to 'do update' to associate the shouts with the users it just stops about 30 users in. I'm using the latest version, any reason why this might be happening?

Link14716 02-22-2004 06:21 PM

I'll look into splitting it up into pages - hold on.

EDIT: It already is split into pages - the redirect probably isn't working. Let me see if I can fix it real quick.

FleaBag 02-22-2004 06:22 PM

Holding. Thanks mate. I noticed there's a small error in the conversion script too, it attempts to access shoutbox_install.php?step=22 rather than twtcommishvb2shoutbox_conversion.php?step=22, so you get a 404 if you don't understand why it's going wrong. ;)

Ok, upload the 1.03b shoutbox.php and go back to updating the counters.

And the converters - fixed. :nervous:

FleaBag 02-22-2004 07:30 PM

Wicked, thank you kind sir.

FleaBag 02-22-2004 07:42 PM

The update doesn't seem to be working mate. It just tries to open the page, it's been like that for about 5 minutes now. Strange as it doesn't time out, yet nothing is loaded.

Edit: I just got a cannot find server message after waiting for it to complete whatever it may have been doing.

Link14716 02-22-2004 08:22 PM

How many users do you have?

FleaBag 02-22-2004 08:34 PM

1200.

SmokeyApox 02-22-2004 08:47 PM

I'm having a problem myself after I've ran the installer and everything for it the shoutbox won't show up on my forum.

-Anyone know how to fix this?

FleaBag 02-22-2004 08:48 PM

Does shoutbox.php work?

Try adding &info=1 at the end of the URL and manually clicking through the pages - I'll look into a meta refresh when I have time.

Did you edit all the files and templates (specifically index.php and FORUMHOME)?

i thought thats what the htl did I guess i'll do that now.

FleaBag 02-22-2004 11:02 PM

No there's a step in the HTL that tells you to do it yourself.

The first page worked Link, but it wouldn't progress to page two. Thanks for trying anyway mate, it is appreciated.

SmokeyApox 02-23-2004 01:41 AM

htl wont let me uninstall it so can you send me a file with what was supposed to be on it? Or just tell me what i was supposed to find and change?

Frozen Dreams 02-23-2004 03:57 AM

Just upgraded and now I am getting 2 things when I try going to shoutbox.php

Division by zero from functions.php

and a cute lil sql error

Invalid SQL:

SELECT s.*, u.username AS absusername
FROM shoutbox_posts s
LEFT JOIN user u ON s.userid=u.userid

ORDER BY time DESC LIMIT 0,

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '' at line 7

mysql error number: 1064

Mind giving me a hand? Ran each upgrader step by step and did the index.php edit for the last bit (upgrade to 1.03) - no clue what's causing this :(
On RC4 btw

FleaBag 02-23-2004 04:05 AM

Same SQL error here, just noticed.

Link14716 02-23-2004 04:19 AM

'B' must be my unlucky letter - this is the second time I've taken a release into letters and the second time I've had to go to 'C' because 'B' ++++ed something up.

Zip updated.... *sigh*.

FleaBag 02-23-2004 04:39 AM

Works now mate.
