Hi,

Yes, this will work on all versions of vBulletin. It only uses a small amount of javascript to function.:D

Future versions will be specific to 3.6 and above.

The XEON version uses all new files, therefore if you need to remove the old vbMp3 Player just delete the files it used. The only file that is exactly the same is the flashobject.js, which is used for embedding the flash player correctly.:)

Thanks! :)

You will have much more functionality with playlists once I release the full integrated vBulletin version.

MissKalunji 10-07-2006 12:15 PM

is there a way to also add this on a non vb page?

Hi,

Details on how to do this has been added to the first post. All you do is edit the data fields in the XML files, changing the urls and titles only. There are other optional fields you can change, soundBuffer and streaming, these have a default value in the player itself, but you can override these values per track in the XML file (details in first post explain these parameters).

Hope that helps!
:)

Hi,

Yes, there is. However, it depends how you wish to add it to a non-vb page. Either by popup or embedding the whole player?

It does require code changes in both cases, if you would like these details I will document them for you, and send via PM.

Okay, I will PM you the details a little later, bit busy at the moment doing a couple of custom jobs for clients.

The pro version will be free, I never released this modification for profit from licensed vBulletin users. All the work I put into this mod, is mainly done during quiet times, when I don't have so much custom work from clients. At the moment this is hard since I have alot work, so its a case of squeezing it in when I have time.

Still, I get there in the end! That's what counts! :D

You shouldn't suffer database errors, because this modification does not use any database queries yet. It would need to be fully integrated within vBulletin to cause any database errors.

basilrath 10-07-2006 01:08 PM

impossible to have a DB problem at all..................works fine

Cool beans. My last question...

I told you before I had made several playlists for the old player... can I copy and paste the lines with the URL's into the new XEON playlist to combine them all into one playlist since the 50 track max bug is now fixed?

And thanks for a great product. I've been waiting for this new version. My members love the tunes. :D

I have updated the XEON package now to resolve that size issue. I had inserted the dimensions for the javascript popup incorrectly.

XML files can be edited in Notepad, Wordpad or any text document editing software. [high]Note: do not use anything like MS Word as this will add unwanted code that will cause problems.[/high].

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Yes, you can.. The playlist XML file format hasn't been changed at all, so everything will work fine.

The only problem I had with playlist switching was coding the player to flip through unlimited lists. The player was refusing to unload and load new XML files. I will be 'fixing' this very soon.

:)

Excellent! And it's convenient that you have 5 playlists in the new version, and I had made 5 playlists for the old player. That way I can keep the music in categories. SWEEEEEEET!!! Thanks again...off to upgrade. :D

Probably a silly question, and perhaps one that has been asked already. I read the thread but may have missed it so I apologize if it is actually already out there.

Now, the question:

Is it going to be possible in the Pro player to have the playlists have titles instead of numbers?

BTW - this addition is awesome. Thanks for it.

Gripemaster 10-07-2006 02:38 PM

I'm getting this error when I click on the navbar link:

Warning!!! To view the Xeon vbMp3 player system enable JavaScript and Flash!

I have all of that enabled on my computer.

Jericho2004 10-07-2006 02:42 PM

Simply amazing job on this new player. Clicked for mod of the month. :)

Hi,

Not a silly question, and certainly not asked for before...

At the moment its not possible to parse a playlist title through the actual flash player. However, once this modification is fully integrated into vBulletin then the options will become endless, things like searchable playlists, tracks and allowing members (permission set) to add songs, etc will all be possible.

:)

Got it... I missed the .js file... it's working, auto-starting and shuffling. My members love me!!!

Definitely gets my MOTM click!!! Thank you!!!

could this be made into a attachments reader?
like when ever there is a thread with audio attachments a button well apear near the reply and quote under sig, and u click on it and it will send those files to the player's playlist, (maybe the urls for the attachments can be put in a table in ur db then the player reads its playlist from there) and then it will play the filesin that thread, and if u keep the player open then u can go to other threads and keep adding to the list.
i really like this idea:) that would be one of the best hacks a attachment player

There's only one problem with playing attachments when using flash, and that is security related issues. It's very easy to setup and attach a redirect in flash. So you would need to be able trust your members 100%, or have permissions set in such a way so they could post attachments, but not show until they've been moderated by an administrator.

There is a new parameter been added in Flash player 9.0 ActiveX called 'allowNetworking' - but this doesn't stop a flash redirection for malicious purposes.

There is a small bug I must say... Songs sometimes dont play at all or play slow, I dont know if its the server problem or the MP3 player not liking the music 0.o

By 'slow' do you mean the actual mp3 track appears to sound like its running at a slow speed? If this is the case, its due to how flash works with mp3 streaming and variations in the mp3 bitrate. If your mp3's have varying bitrates then you end up with all sorts of problems. The way around this is to make sure all mp3 data is encoded at 128bit rate.

If you mean mp3's taking time to stream from a server then try changing the soundbuffer value to 3 or change the stream to false, within the XML file - this will override the default values I have set in flash player.

Hope this resolves your problem.

:)
