any help please?

I installed the hack, added the amount of stars in the control panel, updated counter (user info). But the stars just don't show up in the post.
Any idea's ?

I have installed the hack, but am unsure of the last bit in Your stars Hack installer screen ...

It says "Go to Add under Stars, and set up the levels you want (e.g. 10 posts = 1 star, etc.)"

I assume You mean a "menu item" in the CP, but such item is not present.....

So what have I done wrong?

I have installed the star hack and everything works great except for when a user reaches the next post level to get another star they don't recieve it until I go into the admin cp and do the update counters thing. Is there anyway for this to auto update when a user reaches the next level so I don't have to do it manually? Or if it is supposed to do it on it's own is there something in the code I can check? Thanks for any help.

From the installer:

Keep in mind: Any place it asks how many stars you want to give, it's a number (from 1 to 100) and not star.gif or anything else. The hack itself processes the number and goes from there automatically.

If you put 100 there then you get 10 stars...etc...

Btw. Not releated. I installed the "links hack" aswell, and it said to put a link to links.php on the forum. How do I do that, and is there a "links" button to use?

Still no luck installing the stars, i double check everything, all goes well, except the displaying of the start, they just don't show up.

My file are attached, if somebody would like to help.
I'm clueless. I have installed the hack before, then there where no probs.

I have a problem,

when I put in usergroup an image for a group, I do not have an error
but in the base sql I do not have the image which I defined in
usergroup

( i use vbportal 3.0b pr 6.1 )

In your admin: Styles -> Modify -> Default (probably) -> fonts/colors/ -> and then put a link to links.php somewhere in your header template

Anyways... Ive got a Q, Is there a way to make it where i can use diffrent images on diffrent styles? Because the ones i have now, dont match with all the styles i have... So id like to have custom ones for each one...

Anyone know if these instructions are still golden with v2.2.0? It ran great for me under 2.03, BTW ... just upgraded and this is really the last hack left for me to work back in.

Installing the hack using the upgrade option worked fine with 2.2.0, but I couldn't find step 3 in admin/misc.php and step of of admin/index.php for the moment- so I couldn't alter the settings... but it works.

the part in admin/misc.php only changes update user titles to update user titles and stars so that isn't really needed.

I took a look at the hack's instructions and compared it to the 2.2.0 index file and it appears some of the functions have changed.

I have attached a file that has instructions for getting Tubedogg's Stars hack to work with 2.2.0

I have it works perfectly on my 2.2 board. Note that if you follow instruction as 2.0.3, there is a serious missing error in register.php, and that's the md5 password encrypt missing in 2.2.0. Without md5 in register.php, your members will NOT be able to log back on once they logged out. It took me 2 whole days to firgue it out.

that looks like some sort of formatting mark to me (same as the 'paragraph mark 2 lines above that...

what software are you using?

also, that doesn't look like anything that is related to the stars hack code, the original code that tubedogg gave you is for 2.0.3 and is in need of updating for 2.2.0 so look closely when you install it, if you need help getting the code to work, send me your file (preferably as it is before you add any star code) and I can see about giving you a hand.

Cant get it to work :( I have installed and reinstalled and then installed again.
All seems ok but stars fail to show.

you can do this without using a hack. under the "User Titles" section of the control panel you can specify user title according to post count. you can fudge this a big and add an image along with the title or just the image alone. in the title field just put <img src="{imagesfolder}/image.gif"> and that image will now appear under a registered member's name if they have x number of posts. unfortunately this post ladder system only works with the regular 'Registered' user group right now... so if you wanted to do this with mods, admins, etc you would need to hack the code which i don't know how to do.

Not so. I have the hack installed and it works for all user groups, including admins and mods. Titles are taken from the user group table, and stars are taken from the post count.

If your talking about altering the stars and post counts for stars, if you have the hack installed right there should be a User Stars catagory in your admin control panel.

I am reattaching the instructions for 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 since the other post is a few pages back now.
