Thanks.. where/what is the product manager?

Edit Never mind -- found it. Thanks.

ComputerVitals 10-23-2006 03:34 AM

Interesting... I've been doing a lot of reading.

Some say SEO is the way to go!
But I also heard this doesn't matter..
Either way I installed and will give it a go.

My next question..

Any plans on trying to make this work with vBAdvanced?

i second that request! It would be great :)

sitemaps arent gonna do anything for a forum that already has all its pages linked anyway

aceofspades 10-25-2006 10:59 PM

Hi guys,

First of all, i installed your seo on my last forum and it was super! Unfortunatly this time i seem to be having a problem. When i installed zoints SEO and turned it on, i noticed all of my images were missing and that none on my urls worked.

After looking into it i found out it was missing the forum directory in each url and so it wasnt finding the images / going to the forum or thread, for example it would go to this url:

http://www.myforum.com/forumdisplay....stions-10.html

But the forum isnt in the root, its in the forums folder so it should be this:

http://www.myforum.com/forums/forumd...stions-10.html

If i add the forum directory to the url it works perfectly, but i can only do that manually. How can i tell zoints SEO that my forum isnt root its in the forums folder and that it needs to be adding /forums to each url it optimises. Also, when doing the mod rewrite, do i add the lines to the htaccess in my forums folder or the one in my websites root?

Many thanks for any help you can give!

James

aceofspades 10-26-2006 03:15 PM

O i have just realised this doesnt work with vb gallery :(

*uninstalled*

phlogiston 10-26-2006 03:20 PM

"Incompatibility with vBA Gallery"

can I just check that all this means is it doesn't rewrite the urls of gallery & image links?
as I have no problems at all running Zoints SEO on a site with vBGallery :S

Make Money? 10-26-2006 03:33 PM

We get a lot of referals from Google - and have an excellent Google Archive presence will this disturb that?

Thanks

Make Money? 10-26-2006 03:42 PM

Is it only for new posts at the time of posting?

Or can past threads be tagged retospectivly?

Also using the moderator tools will I be able to mass tag stuff?

Thanks!

Make Money? 10-26-2006 03:44 PM

We swiched it on in the admin area but cant see any evidence of it out on the forum...???

aceofspades 10-26-2006 04:30 PM

When i said vb gallery i was referring to the vb intergrated photopost. It rewrites the urls, for example it changes the directory /gallery to /forums and so none of the images are their and none of the links work. I use the gallery so much that i cant not use it so that i can use zoints seo.

Mr.Haze 10-26-2006 08:32 PM

Hi,
I just installed Zoints SEO and it's brilliant, installed fine, does exactly what I want. But the only problem is I already had vBadvanced installed, which I also like. Is there any way to make the vBadvanced homepage use the Zoints "friendly" SEO urls?
Thanks!

Neil

Mr.Haze 10-26-2006 08:41 PM

Also my "All" links don't work:
Normal: http://www.head-nod.com/video-club-f7/index.html
ALL: http://www.head-nod.com/forumdisplay...ll7/index.html

maxicep 10-29-2006 07:48 PM

hi,
my host yahoo dont give permission to create file start with (.),(-)
like .htaccess

i want to make vRewrite for Seoed Urls

What can i do now ?

rogersnm 10-29-2006 07:50 PM

a) Switch to a better host.
b) Don't use mod_rewrite - turn it off in vB Options and don't bother with the .htaccess file.

I'm pretty certain I've figured out why I haven't experienced problems with vBGallery (and other addons) while using Zoints SEO - I have vBa CMPS wrapped around everything and forums in root dir = not standard.

So I worked out a possible fix.
If anyone wants to try this (without guarantee!) to get Zoints SEO working on sites with photopost's vBGallery (may also solve the incompatibility with vBadvanced Links Directory) I'm fairly/quite confident it may work. (I apologise for the vagueness but I don't have good test installs at present :()

in the "Zoints SEO" plugin at parse_templates (on line #1),
originally (Zoints SEO v 2.2.2) it should be
PHP Code:

if ($vbulletin->options['zointsseo_on'] AND $vbulletin->options['zointsseo_rewrite_urls'] AND VB_AREA == 'Forum' AND !defined('VBA_PORTAL'))

change VBA_PORTAL to VBA_SCRIPT,
ie REPLACE line#1 with
PHP Code:

if ($vbulletin->options['zointsseo_on'] AND $vbulletin->options['zointsseo_rewrite_urls'] AND VB_AREA == 'Forum' AND !defined('VBA_SCRIPT'))

this should prevent the <base href=""> tag being added to the header which I think was the problem.

Again, apologies for the lack of testing of this before offering it as a possible solution.

MrLeN 10-30-2006 06:38 AM

I installed Zoints SEO, but it started causing conflicts with other software that I am using with the forums and unfortunately, I had to remove it. I came here for instructions how to remove it and I was told to use the uninstall via the product manager and remove the files from the installation.

I did this, but I am still getting database errors in my email. It says:

Quote:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.2:

Invalid SQL:

SELECT linkid, name, links.catid, userid, username, dateline, links.lastpostdateline, title
FROM wgreen_adv_links AS links
LEFT JOIN wgreen_adv_links_categories AS categories USING (catid)
WHERE links.dateline > 1162098001 AND suspended = 0 AND valid = 1;

MySQL Error : Column: 'valid' in where clause is ambiguous
Error Number : 1052

Referrer : http://www.mysite.com/community/
IP Address : 211.28.xxx.xxx

Classname : vb_database
How can I repair my vBulletin database to get it working without errors, before the Zoints SEO installation altered it? Or, what did Zoints SEO do to alter my database?

Any advice/direction appreciated.

rogersnm 10-30-2006 03:48 PM

Run every cron job until you find the one that errors. And then tell me which product it is for. It looks like Advanced Navbars.

Hoffi 10-31-2006 06:58 AM

Did you use the vbAdvanced Linkdirectory or something similar?
The Tables are not vBulletin Standard oder ZOINTS related.

gsm4arab1 10-31-2006 11:54 AM

Very wonderful zointsseo-2.2.2 I have installed on the site, but unfortunately became servers Special me very slow and very high

Server Load 4.78 (4 cpus)

Is there a solution to the lack of high Load server

thanks ......................

Problem with mod rewrite. I added the code to the .htaccess and uploaded it. I click enable mod rewrite. Now when you visit the categories I get the page can not be found what am I doing wrong?

This how I added the code...

Quote:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|\.css) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ $1/index.php/$2 [QSA,L]

cool :D

I've been doing some more prodding at the code to see if it's extendable to rewriting the vBGallery urls, so far it looks doable. Not quite at a usable stage yet,
although www.spoiltcat.com/julian_cope-i1444.html is much prettier than unrewritten www.spoiltcat.com/photos/showimage.php?i=1444 !!

A vbgooglemap fix?

Those of you who have had trouble with vbgooglemap, please give this fix a shot and see if it works for you and report back. Thanks :)

Nice! Can others confirm if this is working for them?

Keep this up and we'll need to create a phlogiston SEO fork

Well, that rules me out :) I want the plugin to take care of things and not having to educate myself first .. if I am educated on this ..... I didn't need the plugin :p

corsacant 11-03-2006 09:27 PM

Hi, I have just installed the Googlemap addon and the zoints seo stops it from working properly. Is there any way in which I could exclude the googlemap page from the zoints seo url re-writes?
Or is there any other fix?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that, I'm not sure where I am meant top edit though. There is no part in the plugin manager that allows me to edit that bit. I've searched for it but can't find it.

Be patient, take a step back, see if the community develops it. If not, you're better off with your default forum setup.

I agree fully - looks like sitting and waiting does not solve problem of zero users on the site ;)

I am abserving your piece of software very carefully. Since I am operating two really BIG forums (+2.000.000 posts each) vBSEO does not work for me. Simply mod_rewrite with over 2500 users online can kill each and every server on this world. I bought vBSEO, tried it, killed all my 5 servers in 30 seconds and got my mony back after a week of fighting with code optimisation.

That's why I like your soft - it does not want to kill my machines by overusing mod_rewrite ;)

First problem - it is for 3.6.1, while I have 3.6.2 installed. :(
Second problem - php 4.x.x compliance?
Third problem - necessity to recrawl the whole site (aprox. 4.000.000 of pages per site!)
Last questio-problem - if I will join the Zoint Network, do you give me some support?

Regards
Tom

This how I added the code...

Your server doesn't seem to have mod_rewrite installed.

I'm not going to try and talk you into using Zoints SEO because I don't think you should use it. My suggestion is to wait for someone (or us) to tear apart Zoints SEO and provide the useful plugins as separate installs. Then pick and choose which you feel would benefit your forum. I'm a Big-Board owner myself and know all too well the special issues you have to deal with. Stick with your default url schema. mod-rewrite and keyword-in-url.html are overhyped and can do more harm than good.

As for joining the Zoints Network, at present, we're closed to new forums. However, that will soon change...

rogersnm 11-05-2006 11:35 AM

Hey Guys,

How many people want a sitemap generator for Zoints SEO? If the demand is great enough i'll release mine if that's ok with David.

Regards,
Nick.

EDIT: I also got custom rewrite rules worked out :)
