got the same problems here.

just freshly installed and nothing shows up in UserCP.

any idea ?

:(

GhoHan 11-27-2007 09:24 AM

it only shows up when you do the Post Reply.

Then you can only edit it there.

So, it is working but not from the UserCP.

Anyhow, great works. Click Installed.

:)

Same here. 3.6.8 PL2

FLMom 11-29-2007 12:49 AM

Hi,
I have just installed this on 3.7.1 PL and it is not working. I thought I read somewhere that it would work with this version? :o

I see the edit favorite smilies in the user control panel and I have gone into the Usergroups, clicked on "Go" and set it up in the Message Posting Interface Options section, but when I refreshed my page nothing shows up in the reply box. I have double checked everything and I don't see a Star and when I click on my smilie drop down box, it's still the default smilies I have.

I have enclosed two attachments so you can see what I am talking about :)

Thanks for any help you can give! My members are going to LOVE this!!

Pardon me if I missed this answer - but how can I make this available only to certain usergroups?

It's towards the bottom of each usergroup setting.

Freesteyelz 12-25-2007 10:55 AM

The Favorite Smilie mod seems to work fine in 3.7 Beta 3. Fantastic mod, Darwinist. Thank you. :)

Bug?

I did notice that upon loading the Favorite Smilies editing page, if a user did not select a favorite smilie the count will default to show as "1". If you press clear or reset then the counter shows up correctly as "0"...Until you reload the page again.

It's not a big issue but just thought I'd let you know. :)

*The attachment below shows a correct counter (if a user chose favorite smilies) and an incorrect/no counter (when a user does not choose favorite smilies):

Update: I resolved this issue with a conditional:

Code:

<if condition="$show['favsmilies']">
<phrase 1="$vboptions[smtotal]" 2="$totalsmilies">$vbphrase[showing_x_smilies_of_y_total]</phrase>
<else />
Showing 36 smilies of $totalsmilies total smilies.
</if>

Screenshots below (focus on the wording)...

It might be an issue with an edit in functions_editor.php. Re-check it again as it should work, unless there's a conflicting code from another mod.

Umm...What version did you install it again? 3.7.1 didn't come out at that time.

FLMom 12-31-2007 10:07 PM

Thank you, I will recheck the .php file again. I am using 3.6.7 PL1 Not sure what the heck I was thinking when I typed this up originally...sorry about the typo! ;)

Freesteyelz 12-31-2007 10:34 PM

If you need further help just holler. :)

NeitherSparky 01-02-2008 03:37 AM

I don't seem to have ever thanked you for this mod...So um, thanks! I've been using this since October and my users love it. Its great for a forum where everyone is encouraged to submit their own smilies so our list just keeps growing, this way people can just put the smilies they like in their editor. :)

FLMom 01-06-2008 12:05 AM

I don't know what I am doing wrong :( I have started over a couple of times and am still not getting it. I normally don't have this much trouble adding things to my site.

I am still not seeing any star or favorite smilies box like I first reported :( I followed the steps too. Any one have any ideas why it is not working for me?

djbaxter 01-06-2008 01:29 AM

FLMom, have you made sure to do the final two steps?

Quote:

STEP 6: In the AdminCP, go to 'Usergroup' -> 'Usergroup Manager' and click 'Go' to edit any of the usergroups (saving is not necessary, going to the page is all that's required).

STEP 7: Confirm and set (if necessary) the four new options in 'vBulletin Options' -> 'Message Posting Interface Options'.

I have and then I even picked my 20 favorite smilies from the user control panel. Then when I go to make a post or even reply to a post I don't see any star or favorite smilies section :(

djbaxter 01-06-2008 02:09 AM

Then you've missed something in the edits to includes/functions_editor.php.

You might try uploading that file from the original vBulletin package and starting again - be careful though if you've installed other mods which may have affected that file.

Alternatively, go through that file step-by-step to ensure that all the required edits are there and in the correct places - there are several of them.

FLMom 01-06-2008 02:57 AM

Ok, thank you! I will try again :D

Freesteyelz 01-06-2008 11:03 AM

Let us know how it goes. :)

thepub 01-27-2008 05:21 AM

I do not see anything in the usercp to set up the favorite smileys. I re-checked the permissions and everyone that I want to be able to use this is checked to a "yes". I cautiously followed the install directions but there is nothing showing in my cp. I'm using 3.6.8 with patch. Any ideas?

thepub 01-27-2008 05:30 AM

ok I checked again and I can see the fav. smiley gif, I clicked on it and it took me to my control panel to edit my list and saved. There just isn't anything in my control panel for this.

PamelaE 01-27-2008 08:44 AM

This has stopped working on 3.7. Not sure if its just me. But my users loved it and would love it back.

Freesteyelz 01-27-2008 10:34 AM

At least for me the mod is working in vB 3.7 Beta 3 and Beta 4. I also had it on 3.6.8 PL2 and it only a couple minor glitches, one in which I had a fix for (somewhere in this thread) and the other a counting error.

For you both make sure that the file edits are applied again if you've upgraded. Remember there are PHP and template edits to do. If still a no go then there may be a conflict in another mod.

PamelaE 01-27-2008 10:44 AM

Thanks for the reply.

I did all the modifications and unistalled all my mods prior to the 3.7 upgrade. I will try again and see if it works.

:)

PamelaE 01-27-2008 10:56 AM

Ok it is working now.

I didnt update via the usergroup :)

Freesteyelz 01-27-2008 01:08 PM

O...Hehe. That'll do it too.

Great Work !!!!

ChaosBurnt 02-09-2008 08:25 AM

Brilliant Mod', works lovely, thanks for this.

Pamela 02-22-2008 09:49 PM

Will a fresh install of this for 3.7.0 (Beta 5) work...or does this need to be rewritten for 3.7?

Thanks! :)

Hannan 02-25-2008 09:11 PM

Nice work! thanks!

thepub 02-26-2008 01:08 AM

how about that favorite smiley button for the cp?

Dingo14 03-04-2008 12:23 AM

installed and working great thanks

leannet 03-04-2008 09:01 AM

I love this idea and want to install it on my site, its a bit advanced for me with all the code changes.
Are there any other ones I can install that are ready to use without any code changes?

Bump. I really want to install it to 3.7.0 Beta 6. Thanks.

Freesteyelz 03-09-2008 04:33 AM

I've been running it on Beta 4 so I don't see why it wouldn't work in Beta 5 and 6. Looking at what's changed between versions shouldn't conflict with Favorite Smilies. I could be wrong, though. :)
