After installing this, I cannot see the guest activity on "who is online" page. How to fix it please.

Old-Git 07-18-2012 04:30 PM

I've just been playing with the latest release on VB 4.2.0 Pl2 and I notice that I sometimes get double entries, witht he same time stamps. After a little playing I think I've found that if a guest double-clicks a thread or forum it appears twice in the log. Anyone else seeing this?

Old-Git 07-18-2012 05:17 PM

Another thought, now that VB 4 has the new Navigation Manager we can incorporate things like static pages into our websites and link to them via a tab on the Navbar. Very useful if you have info that doesn't change very much and that does not need to be in the main database.

Is there anyway of tracking guests who click on these custom tabs?

Paul M 07-18-2012 10:46 PM

Only if the page is within the vbulletin system (i.e. calls global.php).

Old-Git 07-19-2012 01:35 AM

Hi Paul,

thanks for the response. I've just used BirdOprey5's Iframer mod to make this static page thing a lot prettier and following your last post I decided to check to see how Guest Manager dealt with this.

When I click through to 'List of Guests' page on my test rig I can see one visitor with 19 logged visits and (because the last page I visited as a guest was the Iframer configured static web-page) the 'Visit Area' shows Iframer with No Data in the 'Visit Information' column. However when I drill down into the 19 visits (on the 'Single Guest Display' page) all it shows is the 'Visit Information' columns and this shows that my last point of contact was 'Viewing Home Page'.

So 'Visit Area' is picking up on the use of Iframer but 'Visit Information' is not. Don't know if any of that is useful to you or not but I, in my sad little way, found it interesting, LOL!

To insert manually in vB3 the phrase is
Code:

<!-- track guests -->
                        $guesttitle
    <!-- end track guests -->

What is this in vB4?
Thanks.

Hi Paul,
For some reason the track guests mod is white on custom styles. Is there a template that I am missing here? I would like to change the color to the color of the style.

Thanks :)

Here is a screen shot:

Paul M 07-30-2012 03:26 PM

Alter the colours in the custom_trg.css template.

Paul: Am I on your ignore list? :o

imported_dfmafia 07-30-2012 11:28 PM

I installed Track-guests-4200 on vB 4.2.0 PL 2.

Download and installed improved spider display.
WGO did not update. Who's Online did not update.

Am I missing something?

Nichtofen 08-02-2012 12:21 AM

If you installed bitfield_trg.xml in the proper folder on your server.

Set your required permissions in the usergroup manager.

Note that by default no usergroup permissions are given, you must set them.
AdminCP:
Go to Usergroups -> Usergroup manager

Select and edit the the usergroup permissions to your liking. Settings for plug-in under each usergroup is located at the bottom under a new heading: Guest Tracking Permission, with 4 options.

In my case, currently only the Administrators are allowed access to this information. Until I understand it a little better. :)

Hope this helps.

imported_dfmafia 08-02-2012 07:19 PM

yeah, i found all the permission settings.

but my WGO doesnt show any new data
no guest display as well

Paul M 08-03-2012 03:53 PM

Did you follow the instructions ?

Quote:

To install (or upgrade);
  • Unzip the files.
  • If upgrading from a previous version, delete any old trg bitfield xml files from your ../includes/xml/ folder.
  • Upload the new bitfields file to your ../includes/xml/ folder.
  • Import the product into vBulletin using the ACP Product Manager.
  • Set your required permissions in the usergroup manager.

Streamcentral 08-03-2012 04:32 PM

i have followed the instructions and its installed correctly - i can see all the track visitors options in the control panel options which have all been enabled. only thing i can thin im not doing is the user group permissions. where abouts can i find this. ive looked in permissions and their doesnt seem to be a track visitor option for permissions. can anyone give some guidence on this part?

yes. please read this forum starting with the original first post located at the top. Nothing is active by default.

Edit: My browser didnt refresh the last few posts. Read my last post (#253) of this thread. It explains where to find the user permissions area within the Admin Control Panel. If you are not seeing the "Guest Tracking Permissions" Section at the bottom within each usergroup (administrators, moderators, registered users, etc) then you have not uploaded the included .xml file correctly into the respective folder on your hosting server.

PM me if you would like me to take a look. If I find the issue, I can walk you through. Hard to tell where/what we missed along the way. Would be happy to assist.

Usergroup permissions are in the [standard] usergroup manager screens.

You need to give your user group access by going to the user group manager, clicking on your user group and going to the very bottom and set the "Can View the Guests Visited Display" to yes. Then save. Look at the screen shot below...

thanks after playing with it yesterday i figured it out i figured what i was looking for was a drop down somewhere but that was not the case ...however when i went to the track guests page it was all white and i couldnt see anything on all my styles is beyond me why default wasnt made transparent in the xml so i went and did that to all my styles and was a pia to find the right template...

anyway its all sorted and looking good besides the above mentioned seems like a good mod

s.stuart 08-23-2012 12:27 PM

I am very impressed with this MOD. Excellent! As one of our forum's Administrators, this extra information is very valuable. Even though this MOD has been around for a while, I'm marking it for MOTM.

Paul M -

I have a need for the List of Guests Visiting the Forum : Logged In data to be written to a file, and to have the file (will have a fixed name) updated each time the list is updated. How can this be done?

iraqiboy90 02-18-2013 01:48 PM

sort-by feature on the list? IP, location, name

Track Guest Visits 4.2.0.0

Justinphx 03-16-2013 05:12 AM

Working great for me in 4.1.12 and something I have been looking for. Is there anyway to make the mod open a new page when displaying the lists? That would make it easier than going back and forth when track a guests activity (and member activity on your similar mod).

Thanks

ozzy47 01-12-2014 11:41 AM

I have decided to update the spiders list, I added 220 spiders to it, you can now get the list from here, http://ozzmodz.com/showthread.php/94...Updated?p=1584

Note: You must be logged in in order to download the list.

mort2412 06-11-2014 03:26 PM

Great mod and working fine on 4.2.2PL1.

How can I change the WGO display so that 'Total guests that have visited the forum today' is below 'Total members that have visited the forum today'

Many thanks

Paul M 06-13-2014 03:35 PM

As I recall, you need to fiddle with the execution order on the plugins.

BigAl205 08-25-2014 04:01 AM

Under "Visit Area", if an IP is visiting "register", does that mean that the IP is trying to access register.php or does it mean that somebody is actually clicking the register button? Where does the mod pull its info from?

BigAl205 08-31-2014 10:33 AM

Bump.
