Thanks for your help!

If you restore your whole 'post' table, you'll lose posts that are newer than the backup date. So it's better to restore just the nominate_topic_award and nominate_topic_award_rank columns - can't help ya with that though since that's a site admin issue.

Super Mod!

Installed and seems to be working fine, however the nomination is not showing up for registered members but it's showing up for me. I've checked over the settings several times, I haven't banned any usergroups or userids either and I can't see why it's not being displayed for members only.

EDIT: In fact, now it's working for everyone in every other forum expect the one individual forum the Poll is posted in, WTF :L

Something weird is happening. I have it set up to monthly nominations. Installed the mod in the middle of the month. When the poll was created (10.16.2009), I went in to edit the poll (just to see what it looks like on the inside). On the inside it says "This poll gets closed in 7 days". Well I manually added 15 days to match the end of the month.

I went into the poll thread today and I have zero nominations in there (all nominations have mysteriously disappeared), though it does say that 25 people have voted. Picture is attached. I tried to update just about everything and anything through the ACP. No change.

What is happening? Thanks.

Regarding 'TOTW/F/M' phrase, you need to search for that term in the Phrase Manager - I forgot the exact name for it right now.

Glad you finally got it working :D Yeah, you should used the default settings 'cause those are the ones that I tested the most so they're most likely to be reliable.

It's a great mod and already taking off really well on my forum, I'll review the file names maybe I made an error somewhere.

Keep up the good work Vbboarder and if you ever need any icons buttons ect just holla.

I've just checked over the files and the image names are correct.

Any one got any ideas why the nomination button isn't showing up the forum where the Poll thread is created? It's working for everyone and everywhere else.

matthewhotdude 10-22-2009 08:57 AM

I only replaced one of the original images, it has always been the same from default, it would show 1st place ribbon, for first and second place.

This is the URL to the ribbon for first and second place

You should create a forum just for the nominations poll threads, otherwise the nominations themselves can be nominated.

Thanks, I thought about that. However is that a requirement or just a suggestion?

EDIT: I've just done that, works fine, Thanks (Y)

You've replaced the wrong image.

The default image is this.

awards_ribbon.gif

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/10/22.jpg

The custom one I'm using is this one.

awards_ribbon.gif

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/10/23.jpg

So you must have renamed the file before or after uploading to the server.

Like said in the previous post these are the correct file names for the correct images and all of them need to be uploaded.

Here's the image vbboarder.

Click the quote button to view the image above if you don't remember about the misalignment.

vb, I think I figured out why it's misaligning. It's b/c I'm using postbit legacy and you are using the hook $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left], which would be fine for the regular postbit, but doesn't work well for postbit_legacy.

What plugin do we have to edit to change the hook? Thanks

crkgb 10-24-2009 03:43 AM

Will have to uninstall. The issue is not addressed. Love the product but without functionality it is not helpful.

vbboarder 10-24-2009 03:39 PM

@AzzidReign: I already posted on how to change the image hook location for someone else. Here's the link again: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....0&postcount=59

crkgb 10-27-2009 10:07 PM

I apologize. Is there any way I could get some support for the issue described in my previous post?

I'm running 3.8.2

Thank You

Its like an impossible job to delete the winners after a testinground.

I been digging in phpmyadmin, but no luck, after updating the counter, they are back to what they were..

Can you please make a reset job? thx!

And I like the nomination Mod.. I do!

I love this add-on! However, my board uses postbit_legacy and I've been having a hard time making this work. So far, the add-on is working with the popup (when clicking the username) and $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left]. I tried enclosing $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left]:
HTML Code:

<div class="smallfont">$template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left]</div>
But it's not enclosed in a small box like Posts (please see screenshot). I also can't find the button to let the users nominate the post.

ShawneyJ 11-02-2009 06:38 AM

wow no wonder this isnt winning motm, no Support...

grey_goose 11-02-2009 11:55 AM

ton of us don't get the nom button, but... oh well.

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to remove this mod due to it not being wanted on my forums anymore and i removed it via the Admincp but still get this error sent to my email every time someone views the site.....can anyone tell me how to fix this:

I have deleted all plugins etc related to it and this is still running.

I have now so hopefully it will work yes?

I removed all files associated, do i need to remove anything from the DB as it was an SQL command causing the error ?

crkgb 11-04-2009 08:24 PM

Well, will have to wait for support. You never know what issues the creator currently has.

bada_bing 11-05-2009 02:21 AM

I would like to install this mod sounds great but worried about the lack of support?

letsjoy 11-05-2009 04:39 PM

MySQL Error  : Duplicate entry '1-265245' for key 2

I got that error and no nominated threads appear when poll created :(

vbboarder 11-05-2009 05:33 PM

Now that a particular troll is gone (didn't know Avril's fans can be so nasty.... must be teen angst), I'll start supporting this mod again.

Remember, you're not paying for this mod since it's completely FREE - there's no branding (ie: powered by 'xxx'), no links insertion (ie: links to affiliate site), no advertising, and not even a Paypal donations option - SO don't feel like you have a right to demand service.... if you still do, you can uninstall this mod 'cause you ain't gettin' it with that attitude :p

Before you think that a mod is not supported, you should check who's posted in the thread and how many times. This is easily done: just click on the 'Replies' number in any forumdisplay or search page and a popup will appear that gives this info.

In just a month, this mod has accumulated more posts than the majority of mods in their lifetime. It's not the most installed mod, but it's definitely active and supported.

vbboarder 11-05-2009 05:46 PM

@letsjoy: The reputation bug will be fixed in an future version. For now, posts that have received reputation from a user can not be nominated BY THAT USER. If you want to enable a user to give BOTH reputation and nomination to the same post, then simply set the setting, 'Reputation', to 0 in VB Options.

Have you tried starting a new nomination contest via ACP > Special Actions? If so, are you still having the same problem?

BTW: I can't give support if you manually edit the poll because there are so many things you can change that can cause the nominations contest to no longer work. Note that the contest thread & poll are owned by whoever you set in Nominations settings.

Tons huh.... a bit of an exxageration. I'd say lots of users are able to get the button to display as shown by the hundreds of people who have installed this mod in VB 3.7 & 3.8. Most likely users who can't get the button to show have customized templates and don't fully understand VB templating system.... newbies?

This mod does necessary DB cleanup when you uninstall. Once you delete the files, you should not get anymore DB errors related to this mod.

Right, because the post detailing the code necessary for inserting the button is glaringly obvious. Or... are we supposed to reverse engineer your template mods, ID it, and strip it out ourselves?

Most likely the install directions are non-existant for those with customized templates. That's what is most likely. Then again, there are so few of us that would have customized templates that visit this site, I can see why you wouldn't bother.

vbboarder 11-06-2009 04:57 PM

@grey goose: well, obvious enough to the many users who installed it in VB 3.7 & 3.8.

Only written 19 posts and you decided to troll this thread.... lucky me

grey_goose 11-06-2009 05:36 PM

I, and a few others, all said we had the same problem.

Did you answer it constructively? No. Your only reply was that I was a 'newbie'.

Buddy... you're trolling your OWN thread.

Thank you very much for the reply. Will not edit anything in the poll in November. Will see what happens.

What caught my attention was "The poll will get closed in 7 days". While I use TOTM option.

Also It appeared as the pol went to all zeros after the amount of nominated topics exceeded 10 (maximum allowed). Currently have 5. Will see what happens.

Thanks again. Wonderful idea.

Well, that statement is now more accurate - and some of those users were able to get the image to show later. This silly conversation would not have started if you did not insert your original unsolicited, snippy comment:

@crkgb: your problem may be a bug. One other user had the same problem if he set the "topics to display on polls" to 10. 10 is actually a new setting so you should set it to 9. Also, if you lose your nominations from the poll, you can get them back by ACP > Topic Nominations > Refresh Poll action.
