No that don't matter, what about the question above?
|
Yes, after email.
|
That's really weird, as no one else has come across that issue. If it happens again, let me know and I can try and debug it on your site.
|
OK.. Actually I'll create test user and see what happens.
|
OK let me know. :)
|
Created a test user and didn't get the error and it past the welcome thread. Maybe it was just a hiccup.
|
It's possible, there could have been some cron that was running, and was taking up resources. Glad to hear it seems OK now. :)
|
I appreciate your quick response. Very good support. Thank you.
|
Not a problem, glad to help, and thanks for marking as installed. :)
|
Well heck...just got another one. Can't deal with it tonight....was up all night last night and need to get some sleep. I'm going to just disable it until I have time to deal with it.
|
That is really strange, are these users actually verifying their email?
|
Just enabled this again. Will see what it does. I've had one registration since enabling it and did not get the error.
One thing that it didn't do though. The message did not link the new users name to his profile. |
OK...I see where it has to be setup in the control panel. I don't fully understand it though. It says:
HTML Code:
$username = The username of the member who joined. |
Just as it says, [url="$url/member.php?u=$userid2"]$username[/url ] when it is actually posted would be the nname of the user that joined, and clicking on that name would lead you to their profile.
It does auto pull the url of your site. |
Well, still getting the error. I have no idea how to fix it so I guess I'll just disable it. Sorry.
|
If you want me to try and debug it on your site, you could PM me admin account.
|
Can anybody tell me how to add the new users location to the title bar.
At this time, I have it configured to say something like Please welcome our newest user, John Doe. I would like it to add their location, Please welcome our newest user, John Doe from Texas. or wherever. |
That is not available at this time. I think it would require modifying of the code, to grab the specific profile field and use it in the title.
|
I guess I'll have to give up on this one. I have been unable to figure out what is causing this problem but it hasn't gone away I had a welcome thread mod on my 3.8.7 forum and never had an issue. I've disabled other plugins, changed it to post thread before email activation, turned off TapaTalk in app registration. I don't know what to do. Would love for this to work but it just isn't for me.
Code:
MIME-Version: 1.0 |
Yeah I don't know why it is not getting the user id, with over 100 installs of this, no one else has reported the issue.
|
5 stars. With a little tweaking this did exactly what I wanted it to do. ^^
|
Excellent glad to hear, and thanks for marking as installed. :)
What was it you tweaked? |
Well, I basically edited it so that instead of a welcome thread, it posted information from the registration page. Our site used to have a 2 step system: register, then fill out an application form. We were able to combine the two so that the application was part of the registration page, and your mod would automatically post the application for them. It's saving a lot of hassle and increasing the number of people we can retain. ^^
|
Awesome, sounds good, thanks for posting back. :)

I am just getting finished on the the upgrade of my site from VBulletin 3.8 to 4.2.3. I posted today asking my members what the new version is missing that we had before. The number one response was that the Welcome Thread no longer says where the new member is from. My old welcome thread was a version of the old one here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...=91887&page=29
No over the next few days, as soon as I get time, I will be working on integrating the location of the user into this one. Otherwise, this is a great mod. |
Just installed and on my first user registered with it in place I got this:
Database error in vBulletin 4.2.2: Invalid SQL: UPDATE user SET ozzmodz_welcome_thread_welcomed = 1 WHERE userid =; MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 Error Number : 1064 Request Date : Saturday, November 29th 2014 @ 05:10:54 AM Error Date : Saturday, November 29th 2014 @ 05:10:55 AM Script : http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/f...9c47c1a20340fc Referrer : IP Address : 76.67.66.124 Username : Gadget_Guy Classname : vB_Database_MySQLi MySQL Version : 5.5.40-cll Thoughts? D. |
Hmmm, there was another user that was getting this, and I was not able to figure out what the issue was, as it is random, and no way to reproduce it reliably.
I notice in the error, that is says your username, what was it you were doing when you got that error? |
I hate to mention it again but I'm STILL getting this error. Got it twice last night. I'm totally baffled since I have uninstalled the mod because of it.
|
Like I said before, that makes absolutely no sense what so ever, as that is run via a plugin, and by uninstalling the mod, there is no plugin to run that.
It is certainly a strange one. |
Ozzy !!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! LOL ..
So I too go the following error which from the time stamp suggests that this was triggered when the member clicked on the link to activate his/her account from the email sent to them ... I just upgraded to the latest version of this Mod because someone updated their email last night and I forgot you had fixed that bug in the latest version .... I also triggered this error by clicking on the link under the "Script" line and it sent me another identical error but this time with my username and IP of course since I was already logged into the site ... Hope this helps you nail this down ...I might have to downgrade to the prior version so can you please take a look to see what is causing this ? I did have 15 other new accounts registered and this one was the only one to trigger this error .... |
Can you PM me the full unedited DB error, so I can see it in full? I just don't understand why I have never got this error on my site yet.
|
So...you are saying that your site is better than ours? :)
|
No not at all, I just wish I knew what was causing it, so I can fix it. I hate having anyone get any errors using my mods. :)

Hey...it was a joke...I know you didn't mean it that way. Do I need a bigger smilie? :)
|
I figured it was a joke, as there was a smiley there. ;)

Hello.
Yesterday I installed this mod, I want that, automatic reply only in one forum (the forum or presentations), and only want reply like post to a news threads opens for the users. I configure like this: Post As A New Thread? No Posters ID (My userid) Forum To Post To (I select the forum) Post ID (I select ID1 because I want the reply are just after of first post in the new thread) Welcome Thread Open? No Sticky Thread? No And not works. I create news threads in this forum, but this mod not "auto reply". I configure some bad? In other question, I view that in admincp -Welcome Thread/Post - Tittles and Messages Settings, have a 10 threads/posts, use all random? Thanks and regads. |
I have mine set up to post as a new thread in a forum...but for what you want you might want to try it like this :
Thread ID: the id to the thread Post ID: (leave blank) this will only post as a reply to a post and not as a new welcome to a thread which is what I assume you want....they are both very similar but you want to post as a new welcome post in a thread as they are coming in ... |
Thanks CAG
But I don't understand very well... I can't type Thread ID because I want that, auto reply at the new create threads for the users with her welcome, then, I want this mod autoreply at this new thread like reply/post. I typpe Post ID 1, because I want the autoreply, post after at first post of new user. Yes, I want this, auto post as news welcome post/reply in a threads that they are open with her welcome. Sorry if I don't explained very well. |
