@billspaintball, it was too late to put those features in this version but the next version of pro will have them

Will purchase Pro when that update is out.
Those two features are worth the $30 for me :)

PJSkiboy 05-30-2007 02:20 AM

Zero,

I've been using some of your mods for years and I've never donated to the cause. This is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Most of your mods over the years have been high quality and they've brought a lot of functionality and enjoyment to my boards.

I just purchased the Pro version of the shoutbox off of the Inferno Technologies website. You have more than earned the $30 purchase price on this one.

Thanks for all the hard work and I look forward to seeing more mods from you guys in the future. Thanks again.

So far this mod is great except for one moderate bug: The shoutbox works in all browsers except IE. In IE, you can only see the top line or so of text. See the attached screenshot for what I mean. Any ideas what would cause this or how to fix it?

Thanks!

Matt

CNBAforo 05-30-2007 04:53 AM

Great add-on! Worth the 30 and much more! And my users love it, and all the new features!

Hornstar 05-30-2007 05:45 AM

people using it so far, do you find it more or less server intensive then the old vbshout flatfile version?

About the same, maybe less.

Hornstar 05-30-2007 06:17 AM

I would like in the pro version the option to be able to choose where to place the notice:, top or bottom of shoutbox.

IMO i like the newest shouts at the bottom, with the editor at the bottom, but have the notice at the top.

edit: how do i make the default font size bigger, because it is small and people are complaining on my site (pro)

Also the links are working, but could you make a feature in the pro version to have an option to enable an option if you are using vbseo, so it will dispaly seo urls in the shoutbox.

edit: I would also like to have the option to be able to give certain staff certain commands.
I would also like to be able to see logs of who is banned, ignored etc. and by who.

edit: if you idle out, i would like clicking the shoutbox button to refresh you in again.

Thanks.

ssandgirls 05-30-2007 06:59 AM

Just reading about the Pro version on the Inferno site........ It sounds great....... Thankyou :)

Hornstar 05-30-2007 07:07 AM

also the password dont work for the pro version to the premium support. thanks.

BozzaJos 05-30-2007 07:24 AM

I really would like to buy it but I need to know if there will be a vbadvanced cmps option in the future? At this moment I have vbshout 2.1 running in a module and it looks so sweet on my site.

P.S. If I buy pro now and installed it, will it appear on my home site which uses vbadvanced? Or only on the forum pages?

Inferno Tech 05-30-2007 08:12 AM

hornstar, try using a different browser. For some reason people have been reporting having trouble with using firefox to access it.

Post your questions about the paid version in there please, PM me if you are still having trouble getting access :)

In where lol? I really wanna purchase the pro version but I just need to know if the vbadvanced option will be added in the future... otherwise I won't purchase it so it's kinda important hehe.

*EDIT*

To show you what I mean please check my site, FMFormation.net.

You can see that my current shoutbox is between the 2 columns in the centre module. If that feature isn't available, I have to place it above my modules which means my whole site gets pulled down a bit and that just doesnt look nice.

Hornstar 05-30-2007 09:44 AM

^ he was referring to me, for you, posting your question here is fine. He will reply to it shortly most likely.

I have now got access through IE to the premium support forums, posted my suggestions features etc.
Thanks.

Same here, but I run a fairly small forum, 100 active members or less.

Inferno Tech 05-30-2007 11:43 AM

We'll look into adding vbadvanced compatability, but it would be wrong of me to promise anything, then for it to turn out that we can't do it.

It'll certainly be attempted though :)

- Iain

BozzaJos 05-30-2007 12:13 PM

Ok thanks Inferno. I guess it should be doable since someone else has already done it for vbshout 2.0 and 2.1 (and he wasnt even the creator of the shoutbox hehe).

It would be great for me to see the vba option and it would also be great for you guys coz it will earn you at least $30 hehe.

BozzaJos 05-30-2007 02:02 PM

Something else, at the options of vbshout, I can goto Page Deployment. It's automaticly set at index and I've added it to Forumhome template. When I do it adds it to my forum page (which is named forum.php). Is it perhaps possible to add it to my index.php file (which is vbadvanced). What is the script name of that one? And how can I check which script which page is?

All vB scripts has a define "THIS_SCRIPT" (define('THIS_SCRIPT', '<name>');) on the php that shows the name of the script.

BozzaJos 05-30-2007 07:23 PM

Thanks kekekian!

I tried to add it on the vbadvanced page but it didnt look nice. I really hope you guys can make a vbadvanced add-on for pro soon.

PJSkiboy 05-31-2007 12:46 AM

Would be interesting to be able to generate some kind of achive file that could either be printed or posted in a thread somewhere on your forums with the days shouts.

Desi-Home 05-31-2007 10:01 AM

can anybody tell me how to clear the shoutbox?? im confused..

Inferno Tech 05-31-2007 10:26 AM

wolfe 05-31-2007 12:06 PM

is it possible to put the shoutbox on the side of the page like on the vbadvance page

telonero 05-31-2007 07:36 PM

This is the 3rd chatbox/shoutbox I've tried and it appears to be the most practical for my needs. There are however a few features I'd really like to see added in upcoming releases if possible:

- Allow to have the input window below the shouts, but have the shouts ordered by "Most recent chat at the bottom". ie, the opposite to the way it works now.

- Allow toggle of date/time.

- Allow users to edit and/or delete their shouts. (This is the most common question users ask me.)

- A shout archive with a auto-prune setting. (Like only retain shouts X day's old)...

Then I would call it the perfect shoutbox! :)

I agree with you.. those would be nice :D

Inferno Tech 06-01-2007 02:36 AM

In the pro version a few of those requested features are already available.

You can reverse the order shouts appear, and users can edit their own shouts

There hasnt really been much demand to toggle the timestamps, or for an auto prune (since its so easy to prune just now, any allowed UG can just type /prune) But we'll consider putting them in future versions :)

actually i requested the timestamp feature in the pro section. I would like my members in their usercp to have the option of turning on/off the timestamp for the shoutbox.

some users like it, some don't

Thanks,

Vizionz 06-01-2007 09:53 AM

the pro version is awesome thanks Inferno team (specially zt)

impati3nt 06-01-2007 10:46 PM

Is the pro version ioncubed or zended or just not decoded?

PSDPlayer 06-02-2007 02:22 AM

Am I imagining things or does the lite version of the shoutbox seem to stop ajaxing when you click out of the IE window that its running in? I have a multimonitor setup on my machine and while im on one screen doing something and have the vbulletin page on the other monitor the shoutbox stops adding shouts until I refresh the page. Is this how the server load is cut down?

Inferno Tech 06-02-2007 08:50 AM

There is an "idle" timeout, where if the window isnt opened for X time (configurable in the APC) It stops refreshing, to save server load. Posting a message will snap you out of it.

buileminh 06-02-2007 02:07 PM

This is much better than vBShout 2.1! You've done a GREAT work!
Can you add more commands :D I love your ban and unban command so much :)
How to limit how many shouts are displayed in the shoutbox?
Thanks!

goorgoor 06-02-2007 05:09 PM

i can't have any smilies on my shoutbox!

Inferno Tech 06-02-2007 07:54 PM

Smilies are a pro version feature

BozzaJos 06-02-2007 08:37 PM

Will it be announced if there has been a pro version update? I would like to know when/if the vbadvanced feature has been added. I've noticed a couple of other chat-/shoutboxes and all of them got a vbadvanced feature. A lot of people are using vbadvanced and it's nice to put the shoutbox in a module so it intergrates perfectly into your website.

Sparkie123 06-02-2007 08:55 PM

Can anyone comment on server loading of the lite version?

Is there an option to change the refresh time to reduce server loading?

The reason I ask this is that I had to remove previous versions of shoutbox at the request of my host due to excessive server loading :(
