The cause of the issue that you didn't copy the files from upload/admincp/vbsso.php to your custom admincp folder.

xabo 07-21-2012 03:46 AM

Hi

Tried this addon abit, but now it wont work anymore.

When i try to add my settings, i just get this error up

Code:

Unable to verify platform [http://www.gamecon.no/wp-content/plugins/vbsso/vbsso.php] Please analyze log files located at `/home/xabo/domains/gamecon.no/public_html/forum/vbsso/logs/` to detect the cause of the issue.
When i go check for logfiles, the folder is empty....

Any suggestions?

Please verify you follow the proper instructions available at http://vbsso.com/platforms/wordpress/ to connect two platforms. In case of the issue, you are welcome to leave me PM message to help me get more details and identify the cause.

trebor 07-24-2012 12:25 AM

Hi, I followed your instructions for Wordpress but I still can't seem to get it to work. How can I get it so that people on my Wordpress site are actually logging in using my Vbulletin forum? I don't want them to have to create accounts on WordPress and Vbulletin separately.

trebor 07-24-2012 02:06 AM

So it looks like now it's working, but the problem I still have are two things:

1) Impossible to logout from forums or once you're logged in on the WordPress side. Message I get:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /vbsso/vbsso.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache Server at forums.nyrzone.com Port 80

2) I can't login with my original WordPress accounts before I applied this add-on. Again, because I can't logout from my vbulletin account which is now linked to WordPress.

PLEASE help!

Regarding 404 - guys have already had the similar issue and it strictly depends on and the cause is the apache configuration where mod rewrite blocks urls where url address is passed through GET. Plesae verify your configuration and in case of continual issues drop me a PM message.

Please keep in mind that you are always open to login to WordPress via /wp-login.php script as usual or disable vBSSO WordPress links via custom configuration as described at http://vbsso.com/platforms/wordpress/.

I don't think I have an idea how your web server is configured. I would recommend to contact your hosting facility and let them check it. If you want us to help with this, you are free to drop me a PM message and discuss further steps.

Do you need WordPress in order to use this plugin?
I just want a simple way to grab user data outside of Vbull?

Of course, in case if you want WordPress users to have a single sign-on. At this moment plugin is not designed to do export of the users at once. If moves only the users to WordPress on demand as soon as they are logged in to vBulletin. If you just need to move users it would make more sense to create a migration for your project and would be able to help wit this. We will consider the achievements of your goal if you drop us a PM message in more details.

Thank you,

Hi,

Sorry if the question has already been asked. I couldn't find it by searching.

What I wanted clarified is that if I installed this on two different vBulletin 4 forums that I owned and had installed on different domains people would only have to register on one and they could access the other too right?

Or am I mixing things up her.

But if this is how it works can it be used across vB4 forums that don't belong to me such as those that might want to collaborate with my forum?

Also where are the credentials stored?

Thanks for any help.

The new version of the product is almost ready to come out. It actually supports the connection of multiple forums to a single master's vBulletin.

The original credentials and stored in master's vBulletin instance. The vBulletin instance might be chosen on your own. All the connected platforms have no access to passwords, and the users located on the connected platforms are authenticated through master's vBulletin instance.

I also look forward to the new version. :)

xeagle 08-13-2012 03:55 PM

Updates are just finally came out and could be grabbed from http://vbsso.com/download/ to inspire vBulletin 3.x compatibility and connection of multiple vBulletin forum instances.

hpidriver 08-15-2012 10:04 PM

Followed the posted instructions, tested platforms are VB 3.8 and WP 3.4 Multisite/Network. At first, the single sign on was working no problem. However, after logging in and posting comments with a couple test accounts it does not seem to work any more.
I visit the wordpress site and click log-in. VbSSO then redirects to Vb forum to log-in, and then redirects back to the wordpress site, however the user is never logged in and remains a guest. I also cannot log out of the super admin account. Any thoughts?

edit to add the error from my log-
Code:

Thu Aug 16 03:11:37 2012,527 [32209] ERROR localFileLogger - Communication: Platform returned error.
Thu Aug 16 03:11:37 2012,527 [32209] ERROR localFileLogger - array (
  'product' => 4,
  'version' => '3.4.1',
  'error' =>
  array (
    'code' => 'existing_user_login',
    'message' => 'This username is already registered.',
    'data' => NULL,
  ),
)

Unrelated - I see that all Vbulletin users automatically get created as a Subscriber role in Wordpress, is there any way to customize this so that certain VB usergroups will be created as a different Wordpress user role? For example, a Vbulletin user who is a Moderator signs in using VbSSO, and instead of being stuck as a Subscriber, they are automatically made into an Editor role.

Please note that your existing accounts have the different username connected to the same email address or vice versa. Please verify and correct accounts in WordPress to make sure all your existing accounts in WP have the same email and username as in vBulletin.

Unrelated - unfortunately vBSSO has no that feature so far. If you would like to get it, you are free to request it and pay for the implementation.

I had one test account in VB that didn't have an email associated with the username, oops.

Fixed and working great now, thanks!

The released package originally supports vB 4.x as well as we have added additional support for vB 3.x recently.

These error messages don't actually mean that this mod is a cause of the conflict, etc. Probably that external mod "Advanced Link Posting Option" might conflict and be the one which generates these errors instead of vBSSO (vBSSO shows the errors that happen across all the vB modules). We will look through it anyway and check if we would be able to reproduce the similar issue using that external mod.

Please note that these are not the errors. These are the warnings that might appear in some of your custom modules.

The "Advanced Link Posting Option" is buggy one, if you want to avoid these warnings, please modify "Advanced Link Posting Options (ACP Settings) Hook"

and like a quick solution put

Code:

require_once(DIR . '/includes/hooks/advlinkops/admin_options_processing.php');
instead of
Code:

require_once('./includes/hooks/advlinkops/admin_options_processing.php');

The steps of the connecting two vB 4.x forums are the same as you have one of them as master and connect another one as slave as well as you connect WordPress, etc.

hpidriver 08-22-2012 09:56 PM

[*SOLVED*]This error is caused by an incompatibility with another 3rd party plugin.
Someone else brought this to my attention after installing VbSSO, but new users cannot register and it throws a databases error.
*update* The new user actually is created, however there seem to be missing/broken tables for that user. Upon logging in there are more database errors before the forums can be accessed.

Should there be a value at the end of the SQL line before the 'LIMIT 1?'
Or can SELECT TOP 1 * be used instead of LIMIT all together?
Code:

<!--
Database error in vBulletin 3.8.6:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT * FROM `vbsso_users` WHERE `vbuserid` =  LIMIT 1;

MySQL Error  : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 1' at line 1
Error Number  : 1064

Script        : http://www.mysite.com/forums/register.php?do=addmember
Referrer      : https://www.mysite.com/forums/register.php?do=register

-->

Oh and I'm running SQL version 5.1.63, thanks.

There should be a value definitely. We will investigate the issue and get it solved with releasing the update.

If you wait for a week, the new version of the vBSSO WordPress plugin comes out providing the login widget. So you would be able to put it into any section you want and keep using the single sign-on.

The implementation of the plugin for Drupal 7 is in progress and it is supposed to be released on September. Currently there is only one way to use membership plugin is to use it separately with vBSSO plugin. If you would like to make both working in custom way you are always welcome to request a new feature via the form available at http://vbsso.com/request-new-feature/

Unfortunately we are not able to publish the release date of Joomla plugin, one note that it was planned to be released right after Drupal plugin is released next month. So, we would recommend to keep watching and we are doing all the best to get it released in autumn.
