Weird, I have installed the product and Vbulletin tells me that I have not permission to view the helpdesk. Is there anything that I'm missing here?

P.S. It gives me: * Login or Register to be able to use our Ticketing HelpDesk!

vikris 04-03-2010 12:23 PM

Problem solved, forgot to setup user group permissions. Silly me. :)

Is there a way to setup a widget for FAQ on the CMS page that is content.php?

Is there a way, when guest wants to send a question, not to register, just to send the question with a mandatory field for the email of the guest who sends the question?

Thanks in Advance!

Maria,

Hi. Everything installed fine and I'm looking forward to using this excellent tool. However when I attempt to enter a new ticket, I get this error:

Quote:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in [path]/microsupport/includes/functions.php on line 420
Steps to reproduce:
1) Click "New Ticket".
2) Enter simple Title and Description.
3) Click "Submit"

Expected Result:
Ticket Created.

Actual Result:
Error listed above.

I'm using vB V4.0.3.

Any idea why this is occurring?

Thanks and regards,

Dan.

Why I thought that I've corrected it before release. It comes from function getRecordById, because most probably are you using other database than MySQL.

Please try the attached file and let me know if it works.

Yes, they were from the Free version, but the zip file for download is the full version. Have no time to get new screenshoots.

I have been using this great addon for a month now, its great.
Wanted to thank you personaly for the hard work!
If I could add more suggestions you might missed or things you havent tought of it would be the following:
  • Filter tickets by poster
  • Search tickets
  • Mass close tickets (using radio buttons)
  • the ability to "assign" a ticket to a certain technitian
  • statistics of products\departments
  • make permissions per department, only permitted allowed to view\close ticket per department
  • Limit poster to X open tickets
  • add more status's and the ability to change status ourselves
  • Email all related repliers in a ticket when it was replied (like Starred tickets)

Thanks again!
Amit:)

Hello Amit,

Thank you for your suggestion, I've marked them all, and see what I'll add and what not. Currently I'm improving microSUPPORT by adding:
  1. Ability to sell ticket points to those usergroups which are not permitting to submit tickets. Payments by PayPal and 2CO.
  2. Ability to write manuals. Technician post articles and they appear in listing like 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2 etc
But this version will gets more time to come here. Here you can find always one version back from the commercial one. I think that this is more fair, than having lite version with only 50% of the features.

You just have to go into the usergroup and change the permissions to allow unregisterd/guests to be able to use the mod.

As an Admin (or technician), all the tickets are available for you to view when you click:

Techinician => Tickets to do

Or are you talking about the unregistered keeping track of their ticket?

I don't think there is a way to do that. I don't think unregistered users though should expect to be able for any website to keep track of their tickets without some sort of login/registration. The best you can do is maybe have a forum set aside for unregistered guests who have questions about your site/product.

If you let unregistered use the support ticket system, u should prob ask them to at least leave an email so you can contact them.

That's a shame. I was hoping to use this to replace my eSupport system, but this is the only thing that is missing.

Ideally (for my needs), the system would ask for an email address for unregistered users and then email them a link they can use to keep track of the ticket as well as email them updates each time the ticket is updated by an operator.

I'll keep an eye on this mod in case this is ever added in, but in the mean time I'll be (unfortunately) sticking with eSupport.

When you click on the NavTab, there should be links under it. There should be "New Ticket", "My Tickets". and "Technician". Do you not have these links?

Trying to find answer to this, but searches don't show. I like this mod, but a few questions.

I am the senior site admin for Agares Media and need to configure this support ticket system to be available under the following conditions:
  • The user has purchased an extended or premium license to one of our products which include the ticket support with the purchases
  • Ticket support entitlement has not expired (extended expires after 1st year)
  • User can purchase support tickets in batches of 30 which are valid for 180 days then expire

Could you possibly point me in the right direction? What files am I to edit and about where? I am a programmer and can probably figure it out if I were pointed in the proper direction. Thanks.

You could create a new usergroup that would only have access to the microSupport system. ie. usergroup X (premium members). So basically you'd maybe have to use the paid subscription system in Vbulletin as the payment gateway, and then when people purchased through it their usergroup would be changed to usergroup x, and then they would have access to the microSupport ticketing system. Also when their subscription expires etc, they would be returned to their original usergroup and thus wouldn't be able to access the ticketing system.

That seems to be the simplest way.

Hello Maria,

I love your product from 4.2.2 version and it worked just fine for me.

I had to reinstall the database, due to a corruption, from a backup that never had Microsupport on it.

Now I am running VBulletin 4.0.3 pl1 and tried installing Micro Support, when I tried importing the product.xml file I get the following error from the database

Database error in vBulletin 4.0.3:

Invalid SQL:

MySQL Error : Duplicate entry '1' for key 1

This is because there is already a record with id 1 from your previous installation. Even if you've manually deleted the records, the ids remain there. So, its better to delete (drop) the table microsupport_ticket_status and re-import the product_microsupport.xml or if you're familiar with phpMyAdmin (I assume that you know to use it, so you can drop the table), you can click on SQL and enter:
Code:

        CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `microsupport_ticket_status` (
          `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
          `name` varchar(50) NOT NULL default '',
          `displayorder` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
          PRIMARY KEY  (`id`),
          KEY `displayorder` (`displayorder`)
        ) ENGINE=MyISAM;
        INSERT INTO `microsupport_ticket_status` VALUES (1, 'Open', 1);
        INSERT INTO `microsupport_ticket_status` VALUES (2, 'Progress', 2);
        INSERT INTO `microsupport_ticket_status` VALUES (3, 'Closed', 3);

ATTENTION *** Assuming that there is no table prefix. If you're using table prefix you must add it before microsupport_ticket_status (4 instances).

Umm.

You may want to re-look at that clause. Why would I download it if I can't use it (or even, some of it.)?

You can download and use it as it is. You can also modify the code to meet your special needs, just you can't share these modifications with others.

As for the last. It means that you can't copy a part of the code (eg a function) and add this code to another script. What's bad on this? None developer permits copy and paste of his/her code to another script.

Im having a problem with this but it only seems to be in browsers other than Internet Explorer. When you login to the site its fine but when you go to the support addon it logs you out. And even if you log in again it says thank you for loggin and then it takes you back to the support page and your logged back out. Sounds like a cookie issue.

Bug in adding new product category.

When adding " ' " (Prime symbol) in the name of the category, there is a MySQL ERROR.

Code:

Invalid SQL:
UPDATE io_microsupport_products
                      SET name='Viewing New Posts or Today' Posts' WHERE id=21;

MySQL Error  : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Posts' WHERE id=21' at line 2
Error Number  : 1064

reproduce error with:
sample: Viewing New Posts or Today's Posts

I would like to know if developer is thinking about adding language support, to be able to change language in product, departments, faqs, questions, answers...etc. I am willing to help traduce into French and Spanish.

Or, my question will be how to create a language file to import to change my categories, faqs, everything i've added to the microsupport system into different languages Or how to add vb rawphrase instead of actual words..

thanks in advance.

Any way of changing "HelpDesk" in the navbar to something else, like "Support"?

Changing the title in the options does not change all the various instances of "HelpDesk"

And what stylvars setting changes the header color and background color of the blocks on the main help desk page?

Great mod. Appreciate the work done on this.
