They probably just aren't seein the link, but it is there. Perhaps it should have been put in a more visible place and/or in a couple different locations.

VargTimmen 05-20-2008 07:39 AM

Great Mod!
But how can I change the settings and where I have to upload the ger language .xml?
It's my first Mod, so I don't know anything :)

I'm very happy with this Addon, the Forum is using already like crazy!

It would be nice to have a symbol in the overview of the social Groups, if in this Group a social Forum is existing. Klicking this symbol will link to the Social Forum.
Can you include this?

Thanks a lot!

edenx 05-20-2008 02:31 PM

Would be nice if group owner can define moderators for group forum

mokonzi 05-20-2008 04:25 PM

Does this add the moderator to the moderators group, or can it be selected which group they go to?

droid101 05-20-2008 10:17 PM

So what is the option "Visibility of social forums"?

Quote:

Should they be visible by default? If yes, forum's visibility is set to the value of the group id.
So... what does this mean? If yes, everyone can see the forum? If no, only members can see it? Only members of the group, or only members of the board?

Baldilocks 05-21-2008 12:39 AM

Where would I got to make "Visit groups Forum" larger and more visible??

The creation of the forum is a one time thing, why should it be on different places?

- AdminCP/Einstellungen, SocialForums
- Sprache hochladen, use the existing language and choose "?berschreiben"

Ice794 05-22-2008 09:09 AM

Looks fantastic and is everything I've been looking for!

Can't wait until Private Groups Forums' are protected. Will install after that ;)

mokonzi 05-22-2008 11:13 AM

Thanks for the update Phalynx. It's what I'm looking for, for sure.

tei727 05-22-2008 12:12 PM

Baldilocks 05-22-2008 01:00 PM

I had the same problem. Go into forum manager and click on the forum that is connected to your social group and look at the default view age. You need to set that to what you want.

So, everyone can see the forum regardless of the selection for this option?

What does this option do, then?

Phalynx 05-22-2008 06:09 PM

It just hides the forum from beeing displayed in forumslist. But who knows the Forum ID can still access it.

Phalynx 05-23-2008 12:43 PM

A new version has been released. It introduces the long awaited permissions for moderated/invite only socialgroups.

Changelog 1.3.0:
- Added: Private groups: Link to forum only shown to members of group
- Added: Permissions are now active. This includes read/write public and private (moderated/invite only) socialforums and creation of forum. Please check permissions for every usergroup! As this needs two additional queries on every page you can disable this.
- Added: Checks for permission before a creation link will be displayed
- Changed: Default View Age set to "Show all Threads"

How to upgrade:
1. Upload bitfield_socialforums.xml to existing folder /includes/xml/
2. Upgrade: Uninstall existing version, import the product. No forums get lost!
3. Check settings, especially for parent forum

Galeon 05-23-2008 12:46 PM

Thank you!

uae-style 05-23-2008 12:56 PM

thank you..

why admins can NOT post in groups forums?

Phalynx 05-23-2008 12:58 PM

You will have to set corresponding permission for the admin group.

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 01:05 PM

This added all kinda of errors. Uninstalled.

uae-style 05-23-2008 01:17 PM

installed the update..can post now..
thank you :D

mokonzi 05-23-2008 01:28 PM

Does this mean that now the forum isn't viewable to the general public in a 'private' group setting?

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 01:43 PM

It's still viewable and postable. Didn't change anything.

Shill360 05-23-2008 01:44 PM

I had a lot of cookie errors after installing the update. Not good i'm afraid. I have reverted back to the old one now.

Shill360 05-23-2008 01:49 PM

This is the errors I am getting when now logged out of the forum

Warning: array_diff() [function.array-diff]: Argument #2 is not an array in [path]/global.php(365) : eval()'d code on line 247

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/global.php(365) : eval()'d code on line 247

Shill360 05-23-2008 02:04 PM

As soon as I uninstall and revert back to the old social forums the errors dissapear. It has something to do with cookies as that is the vbulletin message I am getting when trying to log in. I have to refresh the page when trying to log in to actually log me in.

Hope that helps for troubleshooting this great product.

intekhosting 05-23-2008 04:03 PM

I get a similar error but it only affects users of Internet Explorer. Firefox seems to be fine.
Have reverted back to previous version and will watch for updates.
Really nice feature!!

i156 05-23-2008 04:28 PM

I've installed it but don't see any links to create a forum.

http://www.usacarry.com/forums/groups/glock-owners.html

civil78 05-23-2008 04:36 PM

If you get this message “Unable to add cookies, header already sent.” and you can log in the admin panel you can add this code into config.php

PHP Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

And go to make the changes or uninstall.

With a little research, it looks like a problem in the 2nd plug in with name (it have 2 plugins with the same name)

SocialForums (cache_templates) (the one is with 7 line code and the other is bigger)

So in the bigger with the same name of smaller, it has a loop.

PHP Code:

foreach(array_diff($agetforumids$agetuserforumids) AS $sf_forumid)
{
...
...

This looks affect in this problem.

I don’t know how important is this plugin but if you disable it there no problem appears.

We have to wait until Phalynx correct this little problem ;)

Jase2 05-23-2008 04:52 PM

Hmm, won't this make the admin see a lot of forums on forumhome? It would get very big, I guess.

Nadiar 05-23-2008 06:10 PM

What happens if a social group isn't used very often anymore and you want to delete it (clean it up) or if you want to take one of the social group forums and make it into a full forum?

Phalynx 05-23-2008 06:15 PM

I just uploaded a corrected 1.3.1
The version number didn't changed, I just reuploaded all files and named the ZIP 131.

Please import the product, overwrite existing.

Sorry for this confusing error.

psypix 05-23-2008 06:26 PM

Thank you!! :D

Jase2 05-23-2008 06:27 PM

So, won't there will be a lot of forums if it's used a lot ? The admin would get confused from his actual forums.

Great job, Phalynx!

I have noticed some unexpected behavior (may be a feature, not a bug):

At http://www.example.com/forum/group.php, if I click on "Go to the last posted message" icon for the invite-only social forum I'm not a member of, I get to the group description page. Shouldn't I get to the "Access not allowed" page instead?

Check if your usergroup is allowed to create a forum.

The forums are created as subforums. Additionally you can set their visibility to 0.

The forum is not touched by deleting a group. It's just a simple vBulletin forum, nothing special.

This is not a "feature" or bug of SocialForums. vBulletin does not check the permission for that. It's like someone protects his forum with display=0...
