The only thing stopping me is having users who register via Facebook being required to use their Facebook login from that point on. Perhaps if they could choose a password at the time of registration, that would give them the choice of the native login if they so choose.

I think they can set a password themselves later if they want. I guess the only issue with adding a password option is it slows registration, perhaps have it as an optional field?

Mine didn't either- until I realized I missed a template edit. Double check all your edits.

Setting them one by one would not be possible. I was asking because I have my Wordpress installation bridged to vBulletin and making the native login possible would be quite essential.

This could be solved by letting the users choose a password when registering through FB.

Is this technically possible? If it is, how much work would it require? :)

(Amazing support btw, and blazing speed developing. Many thanks. Installed and donated. I urge everyone to do the same ;))

Indeed, fantastic speed and support. I'm planning to donate in a day or two once I figure out why it only pops up on some pages under some browsers.

First, thanks for your support and the donation!

Letting the users to choose a password when registering is possible, but then it feels more like a registration than a login. I could include an option in the CP to enable & disable password request.

Fill me in on something... other the single-signon... what else is facebook connect able to potentially do?

Can it bring across your profile picture updates on facebook to the forum?

What else is possible ... if not currently with VB...

DJScorpio 12-12-2008 07:52 PM

firefox.. how do i sort the cookie / cashe thing out

sllik 12-12-2008 07:53 PM

v1.1.1 Hot Fix
Edit Template - footer
Find:
<script src="clientscript/fbconnect.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Replace With:
<script src="$vboptions[bburl]/clientscript/fbconnect.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

This should fix the problem of login popup not working on all pages (vBAdvanced pages)

Firefox.

Ok I cleared my cache and now the box pops up but I get an error:

Invalid Argument

The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL (http://www.ahealthforum.com/xd_recei...%220.405%22%7D) must have the application's callback url (http://ahealthforum.com/) as a prefix. You can configure the callback url in the application's settings.

It took me a while to figure out TMS, but after I did.... it saves a ton of time for testing and updating VB when its template edit time.

It's worth it's weight in gold!

try this: go to your facebook application settings, select the connect tab (category) and set the Base Domain setting to bleachboard.com

also upload the xd_receiver.htm to the main directory so that bleachboard.com/xd_receiver.htm would be accessible

This would be most totally awesome. Setting the profile pic's thumbnail as the avatar of the newly created user would be seriously good.

I'm also very glad to hear the passwording option is possible. I understand why it could sometimes be redundant, but at times it would be quite important. (For example in a vb + wordpress CMS bridge with lots of predicted users. It would also serve as a backup login possibility in case something happens either at users or FB's end)

Thanks so much for your work, much appreciated :)
