tlwwolfseye,

Never think you are 100% safe.

Expensive operating systems, programs, scripts,... are constantly updated for security.
Why? Because anything can be hacked.

I'm sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused.

If your forum has been hacked please check out this post:

He fixed the reported exploit last night. Since then I imagine hes been in bed, since he is in Europe and it was just early morning here when you posted. I suggest you think about what you are saying before spouting off.

I always appreciated your mods, you had a few really great ones. But now I am rather careful. :(

You should have always been really careful, but this is the risk you take when you install 3rd party modifications to a script. There are thousands of modifications on this site, and they are all made by humans...who from time to time, are known to make mistakes ;).

Truthfully, I'd prefer to use Valter's mods now because now that he has had this issue, I'm sure he'll be making sure 110% that his future mods are VERY throughly checked.

People are human.

The Rocketeer 05-05-2011 10:39 AM

thanks for he update Valter. you have some of the best mods. I love using the VSa stuff you make...there should be a VSa skin!

make more mods..keep up the good stuff ;)

AusPhotography 05-05-2011 12:33 PM

Thanks for the quick fix.

Personally I feel the same, you releasing so many mods along with a few other members years ago kept me around ;). Things happen and Valter thanks for taking the time to post that info up about Team Analmus (lolz) they're the same bunch as the RECoders from what I've read however not wasting anymore time on them so let's all move on shall we? :D.

Valter 05-06-2011 07:25 AM

v5.0.4 - May 06 2011.
-Fixed: vbseo users not able to switch rules

To update:
-Import XML, allow overwrite

praveen1980 05-06-2011 07:50 AM

Thanks Valter :) Appreciate the quick fixes.

Peter_AUS 05-06-2011 08:42 AM

Yes I agree with the above sentiments, one can only try and stay ahead of the Ba$tards and update when things happen. Fortunately I was able to get up and running again within about 20 mins after reading some info that helped me, but I was actually logged in when they do the hack, so new something was up straight away and then that email came regarding the Mod, which flagged the reason as well.

They didn't get some of their code in due to other measures we have in place on my server.

Thanks for the quick fix to the mod, greatly appreciated.

New feature request:

On our forums we need explicit acceptance of some rules, mainly for European privacy reasons. Would it be possible to add accept/not accept ckeckboxes and store the choice somewhere?

Along with this feature we also need an option for each choice which makes the user pass or not. For example, upon registration they must accept that we use cookies and that we keep their username, password and email on our servers. In addition there are a couple of more laws to obbey. Each rule must be confirmed separately.

If they don't agree, they can't proceed on registration. For us, it would be fine, if we could define a user field and tell the rule which field name to use.

steve1966 05-06-2011 06:23 PM

Thank you valter

Breakpoint 05-08-2011 09:35 PM

The Forum Rules page loads as a blank page, I have VB 4.0.7 and VBSEO. Any idea why?

I can't manage any rules either, leads to a blank white page. I just downloaded the updated plugin today, I upgraded from the last version released in November.

EDIT-----

I re-imported the plugin and pages load correctly now.

exyuteam 05-17-2011 09:01 PM

AusPhotography 05-17-2011 10:22 PM

Thanks for the fix.
Its basically the same as I patched myself, but I've updated to your version.

I presume you have had lots of nasty PMs/Emails - ignore them. ;) I appreciated this hack!

Kym

praveen1980 05-18-2011 12:40 AM

Paul. 05-18-2011 11:58 AM

Go to your Admin Settings ---> VSA Advanced Forum Rules ---> Uncheck all "Before Accepting Rules User Can Not" checkboxes.

Paul. 05-19-2011 11:54 AM

Thanks MadShark, but in the profile it still shows the little thing saying the forum rules have not been accepted.

This mod only appears to work with Firefox. How can I make it work for IE (9) & Chrome?

Raeven 05-19-2011 12:08 PM

THX for the fix and nominated for Mod of the Month ;) (would be only fair for all the troubles you had so far)

That's the risk you take when you install 3rd party mods. Luckly I never installed this one on my forum. So I got lucky otherwise I'd probably gotten hacked too.

Pretty sure he sleeps and has a life too.....

He was on earlier today btw

That's fine, but he has TONS of time to post a quick post letting everyone know that his HACK has a EXPLOIT and users should disable it ASAP. That would prevent other users, who have NOT been hacked yet to save themselves.

But I am glad he has got an update for everyone fairly fast.

Spouting off? I have a life as well. I don't sit here and calculate time nor do I check it. If he had posted earlier that he was on top of things. Then no one would need to post. So of course I will state what I did when I see not even a simple posts to state what is going on.

So before you go after another member look at others actions as well. I see nothing wrong with what I did so don't threaten me. I didn't break any rules and I made a simple comment. If I broke a rule please show me. But don't go around threatening me. I know if I did the same to you.. you wouldn't be happy either.

PiroX 05-20-2011 10:28 AM

Feature suggestion
Could you make the rules as phrase to support multilanguage. It looks bad to put english and german on the same page

ALBCODERS 05-22-2011 10:42 AM

Thanks for the update

I didnt threaten you. Grow up. Also, keep on topic (feel free to consider that a threat if it helps).

Check what? Who cares if he came online or not. The fact is he never made any posts. I think you need to check before you point your finger at someone when you have no proof your self.

As for of off topicing I never did that. I was posting a reply to your message.

And if you read my earlier message before that, I wasn't even addressing you or talking to you at all. So I have no idea why you want to jump in on a post that was never even pointed towards you. It was addressed for the OP.

So technically you off topiced the post, since you mention the mouthing off part first. When I was really just looking for a reply from Valter. LMAO and yet you call me the one that needs to grow up. Hilarious sir!

The whole time I was talking about the problem with the mod and how the creator never addressed the members early off.

So once again before you point the finger and someone look at your own actions too.

I don't see a rule where it states members can't post in a forum of a mod they have not installed.

Freedom of speech.

I'm just talking for the people, who are too scared to say anything.

As well as I find it ironic that you post when someone posts something negative about your work. But when someone needs your help or asks a question you never post at all.

And I don't mean that you should get back to someone right away or even within a day. Obviously you have a life too and don't get paid for this kinda work. But I think within 2 weeks would be nice to get back to a person's question. And I am referring to other mods not this one directly.

No. You're just talking for yourself. You don't speak for anyone else. Are you done yet?

FoS? Yes, but mod threads are specific to a mod. There are more general forums to sprout crap from.

No, you ONLY speak for yourself. Don't ever presume to speak for anyone else.
