No longer works in vbulletin 4.06 (at least on my site)

Carnage 08-12-2010 10:48 AM

It doesn't work at all in 4.0.6?

The good news is that /finially/ vb seem to have taken notice of this bug report: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-952

I dunno, it's still unassigned and listed as an "improvement request" rather than the huge bug it is.

RustyDogma 08-12-2010 01:01 PM

I'm a bit confused..

Which of the following should I be using to install .. just the 'hooks'?

hooks_vbcms.xml (748 Bytes, 313 downloads)
product-imhotek_useoriginalthread alpha 2.xml (2.0 KB, 474 downloads)

Yes, you are very confused, and apparently haven't been reading. You shouldn't install anything right now as it doesn't work.

JonSidneyB 08-13-2010 03:45 AM

It is working for me on 4.0.3 I understand it is not working on 4.0.6. I would like to upgrade to 4.0.6 but will not to preserve this.

Having this has increased my revenue by quite a bit. (well, it had dropped to near 0 but went up a bit after this) I don't understand what changes have taken place so if this cannot be made to work on 4.0.6 financially I need to stay where I am at.

If a solution comes around I will gladly upgrade at that point :)

Pathor 08-14-2010 11:17 AM

It works for me on 4.0.6.

btw: thanks for the mod! :)

It's started working again in 406 with no modification at all? Can anyone else confirm this?

mitch84 08-14-2010 12:59 PM

work fine for me too on vb4.0.6

JonSidneyB 08-14-2010 10:16 PM

This is interesting. Why would it start working in 4.0.6 on it's own?

Ok....I guess I can starting thinking about 4.0.6

Because they changed something after 4.04 and changed it back after 4.05?

The same reason it worked in 4.04 and stopped working in 4.05.

JonSidneyB 08-14-2010 11:01 PM

Thanks

carrlos 08-14-2010 11:24 PM

Mine worked in 4.0.4, 4.0.5 and now I will try 4.0.6.

Mr Coder, sir... will you be providing an update for this to those wishing to upgrade to 4.0.6? I am currently running 4.0.3, but wish to upgrade asap to .6, however, as I don't know the outcome of performing the upgrade with this hack intact, I'm unwliling to upgrade just yet.

Some hack authors, like Mr. Zeropage (arcade) emails his users (of his hack) once he's updated, could you perhaps do similar?

Also, you said:

What do you mean, they've taken notice? There is still no one assigned to it that I can see. My screen claims only that it is a confirmed issue.

ps - just to add, this IS perhaps the most useful hack I have employed throughout my three years on vbulletin.

KProjects 08-15-2010 08:06 PM

Just re-enabled it for 4.0.6 - seeeeeems to be working fine..

djbaxter 08-16-2010 01:46 PM

Just tried re-enabling this for 4.06. I get the following errors (actually the same one x4) on the CMS page:

Quote:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/includes/class_postbit.php(321) : eval()'d code on line 21

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/includes/class_postbit.php(321) : eval()'d code on line 21

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/includes/class_postbit.php(321) : eval()'d code on line 21
If I disable this add-on, the error disappears.

Time to reinstall and try my luck!

btw, anyone else check back to this thread daily to see if theirs improvements/updates. lol.

edit: epic fail on my side. All i know, is this once worked for everyone. :P

Daryn 08-17-2010 12:02 AM

I had this installed for a while and just kept updating vb. Now with the 4.0.6 update the mod seems to have started to work properly again. I don't see double posts or missing comments anymore. I'm hesitant to remove and reinstall it since it's working, I kind of don't want to poke at it and break it. :)

What ahcnged in this version of vB?

Carnage 08-17-2010 03:26 PM

I was still trying to figure out what changed between 03 and 05 to break this... if its now working again in 06 :s no idea what they are upto...

Folks, I installed this on 4.0.6, and it appeared to be working really well.

However, someone reported they couldnt post to facebbok from a thread reply.

Digging into it, i didable mods one by one, and it was only when disabling this, the facebook post from threads worked again.

Can anyone else confirm if this is a prob for you also?

Thanks

Acido 08-18-2010 07:17 AM

Hi Carnage. Thanks for share this useful mod.

Suggestion:
It's possible add a feature to this, that hide the editor for comments when the thread is closed? I notice that the article doesn't accept new comments when the thread is closed, but without any warning to the user. The post simply doesn't appear.

Hope you can figure how add this in future versions, if come.

Videx 08-18-2010 02:22 PM

I too was wondering how it deals with closed threads. We have all our threads set to close automatically after x days, so there's a good chance articles will have closed threads.

I just sort of assumed if the associated thread was closed, comments would go to the default comment forum. But your idea is a better solution.

Rho'd Berth 08-25-2010 11:30 AM

I can't import this into 4.0.6, I get: "Invalid File Specified" when I press "Import"

Rho'd Berth 08-26-2010 07:05 AM

Is the attached hooks_vbcms.xml ok?
When I look into the source there's hardly anything in it. If I compare it to the alpha-file the difference is huge. Maybe that's the reason that I get this error when I try to import it?

Rho'd Berth 08-26-2010 11:24 AM

Never mind, I was importing the wrong xml file.

Carnage 09-12-2010 09:07 AM

I've updated the mod to remove support for vb 4.0.0 The extra hooks.xml file was confusing people.

This mod is now only works on vbulletin versions 4.0.1 and above.

The Uninstallation and Full Uninstallation steps still refer to the extra hooks.xml file. Should they be updated?

Carnage 09-16-2010 06:03 PM

Thanks, fixed.

I can also confirm that this mod works on vb4.0.6 as my own forum has been upgraded to 4.0.6 without issues.

djbaxter 09-16-2010 07:16 PM

Still working on 4.07 as well. You're an update behind. :)

Carnage 09-17-2010 11:38 AM

I tend to jump several versions at once as upgrading is time consuming and often breaks at least 1 custom style or mod.

mitch84 09-17-2010 02:39 PM

work fine on vb4.0.7, thank you

krustyx 09-17-2010 03:01 PM

Perfect! Exactly what i was looking for! :)

daveaite 09-23-2010 02:04 AM

Does it work for 4.07?

I'll have to try my luck once more.. :)

Carnage 09-24-2010 08:46 AM

It should do, yes.

ckeins 10-01-2010 09:27 AM

I do have problems with my "auto image resizer" and this mod. The auto-resizing doesn't work.
I'm using this mod. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=237650

Which image resizer works with this mod?

Carnage 10-05-2010 12:24 PM

I don't know of any specific reason this shouldn't work with that mod.

What exactly doesn't work?

carrlos 10-08-2010 02:05 AM

Carnage- have you noticed a lot of comments removed from the jira about incorporating the feature of this mod into vB? I especially noticed that my last comments were deleted.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but what is jira?

That's the Vbulletin bug tracker. But it's not your fault - he should have included a link or two to illustrate his point. As soon as I read his message I wanted to go look and see if I had voted, but without a link I wasn't going to go track it down myself.
