Yes it works perfectly on 3.6.8 (at least to me :O)

Great hack!!!

Is there a way to remove the redirect to the member's profile, when they vote???

When you vote, it then sends you to their profile. It's kind of annoying..

other than that, I love it!

Ok I figured this out myself..

My members got tired of viewing a thread... Then they would give karma to a member. But it would not return them to the thread they were reading once they rated someone. It would kick them to their profile.

So what I did was edit karma.php

Find:

PHP Code:


		
			
$vbulletin->url = 'member.php?' . $vbulletin->session->var['sessionurl'] . "u=$userid";

And remove it, save the file and upload it..

It will now bring you back to the page you were viewing..

No problem. My members hated that it redirected them to the profile, and I was sure I wasn't alone. :D

(Along with some bugfixes).

I expect to start working on the next version in a few days, just after I finish another hack I'm developing for the past month (one that's only for my personal use). :)

The problem is:

With this pic (for example) one can say (specially in signatures):

Click here for X reason, maybe some "cool video" or who knows what, but on reality you are giving Karma to some person

With the previous you achieve just the opposite.

With this simple use, you can give or take karma from other people using "inconcent" p?ople to do the biding, meaning people who don't care about user X will be giving either good or bad karma... Also can be used to lift your own karma etc....

(within code randoms can't read it ^^)
Is going to be hard to fix this one :( sorry

Hi,

i have a user that i want participating in the karma system, but somehow he has managed to set his account so that he doesnt, how can i force his account to participate in the karma system?

I went and removed the karma section from the user profile, but he still has managed to make him self not participate. please help.

Edit* I found out that if the user sets himself to invisble, the karma system doesnt show for that user, and if and admin then sets the user back to visible, the karam system still doesnt show.

You can try. Most of the automatic template edits probably wont work though, you will have to do most of them yourself.

Is anyone having issues with the karma system being disabled for members??

I keep having to enable members via MySQL..

I'm running that latest version. I hoped 2.2.1 would fix it..

Also, I'm still having issues with it showing in the postbit. I have the hook in the right spot. Still nothing.

Is there a way to not use a hook? But maybe a way where we can use a variable like say "$karma"??

It's a great hack and my members love it.. I just have the two issues, and I can't figure them out..

OK, I just don't understand how the Controversy works. The system explanation is poorly described and my members (including myself) are inquiring about what it means. Every time I think I have a handle on how controversy works, I find that it works completely different from my theory.

So could someone explain it simply? If not, I'm uninstalling this mod and going back to rep.

Yeah this mod has become terrible...members can't use it, it doesn't even work with the latest version of vBulletin, it says it's not supported as well. So, yeah I'm uninstalling it

I really liked the idea behind this mods. It has the potential to be a nice alternative to reputation, but it just needs more work.

Installed, and works pretty good. In your product xml file you have the neutral icon being referenced from your website instead of where the user installs the mod, and the actual icon packaged in your zip doesnt match whats being called either.

This works on vB 3.7, Michelle, but I was only able to include the Karma table in the user's profile when placed in memberinfo (tried putting it in memberinfo_block_statistics, but nothing showed up). Any thoughts on where I can put this so that it displays in the profile, other than just dropping it into memberinfo?

Otherwise, a superb modification, as usual, Michelle. :) Can't wait to see what else you come out with :)

You've deleted "noexpression.gif" from your server and you have the template pointing to your server for that image. Anyway you can post it here so I can upload it to my site and change the image location in the template....

I haven't looked vb3.7's code/templates so far, so I can't be certain.

It is not completely clear for me what advantages your karma hack have compared to the build-in reputation system? Also I agree with other users that it would be very useful to have some sort of announcement type for displaying users with top 10 karma.

Testing new install, and can't get the rating to go above 5. I even changed the default time from 3600 seconds to zero. What's wrong?
