I prefer the following:

1) Language file support
2) Nicer layout/ design (checkout yahoo's messenger: http://tinyurl.com/2o3yzc)
3) Smilies not to show up more than once

Other than that... the chat rocks!

bolly.beats 05-03-2007 03:46 PM

I have Installed your new version, but still in the Admin Pannel it shows 2.9.2. Why is that so?

Have given the attachment too. Also I want to ask few questions:

1) Can we have the The color codes of usergroup in the Room also? Because it becomes tough to recognize admins and mods for members, so you know they spam n give us pain.:mad:

2) Can we delete a single message [spam/bad words] in the chat room?:erm:

3) How to Display smiles in more then 1 line? [all the smiles streches the page and appears in single line]:erm:

Hope to have your reply soon. :up:

I would also like the first idea which you have so people can quickly know who are admins or mods on the chat.

That's what I was going to suggest to Tim last night about having that feature as well. I hope it'll be implemented anytime soon!

Pirate45 05-03-2007 07:12 PM

The demo doesn't seem to work. Where can I see this?

redtaz 05-03-2007 07:23 PM

I have a suggestion. OK in javachat you can set a message which will always show up once someone enters the chat is there anyway that we can do that with vbChat? So we like type in a message and that message is automatically showed whenever someone joins the chat? I also have another suggestion i see that when someone is in the chat and if you go to view whos online it doesnt show them as if they were in the chat it simply says there viewing the index. Can you set it so that when someone is in the chat and if you go view the whos online it says there in the chat?

Fungsten 05-03-2007 07:37 PM

folder. Should that also be uploaded too? Thanks.

Romeos Tune 05-03-2007 08:23 PM

Suggestion:

Can we make something so that users can use a custom chat avatar or of course there's from the forums and it shows up to the left of their names in chat? That is one thing that my users want so bad. Heck, if you can get that implemented with usergroup control I'd be glad to donate more than 25.00.

Nimrod. 05-03-2007 08:25 PM

I currently have vbShout on my board and I dont like it. I am wanting to use this mod, but I was wondeing if it goes where vbShout is loveted, or a diffrent page?

Also, since I am wanting to replace this with vbShout, is it able to just have one chatroom and stay up all of the time without ever having to be closed out or stoped?

I've been keeping up with this mod ever since I stumbled upon it at version 2.5 and it seems that it has come a long way. Im glad to see the adware situation fixed.

Great mod and hope to instal it soon!

Mastar 05-03-2007 09:31 PM

I would like to be able to delete certain messages like on chatbox and have pages also. Is that possible or is it planned for the future?
Thanks!

United32 05-03-2007 09:35 PM

How can we edit our own messages? Or edit messages from our members?

Dream 05-03-2007 09:41 PM

You gonna make extremetim crazy with all these suggestions :p

Can someone tell me if Adsense was removed, and what was put in its place?

edit: nevermind the info was in the first post

What's the auto-refresh of this mod set to?

eXtremeTim 05-03-2007 10:28 PM

Right now its set to either 1.5 or 2 seconds. I will be playing with it soon and for the minichat addon its 10seconds and 60 seconds for guests.

Dont forget to take a look at our suggestions which are on the page before this page ;)

Hello,
it's a wonderful hack.

I already said to Tim: i upgrade to this version and now i have 2 box in admincp [ EWT vBChat and vBChat], but this is a minor thing.

A suggestion: maybe it's useful, when a user send a private chat /mp, apperars a little pop-up alerting that the user receive a private msg in vBChat.

All the best

Ok... I've gotta ask because I've gotta ask...

I installed your mod. I don't like the banner at the bottom. Of course you deserve the credit for putting this all together, so a copyright of some sort would be expected.

My question is this, and I'm not trying to sound rude or anything... Why would I choose your mod for $15.00 over the Flashchat mod for $5.00?

It's possible that you have a very legitimate reason, and it's possible that this is just a helluva a better system. I'm just wondering with no ill intentions behind my question.

Fungsten 05-04-2007 12:48 AM

into it, it sends me to the default room occasionally. Is there any reason for this? I also noticed that there are duplicate smilies. Thanks.

This mod is more server friendly then flashchat and also has better vbulletin integration.

Ted Clore 05-04-2007 01:33 PM

OK, I installed. But have problems.

Shows up as an installed product. Is in the CP and vBulletin Options. Is on the lists up by the Calendar on the main menu in the Forums.

But when I click to open the Mod, I get an error message #HTTP 404 on a blank page that starts up.

Hmmm...

Any suggestions?

eXtremeTim 05-04-2007 01:38 PM

Make sure if you are using vba cmps that you use the fullpath to the file on your server http://www.blah.com/blah/chat.php

The "X Enters the Room" & "X Leaves The Room" has been removed in the current version since it wasn't functioning pretty well though it'll be back in the next release which is v2.9.4 or v3.0).

As for the chat being displayed in who's online, it was disabled by default for several reasons, however if you wanna have that feature to work again, open up the "chat.php" file using a text editor and comment out the line where it says "define('LOCATION_BYPASS', 1);" so it would like like this:

Quote:

// ---------------------------------------------------
// Start Define Important Constants
// ---------------------------------------------------
define('NO_REGISTER_GLOBALS', 1);
define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'vbchat');
// define('LOCATION_BYPASS', 1);

Uh no, the .bak files aren't needed to be uploaded as they are just "backup" files in case you've corrupted or messed up with any of the files in the pack.

That doesn't sound such a bad idea to me after all. :)

It opens as a popup page in a new window so yeah. In v3.0, you can choose your own method, whether to open it as a popup, current window, new window, etc. and adjust its width and height of the chat room. Yes, as you may know already, the "Default Room" is permanent so it can never be closed, pruned, stopped or any of that. If you would like to have a room as permanent where it should never closes and pruned, just set the "Room Permanent" option to "Yes" while creating a new room.

I don't believe you can do that already as it's not necessary, but if you would like to delete and prune your and other member's messages, use the "Prune Option" feature of the Admin CP section.

This hack has now reached the stages where it has gone professional. I hope to release a lite version here later on. For support of this hack please visit my site.

Woot thats great to know! And what would be the difference in the lite version?

eXtremeTim 05-04-2007 03:18 PM

Less features as I release updates. Better support. This hack has over the last few weeks become my baby and I dont think $15 is to much to ask for it. Plus you will get priority support with the pro version while if and when I release a lite version its doubtful it will be supported.

Uhm why the zip file was removed?

Nimrod. 05-04-2007 03:36 PM

Damn, I should have downloaded the zip yesterday. Does anyone still have it? I would still like to try it out before buying it.

Removing hack from my site.

Paul M 05-06-2007 12:51 PM

This thread has been restored for the author to release the lite version.

Strafe 05-06-2007 01:30 PM

Thats really sad. I was hoping to try this program and it appears I'm a few days late to get a download. Anyone care to share the file to me? Just drop me a PM.

eXtremeTim 05-06-2007 02:03 PM

Lite version released.

redtaz 05-06-2007 04:50 PM

What does the lite version have thats different?

eXtremeTim 05-06-2007 05:08 PM

Right now its the same but with the ads and stuff. But im hard at work on v3 and will start possible releasing some early beta's of it soon for people to look at who have purchased the pro version. This version wont be getting many updates from here on out while the pro version already has a new ajax system that im ready to implement in v 2.9.5 which will be a step towards v3.

The new ajax I have made so far for v3 will allow almost 500% more load in the chat before it taxes the server to the same point as the current lite version. So I hope to get that released in the next 24 hours or so and then get full force into v3 which is a completely new set of code behind everything and stemming over to a more powerful and flexible system.

I plan to have a early stable release of v3 ready in the next 5-7 days if not less which will consist of a much faster core engine with a limit amt of features available at first but should push the capabilities of this chat well past that of flashchat and most other chats for server loads.

The professional version also gets priority support.

Romeos Tune 05-06-2007 06:52 PM

What about the addition of avatars to chat and the ability to turn it off and on... I mean custom avatars that will be pulled off of vbulletin. Have you thought about that suggestion yet?

Fungsten 05-06-2007 08:57 PM

BTW, the way I updated it was to reload the product and overwrite. I hope that's all I had to do. Thanks.

Dermo-MIO 05-06-2007 08:58 PM

does this work on vb 3.6.4 ?

Yes...... at least it does on my site.

Strafe 05-07-2007 12:53 AM

I suggest not overpricing the software. Make it $5 so you can compete with Flashchat. A lot of people will eventually buy it at that price and you'd break even faster.
