Installed. I like the whitelist idea! I'm running 3.6.7, so will wait on forum udpate for this one to be udpated unless others have it running on 3.6.8

Fungsten 08-07-2007 05:33 PM

I re-installed it on VB 3.6.8 since it wasn't working since the update. We shall see.

I have also seen this a few times with a certain user and I have also seen it show the same user 3 times like this..

Quote:
user1 seems to have multiple personalities using user1 and user1 and user1 sharing the same computer.
I also just had this...

Quote:
user1 seems to have multiple personalities using user2 and Admin and user1 sharing the same computer.
I know for a fact user1 did not login as Admin...lol

Add me to the list. I've seen a user reported under the same account multiple times "usera" is sharing an account with "usera." I've also seen a user reportedly sharing an account with a user who hasn't logged in for years (before I installed the mod). The only possibility I can think of is a corrupt cookie unless there is a bug or incompatibility (I'm using 3.6.5).

For instance, if I know for sure that user X and user Y login from the same computer but are different people (eg brothers), I will not want to put them in the whitelist, as each one of them might some day create a double account. So, I keep having new posts each time they login, which is quite annoying.
If that's difficult, what about just posting in the existing thread, instead of creating a new one, if the couple is the same?

This is an excellent suggestion as I don't want to completely whitelist a member either (but a pair/group would be fine).

It's not working for me ether on VB 3.6.8. Is it working after re-installation?

Yes. But I'm also getting this issue with one of my users:

Is there any plans for update MPDev?

MPDev 08-15-2007 02:46 PM

I am still on 3.67, so until I find the time to upgrade I won't be able to verify if there is a version specific issue.

firstrebel 08-16-2007 06:48 AM

I am on 3.6.8 and this works OK.

Bob

ozmazdaclub 08-16-2007 07:31 AM

mfyvie -> Just wondering if there has been any update with regards to BETA Testing. I have sent you a PM and an Email also.

mark99 08-16-2007 08:44 AM

I'll hold off installing this until MPDev has had a chance to check it out with vB3.6.8 but it looks like an excellent mod :) .

Lea Verou 08-16-2007 08:46 AM

I have 3.6.8 and it works fine

AdeptusAstartes 08-20-2007 06:12 PM

cynthetiq 08-20-2007 06:41 PM

Billie 08-20-2007 10:19 PM

Mine wasn't working since updating to 3.6.8 but I have reinstalled it tonight and it is now working fine with 3.6.8 :)

AdeptusAstartes 08-23-2007 08:31 PM

i dont know why but it messed up something in my forum so users and i couldnt login. i had to first disable all products by config.php and delete it. after that i enabled all products.

I'm on 3.6.7pl1 btw. I like the pairs/couples whitelisting idea, too

Are there any significant changes between 3.6.7 and 3.6.8 that would lead you to believe that this mod might not work? There should be no reason why this mod will not with future versions of VB, there is no need for MPDev to test it with every single new version before people install it.

I just wanted to make a comment about the pairs/couples whitelisting idea that has been suggested on this thread. In the forthcoming version I have decided not to implement this feature. Why not? There's no easy way to offer it via a user interface. The old (current) version exempts users by way of a list of userids in the vbulletin settings. However, this quickly becomes problematic if you have a big forum and big list. The forthcoming version exempts users via a field in their user record.

I can't think of any other way to implement the pair idea, without resorting to a manually entered list of userid pairs, which I decided not to do for the reasons listed above. Exemption of the users on an individual basis is the compromise.

I only said that because he said he would give it a test on the new version once he'd had a chance to upgrade and I'm in no rush so what does it matter? Some people have been reporting bugs since 3.6.8, just read the last couple of pages.

Neo_obs 09-01-2007 10:52 PM

For some reason the plugin stopped creating new posts. Not sure why either. Anyone have the same problem? It still PMs us correctly but no new posts anymore.

BTW we were on 3.5.7 and upgraded to 3.6.8 and still the same problem occurs so I doubt this is a problem with my version unless it only worked on versions before 3.5.7

Other than that it works (for PMs at least) on 3.6.8

CoreIssue 09-02-2007 01:50 PM

It stopped working for me on 3.6.7.

I reinstalled it but still does not work.

We had a known multiple login, today, nothing. No PM or post.

The only thing I know is that I reinstalled the product five times on 3.6.8 and tested it twenty, but it does NOT work for me at all.

MPDev 09-05-2007 12:35 PM

More than likely one of your other plugins may be interfering with this one. It's a solid product that has worked for a long time without needing any updates, I can't tell you why it doesn't work for you, but code is code and as long as nothing is interfering with it - it works.

Mine stopped when I went to 3.6.7.

No new plugins added. Same ones I have been running for a long time.

All I was doing was updating as I went.

I have two boards and it isn't working on either one.

This is true but:

It happened also the same thing to me.

Any way... This mod was one from the most "useful forum tools" but never mind...
If you could find a solution, it would be very much appreciated.

CoreIssue 09-05-2007 01:45 PM

Extremely useful.

AdeptusAstartes 09-06-2007 01:11 PM

MPDev 09-12-2007 07:51 PM

Bob

MPDev 09-14-2007 05:06 PM

I also upgraded to 3.68 and find it working as normal.

This is great! Works perfectly. :D

esck 09-29-2007 03:54 AM

is it possible that if a banned user triggers this, this new user gets banned also?

Yes, I've already built this feature (configurable as an option) into the next generation of this product (currently in beta, no release date set yet). It works like this: when a banned user is found on an existing cookie then if a new user signs up from the same machine they get instantly banned or suspended.

esck 10-01-2007 10:56 PM

awesome, thanks a lot mfyvie

sounds cool - can't wait for the update :D

This works flawlessly in my semi-modded 3.6.8. Thanks!

Oh, and the PM I received was hysterical!
