I don't understand the question. And sure, any mod can stop working at any time. Any time you install a mod you need to subscribe to it's thread and keep up with what's happening.

This worked for me. I initially setup a Twitter App and it was read only and could not figure out why it wasn't posting to twitter. I changed it to read & write and it didnt work. I had to create a new Twitter App and start it out with Read & Write and now it works flawlessly. Thanks :)

Same here! I did the same, thanks for posting that lol!

So, i have installed this mod now and uninstalled the other one, but one question, why we have to include forums ids instead of excluding forums ids???

Mosh has promised to incorporate an exclusion list in the next version.

Worked Perfectly, great mod :)

Thanks

mmacrypt 09-09-2010 03:48 AM

Installing it right now, wish me luck ;) I'm coming over from the old Non-working Twitter mod, need to get this one fired up. Hopefully my next post is, "working, looks great, thanks guys".

Same here, that did it.

Why thought? It must be a bug in the application.

DAMINK 09-10-2010 04:41 AM

Yep i got this hack working. Man i am stoked. I really missed the twitter traffic.
Thanks heaps for this.

Alucard^ 09-10-2010 09:30 AM

Someone now a mod similar like this but for Facebook?

I am using AddThis to share some threads in Facebook, Twitter and others... and is great, but the problem is that i need to share to MY FACEBOOK PAGE not to my FACEBOOK PROFILE, someone know how to do that? with RSS or something?

Liquid1ce 09-11-2010 09:27 AM

Is is possible to add keyword's i know i can add in the topic eg: #vbulletin and this will show up, but would it be possible to add so it wont show up in topic line if you know what i mean

I don't really know what you mean. The name of your feed serves for filtering needs in a Twitter reader, doesn't it?

Liquid1ce 09-11-2010 05:09 PM

no, as in if i add #vbulletin into title it will come up as a keyword, but i would like it so i wouldnt need to add it so it shows up in my title but only on twitter

DaneAU 09-12-2010 03:57 AM

Um i have some bots on my forum that post from XML feeds, now i use SpamOMatic with my vb and these posts are set to go into a moderation queue, when i approve them this module does not tweet them... It will tweet only Announcements and new threads created by myself - is this normal or is there some setting that should be changed.

Cheers

I am toying with the best way to add this (it is likely to be a set hash-tag per-forum, set in the AdminCP), but it will not be until v4.0.005, as I am releasing v4.0.004 here next week and it has already been set in stone and released to my subscribers at Wolfshead Solutions last month.

This hack does not do that, it only posts live tweets of new threads/posts made by members on your forum.

Bot posting of moderated external RSS feeds is not likely to ever make it into this hack.

DaneAU 09-12-2010 12:51 PM

Well i should be more specific, the bots are setup as users - what i mean is you know how you set a username from which XML feeds are posted as on vb sites. Well i have different usernames for the 3 feeds, so when a new thread is posted it is the same as posting as a normal user such as myself. I have made a test account as a normal registered user however this also does not appear to be working when i create a thread.

Could this be because I have made a custom user group aside from the "regular users" default group.

Any users in the regular users group are subject to Spam-O-Matic filtering, users who are trusted are placed in a custom user group with less restrictive spam filtering.... I completely understand not having RSS bots being able to post direct to twitter, as i don't want automatic rss feeds pouring into my forum either, hence the reason i filter the feeds and only validate interesting posts that are of interest to my users.

Videx 09-12-2010 02:58 PM

I think it has to do with the way vb4 handles the posts. I know the Event Forums mod also fails to tweet new posts. When a live user clicks "Post" it goes a different direction than when a mod/bot does it.

pedroenf 09-13-2010 04:34 PM

Cant get ito to work at all :( It shortens links to bit.ly but no tweets at all. Don't know what else to do. I have all steps completed in above instructions. It only shares my bit links if i log in to bit.ly and share them manually. Any help here?

IndigoSociety 09-13-2010 10:55 PM

How long until it shows up on Twitter? Immediately? If not it's not working I guess? Anyway to see errors? I'm not seeing any errors.

IndigoSociety 09-13-2010 11:06 PM

Yeah, I don't think it's working and I'm not getting errors. Twitter never asked me to verify the forum. Any advice?

IndigoSociety 09-13-2010 11:14 PM

I solved the problem by deleting the Twitter application and adding a new one because originally I used "read" instead of read+write. Bug with twitter I suppose.

Videx 09-13-2010 11:15 PM

I don't recall being asked to verify anything either. But when I posted a new thread to a twitter enabled forum, and logged into my forum's Twitter account, there was the message waiting to be tweeted. I did so manually. All subsequent twits have gone out automatically.

I don't think there's a lot of delay twitting, but I bet most readers are set to only retrieve tweets every x minutes. In fact, I think Twitter puts a hard limit on updates of something like 150/hr.

DAMINK 09-14-2010 05:55 AM

Really sucks it does not pick up the rss feeds!
That would be GOLD!

Not for the person whose feeds you're passing through to Twitter. If they want to twit their material they probably already are.

Unless, like us, you have a Joomla/other CMS front end and want to firstly notify the forums of a new article, and then tweet the notification via twitter.

Good point. Yes, if you're getting a whole lot of new original articles all the time then I can see where some sort of automation may be desired. But usually when people ask for this sort of thing it's because they have automated feeds coming in from elsewhere, and they just want to pass them through as if it's their own material. Out of curiosity, how many original articles per day do your members write? And what is your secret? I can't get my members to write anything. Well, nothing that shouldn't just be a new thread and not an article.

theoutlawed 09-17-2010 03:57 AM

Works great in 4.0.7 with no issues at all. Thanks for a useful mod to help build up the ole Twitter.

Mosh 09-18-2010 01:26 AM

Update: v4.0.004

-- Added: AdminCP Options to also use the TinyURL and tli.td url shortening services
-- Added: Automatic check to see if tweet is longer 140 characters or not (and post tweet if not)
-- Added: Automatic truncate tweet title text in the tweet if the tweet (including the URL) exceeds 140 characters

Question:
I see an "INVALID_JSON" error
Answer:
Select is.gd, TinyURL or tli.td in your AdminCP Options instead of bit.ly for url shortening.

onehost 09-19-2010 02:46 AM

Comma separated list of forumids allowed to be included when vBulletin posts to twitter.

Well isnt this a chore...? Would it not have been better just to exclude the
forums rathering then listing 50+ that it will include? I can exclude 3, but
rather having that option, I have to list 47 that I want to include...

Working like a charm, but have to take some time to add all the forums to the include...

Videx 09-19-2010 02:59 AM

The author has already included an exclusion list in the next release. Whew!

onehost 09-19-2010 03:03 AM

I can not it even posts private or admin sections unless you tell it not too...

I have never been a big fan of twitter or faceback...but once I saw the original
thread then I remembered I had a twitter name already setup not in use, so
I thought I would give this a try...it could not hurt i guess...

onehost 09-19-2010 03:38 AM

holy cow...I made my first twit post via the forum, and now I have 25 random spiders viewing that only twit thread that I made...wow...Its not unusal to have so many spiders, what I find interesting is that every single one is looking at that post only...
and another thing I find interesting is they are random spiders, normally they are like one spider or another, but these are
90% random/different spiders....
