Edit: Another question (sorry!) if a user doesn't want their name change history displayed, can there be an option in the UCP to not display the tab for just them?

Would be nice to have a way to be able to search through username changes on a large forum. People can simply change their name and never be found unless their userID is known which is a big downer.

It's unlikely we'll be adding any new features to this mod in the foreseeable future, but we'll take them under consideration regardless :)

We've been using the plugin for some time without a hitch, but recently one of our moderators ran into an issue when trying to change a username from the ModCP, when he received the following error message:

The thing is, the new username wasn't being used. What's more, not even an Admin could change it from the ModCP. But, if he logged into the AdminCP and used the default "Edit profile" option, the username change went without a hitch.

Any ideas as to what might cause this error message to pop-up in the first place?

That will happen if the Username Re-use Delay setting is in effect. The AdminCP ignores this setting.

Just to be clear, this is a default vBulletin feature and not something UNC introduced :)

Problem is, our Reuse Delay is set to 0 (which means that it's disabled, according to the vB manual).

Username Change v1.2.0:
Feature: "Revert to previous username" feature added, allowing users to revert to their previous username (assuming it's still available) at any time so long as they have not reached the maximum number of username changes allowed. This feature ignores (but resets) the "time between username changes".
Change: Added standard DBTech copyright / branding footers

Hi DragonByte, there is just a small problem with your copyright notice in v1.2.0. It says:

I am guessing the 'News Discussion Threads by' should not be there or I could be wrong but I would be wondering what that means. Could you tell us how to fix this please if it is not suppose to be there?

Hi, This is a very helpful mod which removes the manual user name change by admin. But I have one concern here. During registration i have a regular expression set thru Admin CP which filters some characters from from user name. I would like to have the same here so that the users dont use those characters again while changing userid. Could anyone help me with the change OR can we get an updated mod ?

There is a bug with the modification i seen, when changing the username back to something it was before you get error.

Not a bug in this mod, this happens if you have Username Re-use Delay turned on in vBulletin Options :)

Just want to say this is a fantastic mod! We've been using it for about a year without a single problem. Plus a previous vb3 version (created by a different author) required manual staff approval for every request. This version saved us hundreds of hours of clicking on an "Approve" button.
