Why does the chat box remove the color from a previous shout and do this to it...(see attached)...

Also...

If you're getting ready to type a chat line...select a color...click inside the chat box to start typing a message...the color reverts back to black.

Are these issues being addressed?

Uninstalled...too many bugs...will look for something better.

How can we make it so HTML symbols work in chatbox?

The included attachment says it all...

When you are entering messages...the new message is on top...but the previous message isn't parsing correctly. You can see the BBCode.

It just saves you the trouble of having to type out your username when you want to refer to yourself in the "third person"...for example:

[high][/high]

I see what's the problem but have no idea what causes that.

What versions of vBulletin and PHP are using?

If you want create temp Admin account for me so I can check this and try to fix it.

Thanks for the offer, but because I couldn't find a more stable Chatbox mod, I uninstalled your product.

I've looked at all the Chatbox mods submitted here...and found one more suited for my needs. I won't mention it here...

Anyway...thank you for offering to help.

BTW...not that it makes a differnece now...but...3.6.8 PL2...PHP version 4.4.2...

BTW...you may want to find out from your users if they are using any mod that affects the way BBCode is parsed...these may be causing the issue I was describing earlier...

That might be the problem

Then I'd have to tell my host to upgrade...and I'm sure they will. However...why would the issue be with what version of PHP I'm using...since the problem is clearly a parsing or coding problem.

If the first shout within the chat box is correctly parsed...then it should stand to reason all the other shouts would be correctly parsed...unless there's a conflicting mod...or a coding problem within the mod itself.

I found one mod that was conflicting with the BB Code parsing of the RSS feed created by my external.php page...and have since disabled it. It has fixed that problem and may have been the cause of this problem...but I'll never know since I've decided to use a different chat system. This one is too new and needs a little more stability and tweaking before I would install or recommend it again.

There are several chat box mods out there...but as it stands now...only one I would truly recommend, but will not do it here...I'll let the users find it and decide for themselves...

first of all, thank you very much for this great Hack. I have one suggestion. Could you implement the dynamic replacement variables per style? Because it's quite hard to read the usernames if you have a dark and a bright skin. With the replacement variables I can just change the colors.

Hey Cyb thanks for the great mod, but i just wonder how much query does it add ? Cause i had inferno shoutbox, before and i took it out because it adds a lot of queries this causing database error on the server.

I've read through the threads and am having problems trying to allow Unregistered Users posting privledges in the ChatBox. Perhaps I'm just missing something or it's not possible?

I have these options blank in the Admin Options:
Usergroups NOT able to view ChatBox (comma separated ID list)
Users banned from ChatBox (comma separated UserID list)
Usergroups able to view ChatBox but not post messages

Great mod, within moments of it going up, it was becoming flooded with messages from members.

Works really well, and love the idea of being able to display the Chatbox on a page of its own.

Was just wondering, is there any way to ban certain vB codes from being used in the Chatbox, such as image tags?

Wondering if you can get the smilies section on chat box to integrate with favorite smilies mod or upload able smilies for users mod. When either one of these mods are installed or both neither one show up in chatbox to be able to be selected. Just a small thing. Mod is great I love it members love it.

I love it and if to much bandwidth should upgrade service. You talking about 5$ a month if that. Tell peeps to donate and your all good :)

It's the cost of AJAX.

Things which can save some bandwidth:
-disable auto-refresh for guests, or exclude them from viewing CB completely
-increase auto-refresh intervals
-you may also want to block some other groups and leave CB available to some special groups/extra posters/Donors/VIPs only

I go with evolans and I am on the 20GB package now. The next package up is another $50 a year.

Like I said $5 a month more ahah. Actually $4.17 a month more. Yeah don't allow guests to see it and limit it to only a special group of people. That is how I have mine set.
