How doI create a new blankpage with only "Connect with Facebook" button on it, so when people click on that button, facebook popup connect window pops up?

This was a GREAT mod however I had to remove it from my site as the calls to Facebook got my site blocked by a number of major companies and state governments.

As soon as I removed the facebook mod a number of companies and government agencies agreed to remove my site from their blocks.

Interesting, many companies block facebook... can someone confirm this will get our sites blocked as well?

Just so everyone knows, the problems I've been posting about in regards to facebook all have to deal with a conflict of vbGallery (Photopost). After much frustration I sent the developer an email and he responded promptly that it was indeed an issue with vbGallery and he would be working on an update this weekend. So cross your fingers, tough it out, and hopefully the geniuses at work will come to our rescue. ;)

No unfortunately, I wish I was as I liked this mod.

The State of Maine was the first one that I knew blocked us.

Then later on the same day started getting notice that many schools and companies around the country couldn't get to the site reporting that it was blocked as well.

One of my members called the State of Maine IT department who investigated it and told him that we were blocked due to the calls to Facebook. So after that I disabled this and undid all the template changes. The user contracted his friend in the state of maine who had whoever rescan our site and make it available again.

This also opened up the other companies and school systems who were also reporting being blocked. So I am not sure who they use for their blocking database but it seems like they all used the same one.

Please understand I am not putting this mod down, its an excellent mod, I am just reporting what happened to me and my site because of this mod.

They are most likely using Websense to block the sites. The state agency I used to work for, and the city I work for now use it.

I run VBSEO and this mod together and they seem to work fine.

Installed, then uninstalled this mod.....now I have two login boxes on my VBAdvanced page, and when I log in it says I'm logged in, but wont log me in. I've reverted all the templates, and uninstalled everything FB related.....could this problem be caused by database tables? If so, what database tables do I need to uninstall.

I just had this installed by the author. Quick repsonses, fast service nice job. Recommended if you are not so clear on what to do or are not a coder.

Tried the login once, went through fine, asked what my nickname should be. Added one, and logged in. We have the system set so you have to be approved manually, and I did. System took in the avator/profile picture as mapped just fine. Showed on my facebook accoun that I joined the site. I posted and replied and subcribed to the thread but this info never showed up, even though I select to publish.

I deleted the account that was created in VB and tried again. The login screen kept looping and when I decided to login in with my regular login, it took me to the FBC screen of asking what my nickname should be. I tried this with a friends FB account too, and the same thing. I have shut down all browsers, cleared cache and same thing. I am using IE7 on Windows Vista 64 bit.

Edit: Just tried again, went to enter nickname and got: Fatal error: Call to a member function shareads() on a non-object in /home5/stangsof/public_html/forum/includes/functions.php(5721) : eval()'d code on line 11

Edit: well seems I was getting notified with all the posts, they were in my notifications, not my wall guess I mis-understood, sorry

No if they have email notification enabled they will get the email. The email address stored for facebook accounts IS VALID for mails sent from the application

Still cant get this mod working. On the VBAdvanced front page there is two log-in boxes, if I try to log-in with the one that has the FB button under it....it tells me I've entered an incorrect user name or password.

If I use the regular login box, it tells me I'm logged in, then redirects to the VBAdvanced page, where I'm still not logged in (The login box is still there with my user name and password, and none of the admin modules are visible). The Navbar also only has the "non-logged in buttons available.

However, I am logged in when I go to the forums, so its only the VBAdvanced front page thats messed up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling three times now, without any luck. Paid for professional installation this morning and havent heard back yet......

Things seem to be working a lot better now that I gave (per suggestion) persmission to unregistered users to see forum... DOH! Thanks

We had to uninstall because we were getting trailing slashes everywhere. (www.url.com//fblogin.php for example)

I wasn't sure but one of our Admins said it's vBSEO?

first create new user fields to match the ones on FB like facebook profile, etc. then under data map section of this mods settings, youll have 2 drop down menus if i remember right. select matching fields and click ok or map each time. for example, select first name on each, then last name on each, then email on each.....

which ever ones you pair with each other are the ones that are linked or mapped.

I'm installing this on another site and I get a big nastey error when doing step 7 (data maping)

Fatal error: Call to undefined function print_datamap_row() in D:\xxxxxxxxxxx\Web\admincp\fbconnect_datamap.php on line 96

and a big long sql query.

Is this impotant to make Data Mapping?

not really. its an option. it just automatically fills in their info from facebook onto their profile on your forum. you can not use it and they can just add the info manually if they want. data mapping is probably the easiest thing to do while setting this mod up.

i tried this but had troubles with it so i uninstalled so i cant just look to see exactly what everything says in the settings, but hope i helped you a lil bit.

My members cant get it to work with internet explorer they can only get it to work with mozilla.Can i ask why please or is there an ie

This is a most awesome mod! I've tried installing it and ran into some problems.
Whenever I click on news feed I see a blank screen. Basically I uploaded the XML and then couldn't enter the template feeds because the screen shows blank. Anyone have this issue?

BTW, i'm using PHP 4.

This is an awesome mod! Support was fantastic as well. It looks like a few of us are struggling with the news feed templates. I get what it is, I just don't seem to successfully be able to post images and links so they look right and make sense. I just want one image and one line of text for each thing, and when I modify the short story I can't delete it so it only shows one image. If someone can post a step-through I would greatly appreciate it! This mod rocks!

Is there anyway for existing board users to connect via Facebook without the need to create a new vbulletin account, i.e. integrate their existing account?

Also, if changes have been made to the data mapping, is there a function to repopulate the account info from Facebook into vbulletin?

This might be a bug.

When a user is on a corporate network they get popups from their firewall/proxy sayin the site is blocked. the forum loads in the background so it doesn't stop them from using the forum but as you can imagine, clicking a popup closed every time the page loads is not going to make ppl happy.

unfortunately, many forums main user base is people sitting at working not wanting to work so they post the day away.

anyway we can only do facebook checking if the user is in the facebook group or something? im not sure how to combat this because i didn't start digging through the code yet.
